1. Put a picture up of the chip if you can :) If it's a stock chip soldered onto the board there is a very, very slim chance someone might have gone to the trouble of erasing a stock chip (UV), reprogramming it, reattaching the label, soldering it back in place and reapplying the conformal coating. I've not come across any Nissans like that, but I've done exactly that for both Swift GTi & Astra GTE rally cars in the past where regulations stipulated cars run factory engine management & rev limits :shifty: NIStune is my preferred solution for any diagnostic work, including analysing the suitability (or not...) of unknown chips. Nothing else really comes close when you're working with the stock Nissan management. A full remap of your ECU is another option, which is more expensive than a simple chip, but you get a lot more of course (socket fitted, health check, custom remap for your specific set up, optimal fueling & timing including extended maps & low load areas, before & after dyno printouts etc).
2. 285 tyres wil be fine on a 10j rim
3. Cheers. Way too many :pint: last night
4. Heh, I worked at Wards/Kingspan for 5 years inbetween semesters during my time at University. They're expensive because of how much coin the temp workers get
5. Welcome!! Great looking car :thumbup1:
6. Yeah, luckily 99% of police will be sensible about these kind of things, real crime going on and all that. MOT testers too, thankfully. Doesn't mean the plate is 'legal' in accordance with the Road Traffic Act and all that legal guff though... Regardless, performance (and aesthetics) >>> Number Plate Regulations, small price to pay on the very slim chance you'll get pulled over for it. I'll be getting one myself
7. The plate needs to be supplied by a registered number plate supplier, there are legislations in place for plates made since 2001 BS-something or other Not even having looked at the font, spacing, relevant marks, dimensions etc, I can guarantee the plate is 100% illegal, no two ways about it. The only mass-produced vehicle legally entitled to have an adhesive flexible non-vertically mounted number plate registered on or after 01/10/1938 is the E-Type Jag. I love the Zed, but an E-Type it is not :ninja: All very boring, but something I looked into long ago when I needed an adhesive plate on my S13. I got one anyway, decent airflow is way more important than laws and such. I will probably get one for the Zed, too. Unlikely to get you pulled over or even fail an MOT nowadays  Edit: Totally scratch most of that hahaha, thought it would be mounted on the bumper slope, like the other pic in this thread. Font is way off, look at the '5'.. Looks good though
8. All the best :thumbup1:
9. 3:05. Good brakes.
10. This cracked me up! Brilliant thread  Can you map a Dyson.....?
11. Yeah, they're nasty-looking. I was always a fan of the 205 T16, personally.
12. Metro 6R4 The V6 in the XJ220 was derived from the very same engine, so it is sort of included in the list :D
13. It's not just a Buick, it's the joint Buick/ASC/McLaren GNX! V6, fuel injection, intercooled with 280bhp, 360lbft & 1/4 mile in 13.5s way back in 1987. Annihilated most things! I will own one one day :shifty:
14. In the Zed at Santa Pod, I just press on the brakes with all my might and build the revs up. Once it didn't really work and I ended up doing an impromptu burnout at the line whilst the other car was staging. Got told off for it too!
15. They both have .63 cast into the inside of the exhaust housing inlet? I'm not sure why the company can't do auto turbos, they are identical apart from the exhaust housing A/R. Strange!
16. Yup, will be. That's the larger manual turbine housing. Everything else (compressor housing, comp wheel, turbine wheel) is exactly the same.
17. That'll be on the front of the compressor housing. Have a look on the rear exhaust housing for any markings. A lot of Garretts have the rear A/R stamped on the inside of the manifold flange. Any numbers there?
18. The Auto turbos should have a smaller .54 A/R turbine housing and the manuals a larger .63 A/R housing. What markings do they have?
19. Right..... The turbo intake hoses are not 70mm ID, they are 65mm ID. Anyone need any 70mm hose joiners :smash: Note to self: Listen to no one
20. The plastic pintle cap is only there to protect the pintle itself. There is no difference between the pintle caps, and even if there was (my kits use different pintle caps for example) it wouldn't matter :)
21. Old school 555s? I rebuild injectors, you will struggle to remove the pintle cap and refit successfully. If you're going to try it, use a heat gun and carefully pop it off with a small flat-head screw driver from the bottom. Be very careful with the pintle as that is now exposed and if bent, the injector will be scrap. The filters look a bit grimy as well.
