temp gauge
at the front of the engine, on the top alluminium water pipe are 2 sensors, one is the temp sensor for the dash gauge, the other is the temp sensor for the ECU, clean both the sensor connections and connectors on both, probably got green gunk, also one of them, the spade connector can come loose, just needs the rivet on it tapping back down with a nail punch or something, might cure your gauge problem mate... HTH...

What are the signs that your viscous fan is failing?
there's a post JeffTT put up a bit back, can't quite remember, but there is test of sorts, stopping the fan with your hand, using a rag or something, and see how fast it spins back up again, or something like that, no idea what thread/post it was tho mate!

Autobox levels
and also after doing that, with your foot on the brakes and handbrake on (obviously :) put the gear selector in each gear/position for a good 10 seconds, then re-check level...
-
Vibration from rear
possibly, if you can then great, but it's just 2 bolts that hold the bearing on to the chassis, would be worth undoing them, but be careful the prop doesn't pop out of the gearbox as you will loose oil, the prop will drop down in the middle then you can have a proper feel of the bearing, but also be careful as the prop is quite heavy mate...
-
Vibration from rear
and your correct, no centre bearing...
-
Vibration from rear
quite a lot lighter too...

Time for new spark plugs maybe?
yep, not a long enough reach on that bosch plug (doesn't sit into the cylinder far enough to be fully efficient), get yourself a fresh set, at least you know they are nice and new then, or, if on a budget, just replace the bosch's with NGKs, but I would go for a fresh set TBH... And with a bit of luck, you may find it will help your dodgy idle too... Whoever did it has put in "equivalent" spark plugs that are incorrect...

any ideas on how to do this
is there no way you can snare it? Sounds harsh, but if you can get some kind of a snare on it's legs or something, it may be uncomfortable for it for a few seconds when you pull it out, but if your quick, no harm done...

Dipstick tube removal??
yes mate, just a tight push fit, just need to carefully prise it out, as it has a shoulder on it to stop it going in too far, you can get something under it like a wood chisel etc. and as it loosens, twist and pull, and you can just tap it back in using something on the shoulder. i slightly widened mine before refitting, think i used a drill bit or something that was fractionally bigger and just tapped it into the end of the tube, just to make it bit of a better fit, and you can use the shoulder on it to tap it back in, just make sure you get it in the right place, you don't want to be turning it after you have fitted it as it may make it loose... HTH...
