  1. 16 bit ECUs require a daughterboard and twin chips (programmed either identically or in an odd/even configuration).
  2. What map is it running? Standard ECU chip?
  3. Bluepark are very good if you want an all-in-one solution.
  4. All the best :)
  5. It's just £12345, an arbitrary price. He's taking offers ;)
  6. Best not enter any NASCAR events
  7. Running lean, too much timing, fuel with too low an octane rating & spark plugs of too high a heat range can cause issues due to detonation and preignition. In the case of the Zed which uses a hot wire air flow meter, additional air and the ease at which the engine ingests it is compensated for up to a point (hence the need for correct mapping). Running lean isn't the main issue, too much timing advance is. I've worked with cars that were running 13.5:1 AFR (Air Fuel Ratio) on full boost, but with a very retarded timing map and forged components, the engine stayed together in one piece. Fitting larger diameter intercooler pipework is the modification that caused the largest change in AFR I've found so far. I had to increase fuelling throughout the rev range by a significant amount, which also highlights the actual gains that were made.
  8. Does it do it in every gear at the same RPM?
  9. Email sent
  10. A good hard drive first of all. There isn't one particular oil that everyone will recommend as people have different results with different specifications.
  11. Get them from eBay, pay less than £2 a plug. I use the regular BCR8ES 5430, never once had the spark blown out and have been running 1.5 bar (max of 1.6 bar) in the Zed, 1.9 bar in the Pulsar & 2.3 bar in the MR2. No idea about the VP4 designation and how the plugs differ. That's a fairly new thing, not come across them before and neither has the parts guy I just rang :wack:
  12. What exactly happens when the issue arises? What has been changed since you bought the car from Ken?
  13. Bad idea to drive it if it's on 5 cylinders...
  14. It'll be at 25° on idle because the TPS idle switch isn't activated. It's reading the timing from the main timing map, interpolated from 4 cells: (16+16+41+26) / 4 = 24.75°. Timing should be 15°.
  15. I ran mine on semi-synth 10W40 for about a year. Developed a sticking lifter a few months back so decided to try some fully synthetic HKS (manufactured by Idemitsu) 10W45 and it's been spot on.
  16. As long as the sensors are heated, they won't foul. They need to be able to burn off the carbon deposits.
  17. It's a joint Silverline/Turbonoz collaboration, which includes the 2.5" pipework kit.
  18. Yes, pressure reference to the inlet, outlet to both actuators via a t-piece :)
  19. Pressure & vacuum often measured in different units. Use an online converter to convert 16 & 22 inHg to PSI.
  20. That will be 19 inHG (inches of mercury), which is between 16 & 22 as given. It won't be -19 psi, the engines don't produce that much vacuum on overrun.
