  1. I think this is a great thread because a) it hasn't been closed (yet) and b) it's allowed people to let off some steam and cover some of them more shall we say controversial topics. A lot has been covered above and there's no need for me to repeat any of it (although I will also say well done to Stella for the way he has handled this!). I think the true test will be when the rest of the mods sit down and read this (it's happened dozens of times in films - it looks like there's going to be trouble, will the big nasty U.S. army general press the 'Nuke' button and make it go away - but in the end he stays his hand and the problem burns itself out without the need to intervene heavy-handedly and everyone cheers, high-five's, and the hero ends up having sex with the gorgeous secretary/agent/etc. that he met at the start of the film). TBH though I think the s**t-stirrers and trouble-makers tend to show themselves up in a thread and actually look a bit foolish in front of everyone when they might think they're being a bad bwoy. If this forum had the facility to 'unlike' or 'thumbs-down' a post (which it never will mainly due to it being difficult to manage and it being open to abuse) then those members whose posts offend/annoy others might get the idea that some of their posts are not welcome and hopefully change their tune without the need for mod intervention.
  2. first and most importantly of all, RIP to all the innocents that died on 9/11 (I always miss it because I think it's the 9th Nov, not the 11th Sep!) I've never been actively religious, I try to take a logical approach to how and why religions started (and this spills over a little into that other recent thread about life, the universe and everything). I don't think religion itself is responsible for war/terror, but rather people's mistrust and fear of other people who are not like themselves, be it a different religion/culture/beliefs or coming from a different part of the world. I'm sure 99.99% of religious people are peaceful, and enjoy attending their church, mosque, temple, gurdwara, etc. and practising their religion and meeting their like-minded brothers and sisters. In terms of banning it, has anyone seen the film 'Equilibrium' where religion, art, and even feelings are banned in an Orwellian society because they are blamed for war, leaving people to shuffle around like zombies and treated as a resource. Just my 2p :)
  3. thanks for the responses. so much easier to work with it removed - I had to tighten up the clip to the bottom rad pipe (near the top). i'll see how it affects the running temp then.
  4. I've just sawn mine into four pieces and thrown it into the bin (couldn't get it off without removing top rad pipe which I didn't want to do as I'd only just replaced it last week) and then managed to get one of the fan blades stuck inside it, lol!). I'm running a Koyo. Can I get away without it, as I notice some of you have also gone shroudless.
  5. in that first pic i thought that was yer crack! :hurl: !
  6. yeah I noticed it listed on ebay yesterday. good luck with the sale!
  7. ^ :D did that come out autosmatically?
  8. ah, the positive feedback! shame he didnt wait until fitting before leaving feedback. :( :slap: for you as well, just for the sake of it
  9. looks like an MR2 owner had the same problem and left him appropriate feedback - I take it you will too?
  10. saw you again this afternoon, same time same place. UK rear bumper.
  11. im a web developer too, but for boring management information, not jazzy sites! and i think i can confirm old post's don't get deleted cos i managed to find my first few the other week. :o
  12. the GT5 pimp is here again: :thumbup1: Course editor is confirmed - what you do with it is choose a location (choice of 4 confirmed at the moment), then put in how many sectors there are, how bendy they are, how wide the road is, etc. and the game will generate the track for you! not amazing by any means but a nice little addition to play with. you can upload/download generated tracks too. screenshot of track editor in 2nd post below. B-Spec is confirmed, although it's more driver management. and you can manage more than one driver too! see picture in 2nd post for a screenshot. looks quite cool. and hopefully you can speed it up like you could in 4 so you can get through those 24-hour races! and go-karts are added too! not too groundbreaking again but a nice bolt-on to the main game.
  13. welcome to the club - lovely motor there!
  14. it does a few things that KITT cant do! :D (like, err, make toast...) :donatello:
  15. Spotted you this afternoon - I'm sure you're the same bloke driving the red one I saw a couple of weeks ago!
  16. ...and an uprated radiator to keep the old girl cool.
  17. lol, well having the rims in two colours kind of makes them look a little cheap, but that's just my opinion! :D
  18. they were like that when I bought them - although I was a little disappointed that the rim is silver but the spokes are more gunmetal - I'd have liked the whole lot to have been gunmetal but not to worry!
  19. whaaaat?! there's billions if not trillions of planets out there - all a planet needs to be is a certain distance from their sun (i.e. not too hot and not too cold) and a little bit of magic and there you go - an inhabitable planet! you've been inhaling too many V8 fumes Nick  that's my point though mate - you can keep going back forever saying 'well where did they come from, and then where did they come from...' and you'd never get to nothing, yet we're here, so everything's impossible (like getting a Z to work). ...and just to throw a curveball into things, I love it how when you look up at the stars, you need to remember that it takes light so long to reach us, and that what you see is what the stars looked like thousands/millions/billions of years ago. what do they look like now? is a star you're seeing right now still there or did it go super nova millions of years ago? it's like our sun - when you see our sun, you see what it looked like 8 minutes ago
  20. fooknell no wonder they're so rare!!!
  21. should've done what I did mate when I took it all out - sellotaped them all to A4 paper and written down next to them exactly what they were for and where they went. took longer and was a bit faffy but by golly it made sense when it went back in... ...except I ended up with 2 extra screws, which in theory should have been impossible!
  22. I enjoy philosophising to myself from time to time about this (sounds heavy already!) Astronomers reckon there are more stars out there than there are grains of sand on every beach in the world! That's an uncountable amount, and there will surely be some form of life in almost every solar system out there, whether it be germs or sentient beings! The interesting thing is (bringing God etc. into this now), is that everything in existence is impossible. Nothing comes from nothing. If there's no space, no nothing (e.g. in the beginning), then where did everything come from? Two atoms smashing together in space? Ok then, but where did those two atoms come from? And where did their creators come from? And you could go back and back infinitely until you come to nothing. So in theory, nothing should exist, but we all do so where did we come from? I don't specifically believe in God as some big beardy chap floating around and creating things, but perhaps 'god' is the name of some alien race that kind of kicked off our religions somehow as a mechanism to steer mankind in a particular direction, or something... I think you could spend lifetimes thinking about a) what's out there, b) where and how did it all start, c) what is religion, and are they carrying messages and stored knowledge from a 'master' species or a previous life (anyone who has completed Assassins Creed 2 will know what I'm on about here!) Even with all this wormhole and space-bending technology I don't think the dwellers of one solar system will ever be able to visit another - Proxima Centauri which is our closest star, is 4.2 light-years away. So travelling constantly at the speed of light (670 million MPH), it will take you over 4 years to get there! ...anyway I seem to have drifted on for a while... All I say for sure is, "The Bacon Knows..."
  23. saw it in another YouTube clip before it was taken down. Mercifully I reckon it was quick for him :( R.I.P. Tomizawa
