  1. Ok i thought i knew a little bout pc's but clearly i'm dim. Got the same problem.i.e. can get program to recognise cable. on device manager there are no ports listed. with cable plugged in xp tries to install it as new hardware but cant find drivers. have tried unistalling and reinstalling program. have tried all ports on program (0-9) but still nothing. all other usb devices are working fine. Please Help Me cos i'm fed up! nick
  2. Bit of a tricky job to do, but only took bout 1/2 hour. just did mine when i put a new door on. only two screws hold in the motor itself, but there's two more nuts further along door holding in frame. also need to undo two nuts in carrier runner that window bolts into. the motor and runner is then removed through speaker panel hole. HTH nick

Think you'll find that 'R' is for reinforced and has a rigid shoulder band. Shouldn't think there's a problem mixing (on different axles) HTH nick
  10. 4 for me please, paid by pal-pal. tel. no. pm'd. merry xmas to all cheers nick
  11. yep had exactly same problem bout 2 years ago. same as above cleaned contacts on temp sensor plug and been right as rain since ;) always keep bit of emery board in toolkit now. (nicked from karen's make up bag not mine  ) HTH nick
  12. Sorry to hear your going john. thanks for all the help and advice. nick
  13. i saw that one too. also saw dark blue rag-top bout 5 minutes later. loads of us around the area. :D
  14. Dont mention bl**dy houghtons. apparently they couldn't renew my classic policy because chaucher have stopped insuring non-garaged (import)vehicles. Quote doubled to more than £550  After loads of searching got it for £410, fully comp.(with 5 years no claims);unlimited milage. the only downside of insuring an import on a non- classic policy is the damn compulsory excess. seems that £500 + is standard. hmmm. Anyone with a uk 300 might want to try first alternative. they gave me an EXTREMELY low quote. when i phoned to confirm details was told they dont touch jap imports, even though their web site had quoted on my car reg no. hmmm, hmmmm. nick
  15. i've just renewed. could i have a keyring please. oh, and a window sticker if poss. cheers nick
  16. Hi, I've got a Snooper S6r neo. http://www.performanceproducts.co.uk/ had it for bout 2 years. Finds all fixed sites and mobile ones with radar detecter.(very useful) If laser detection is made illegal then you can just unplug radar unit. only problem, as above, is it's quite chunky' Also, as a bynote their customer service is excellent. i contacted then last week to say that the gps was not picking up satellites very well and they had a new aerial to me the next day. hth nick

Just took this from dsa web site 'For the hazard perception test there are no separate versions for different vehicles, each vehicle category takes the same test, however the pass mark is different for different categories of tests.' Hazard perception test is the same for all vehicles. only theory test questions differ. roadsense dvd has hazard perception clips on it. cheers nick
  18. nickC replied to a post in a topic in General Discussions - Non 300ZX
The theory test questions are definately different but i think the hazard perception clips are the same (no expense spared ;) )

hi mate, DSA did a Roadsense dvd which had practise hazard perception questions on. not sure whether you can download it anywhere or not. this is a link to their LGV web site with trail thoery test questions (not hazard perception) on. http://www.dsa.gov.uk/Category.asp?cat=305 HTH Nick P.S. good luck :D
  20. That IS a great last shot James. Real shame i missed this one. when's the next :hyper: nick
  21. Update !!! All sorted now. Turned out i was given a 20 ohm resistor not a 20k ohm, bloody Maplins  managed to get 22k one from mate and adjust it down with potentiometer (just). Todays moral is ... Dont buy from maplins unless you know what you're doing pay your £20 subscripton for great advice.  thanks for all the help nick
  22. will do, job for tomorrow i think. thanks for all the help. will let you know what happens cheers nick
  23. That might explain things. :o mind you just tested as you said and the only scale i could get a reading other than 1 from was the 20m ohms (got 0.30) ?????
  24. 4. blue yellow = 7.03 def got the point in right place with meter set to 20k. got them from maplins, loose. got several. very hard to read colour code clearly. 1st looks orange (but could be red, 20 or 30k  ) 2nd and 3rd black 4th Orange or red ? 5th brown. starting to wonder if my meters playing up. tested spare resistor. meter on 20k gave reading of 1 . on 200k briefly flashed a figure b4 giving a reading of 1 . 0n 20m gave a reading of 0.30. think i'm losing the plot. have done the original tests with meter set to 200k with following results. 1. 44.7 2. 44.7 3. 37.0 4. 07.1 Have managed to get spare speedo (thanks topless) still in kph but at least i'm legal again, so i dont mind experimenting with this one now. still well confused though(not hard for me :headvswal ) cheers nick
  25. ok done tests with following results with multimeter set to 20k ohms 1. 17.18 2. 17.18 3. 8.36 weird i thought so tested again. 1. 16.77 2. 16.77 3. 7.37 hmmmm. wot do u think ( apart from plonker!) cheers nick
