  1. The 1.8 T did in limited numbers and all the Turbo charging work was carried out by Turbodynamics and i said they were mules as they hadn't decided what power plant the thing that got the Ford V8 was going to have. + like the Renault thing they were several years ago and Although I was impress it wasn't an indepth look into them. Mr Smarty pants

MG Extreme vehicles are one-off demonstrators, not intended for series production, and will each be outrageously powerful and road legal. The MGF X Power 500 is first, and powered by a race-bred 500Ps engine and 6-speed sequential transmission in what is a much modified MGF monocoque structure, fabricated around the UK’s best selling roadster. The links between the MG X Power motorsport programmes and the MGF X Power 500 are evident throughout the car. Power is courtesy of the MG Le Mans XP development engine, mounted transversely behind the cockpit and driving the rear wheels via an X-Trac competition gearbox. While externally MGF X Power 500 appears radically different from the standard car, much of the original structure remains. The body is seam welded throughout and has a fully integrated cage. Front and rear subframes are modified to accommodate the new powertrain and handle the 3-fold increase in power output. The track becomes 100mm wider at the front and 150mm at the rear. Four-pot AP Racing brakes ensure effective stopping performance. Wider tyres are specified for the task of managing the extreme power available – 225/35 R17 at the front and 265/35 R17 at the rear on MG multi-spoke alloy wheels. Covering these huge wheels and extended track has involved some radical changes to the exterior style of the car – the wheel arches are flared and connected by a sill-mounted side-skirt. The front end is completely revised and is clearly influenced by the MG Lola Le Mans EX257 race car, and styled under the leadership of Peter Stevens, MG Rover’s Product Design Director. At the rear a high mounted wing-type spoiler balances the high downforce front end to ensure the car remains ‘glued to the tarmac’ at speed. Engine cooling is optimised by an increased radiator capacity, fed by a much larger aperture in the front bumper and exiting through vents in the bonnet. The side air intakes are also enlarged to feed cold air into the engine bay. Inside, race seats and competition harnesses ensure the occupants remain firmly in place despite the very considerable g-forces the MGF X Power 500 is capable of generating. The MGF X Power 500 is not for sale, but has been developed to be outrageous fun. In this respect it sets the scene for what is to follow as the Extreme treatment is progressively revealed on versions of the MG ZT, MG ZS and MG ZR models; each one a one-off purpose-built demonstration vehicle. Rob Oldaker, Product Development Director, commented: "The MGF X Power 500 is proof that MG will be sensational and outrageous, and this is only the beginning. It can also compete with the best in the highest echelons of the performance car scene. MG is a fast moving bold brand with an appetite to thrill." 13 May 2001 - The “Ultimate” MGF by Autocar In Autocar edition published on the 13 May 2001. They mention that an MG spokesman says: "that the Extreme models will not go on sale, being solely reserved for promotional activities." Topping the eXtreme range will be a 500bhp version of the ZT which will be capable of 170mph and 60mph in less than 5 seconds. The eXtreme MGF taken at Le Mans (16 June 2001) and Brands Hatch (7 October 2001) The MGF will be given a big boost with a blown 230bhp (turbo or supercharged) model due to hit showrooms in a year’s time. Insiders talk of outputs between 225 and 230 bhp and say the car will adopt a bodykit inspired by the 500 bhp race-engine MGF Extreme unveiled at June 2001 Le Mans. Engineers are working on a steel suspension – like on the Extreme – to replace the Hydragas suspension used on mainstream MGFs. ***Autocars sources at Longbridge talk of turning the MGF into a full range from the 110bhp 1.6 to the 230bhp “Ultimate” to challenge everything from the cheap MX5 to the Porsche Boxster. And they hint there may be an even more powerful version in the pipeline, with talk of 300 bhp-plus being achievable from a tuned K-series engine.*** -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Home | Forums | Gallery | Reviews | Car Of The Month -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Site operated, funded and not least owned by Online Enthusiasts Ltd. 3. There's nothing like slumbing it is there. I bet you could buy a nice house or 2 for the price of that.
  4. Nice to see it coming together at last John and Leigh of course. Has Leon dropped out again because he was trying to sell me my old SWB back again.
  5. It's old age and juggling to many things inbetween being Dads taxis. Reading and seeing bit here there and every where and mixing em up. Just you wait it get you in the end. It is a 1.8 T that was a limited production and the 2.5 TT was a prototype that was in one of the main AUTO news either papers or magazines. I think it may have beem a mule for the thing that eventually became the MG with the V8 Ford lump and the carbon fibre body. The thing they bought in from an Italian design firm that clarkson drove and dyed a death. Anyway the mules/prototypes what ever you want to call them. 1 was the yellow flip and the other was the green flip and the auto press drove them. But all that info is just for your perdanticness as my first explanation was much easier to type.
  6. The only two flip colours I've seen that I really like are the Pearl Silver Blue that Chris AKA Deve8uk has on his car and the Pearl yellow that turns through to a burnt orange that they painted the limited number of 2.5 V6 TT MGF's They would look brill on a Zed (Chris's car looks better in the flesh than in pic's) and are very different to the usual colours.
  7. Spot on Be confident but , not overly familiar and act respectfully but not humble. Basically if youy sure you can do the job well then be yourself and relax. Anyway how did it go have you got the job.
  8. sorry to hear this and hope you still hang a round. I think on the whole you've done a stirlin job. I know I wouldn't have a clue where to start. Take care Mr and don't be too much of a stranger.
  9. I'll say this Si you got some style. Almost 12 months on and you just pic up the thread like it was only a few minutes old
  10. Who'd want to see my mush. That would be no good. Unless I can put a picture of me in my 20's when i was young and handsome not middle aged and slightly over weight.
  11.  If I ever have to do the job again I'll drive down to your place and let you do it then. I did mine when I changed the EFI loom and don't see how it could be done with the dash in. Not with my big fat sausages anyway. It took me about 15 hours to do the EFI loom (plenum off) new ptu and 555's + heater matrix. That also included a trip up to see duffer to show me how to put the injectors in without shagging the seal rings. all he needed to have said was use grease :headvswal Anyway all these newbies benifit from all the daft mistakes the likes of me have made over the years   Anyway I thought you shorty was going to go V8.
  12. My original Owners hand book states 10w40 semi synthetic or 15/40 fully synthetic. So for a standard TT that is the oil grades I'd use. 05w30 is much too thin and will run through your pcv breather system ever hard right turn you make and then smoke like a Louisiana River boat. If your running a chipped ECU and higher boost 10w50 is recomended as the oil temps will run high than a standard car, Which runs high enough as it is. No I don't think I know your car will come to no harm running 10w40 but 05w30 is going to cook.
  13. Well thanks guys I appreciate your coments. Its a shame and all that, but they officially wrote it off yesteday afternoon. They estimate £2800 to repair (new bits of course) so i'm off to get my srandard wheels out of Chris GetGreddy's garage even if I have to sit and wait all day. Good news is I think I have another. I've been offered 2 different TT's and an NA It's the NA I want for my project, but if It has to be a TT then so be it. The pannel beater who is doing the original arches for me wanted the car today, so that's going to be knocked back a few weeks now, but watch this space.
  14. Clean up the sidies, shave the bumb fluf off the neck and top lip and go with the pony tail. don'tsee there being a problem with that at all. I Run a recruitment angeny and have to send people for interviews frequently enough to have a good idea as to what bosses think is acceptable or not.
  15. just like being married, because after a while it Nothing or Nothing from her and all or all from you:rofl:
  16. Cheers guys for the suport. As my lad said "That was a shit accident. I can't tell my mates I nearly died or that we were blasting alone at 100 mph. It was so slow and Oh, would have been better had that tree not been there". + I haven't got emotionally attached to this car as I have the blue one which has got so much of my DNA in it. Definately suspect suspension. I have a set of Ground Control coilovers on order and no car to go on now. :headvswal
  17. Still got to think about this, but will let you know.
  18. I'm Sure it will be clased as a none Viable repare. Bonnet, upper front cross member, inner wing, outer wing, front bumper, bumper carrier, Headlamp housing, Bumper mounting plates, inner wheel arches, front under tray, Wheel repare, indicator, headlamp, Paintwork, and Labour. I know I could get all those bits salvage, but it'll still cost me for paint worl etc. + i don't know whats damaged on the steering. So I think it will be better to let it go to the great Zed track in the sky and buy a staight car as a starting block for my project.
  19. I'll refurb i think and put srandard wheels on for Mr insurance salvage people. Well pissed off though because the body seemed in loverly nick.
  20. Just another so you can se both whels are pointing in oppersit dirrections
  21. Well after the other week http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=97530 I didn't change the tyres because it looks like I've sold my blue car and the guy doesn't want the wheels, which had almost new Bridgestones on and I will put on my little red. So went out on Sunday in Little Red as it was nice and Sunny, but it started to rain on the way back. I know how shit these tyre are so I was going really steady and it just begabd to about face on a long cambered bend. I hadn't eased off, touched the brakes or anything. I was doing about 40 on a bend I would normally take at 60+ in the rain with my TT. I really believe that there is something fundementally wrong with this car. I've Raced cars and Karts in the rain on slicks and you still have some control if your not going too fast, but I was just a passenger. So we twirled around a bit and then found the only tree for several hunderd yards Pic's don't do it justice as it is well bent and I think a write off. So I'm looking for another SWB
  22. The NA bellhousing will fit over a TT flywheel and all you need to do is shim the Strater motor locating bolts with 2 1mm washers as the TT flywheel is 4mm wider in diameter. You also have to get the Manual front half of the prop or a complete TT Manual prop as the Auto prop is shorter. Remember the NA prop will not mate with the TT diff. However the NA and TT manual box is the same apart from the bell housing. The other thing is the speed sensor on the NA box is calibrated for the NA diff which is lower geared than the TT so you must have the correct speed sensor for the diff. ie TT diff needs TT gearbox speed sensor. NA diff = NA sensor. When you use a TT flywheel and uprated TT clutch with a NA peddle box, your peddle presure may feel too heavy as the NA peddle box has no servo booster assistance. This can be overcome buy using a length of coiled high presure airline as found on HGV class 1 vehicals. Better asking Chris C the how's and wherefores. He has done this on his car to great affect.
  23. Cheers thats fantastic because I thought the car was standard as the ECU in it isn't chipped and it didn't seem to have had any other fuel controler. Brilliant I can fit them straight into my SWB NA and chip.
  24. I've taken some injectors out of my car that look like 555's but it says Nissan on the top in the middle of the part number. Also on the blue plastic section that surounds the feeds it says made in Japan and the 46-00. Anyone know where I can get a definative answer? Mr Nissan is no help Anyone know the Nismo 555's part number and what it says on the blue band round the middle where the feeds are?
