Fuel smell - Fuel Damper
Greetings, I vaguely remember reading on here somewhere (think it may have been by JeffTT) that if you pull the vac pipe off the fuel damper that it shouldn't smell of fuel. When I pull mine, with the engine off, it stinks of fuel! Can someone confirm that it is that damper that is knackered before I order a new one, if i can find one. Cheers

Breakfast
I was meant to go today with a mate in his MG but couldn't get myself up early enough  Quite often the car park is better than the event itself! I might try and get up for the Jap one in October

What do you want for us to enable you to subscribe ?
I think it's very difficult to get a 'one size fits all' answer to getting folks to subscribe. As you can see I'm not a prolific poster but I've been around for quite a while. We all tend to use owners clubs/forums differently. Maybe if you can find out what most members use the club for it may help with the answer in how to attract more to subscribe. I tend to use the help & advice section and the great database for searching to resolve problems. Some of the build threads are great but I'm not really interested in 'who's got the shiniest car' etc, I've been to a few meets over the years and would probably do a few more. In the past group buys and traders discounts were really great ways to give people the feeling that they were getting value for money. Because there was a larger membership questions got answered quickly and there was a much more active For Sale section as well. Now I pay my subs to help the club but if I was new to the scene I'm not sure I would see enough value to it.

Simply Japanese 2018
Yep it was our first show in years as well. Damn shame about the weather but it was good to put a few names to faces, and to look around Beaulieu. Still, the rain made my paintwork look so much better. They always say never buy a car in the rain!

Simply Japanese 2018
Change of plan for us. I will be leaving a bit later, and following a mate in his mx5, so probably driving very slowly  Reckon I won't be arriving until about 10am so I'm not sure if I will be able to get on the club stand.

MOT headlight help
I had this problem last week. It was the connections on the bulb holder that were badly corroded not the bulb itself. Here's a link with a fix to the problem I had https://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?173675-Main-beam-bulb-tech-help&highlight=main+beam+bulb

Removing HIDs for MOT
I did mine earlier this week for mot. The bulb lit without having to replace it into the housing. Mine's a jdm with a 2 pin H3C bulb. If yours is a uk it may be different.

Nearside Scuttle panel - Any condition!
Well Ok not any condition :). I need a scuttle panel in good condition but if it has the obligatory crack in that's not a problem. I reckon there must be quite a few on here who changed theirs because of the crack but apart from that was in excellent condition. Mine is pretty much destroyed and I need a replacement pronto! cheers

Help! Cat noise??
Cheers for the reply Tony. I took it into an exhaust specialist today and he said pretty much the same. Time for a decat! I never got round to doing the AIV delete so this will be a good time to do that as well.

Help! Cat noise??
Oh and just to add to the fun I can't get my Datascan to connect to my lap top either!!

Help! Cat noise??
Ok, so the day after flying through it's MOT the car has developed an awful noise from the exhaust from around the cat area. It happens when releasing the throttle after accelerating, both on the move and when stationary. Initially I thought that the cat had broken inside it's housing. The problem is it doesn't happen when cold only after being fully warmed up and particularly after a good blast! Can a broken cat only show these symptoms when hot or could it be something more sinister? Here's a link to a sound file of the noise (hope it works), my phone was held near to the centre of the exhaust by the cats https://vocaroo.com/i/s0a6B5VSL3N6 I was getting pretty excited about getting back on the road and was really looking forward to my first meet in years at Simply Japanese, that lasted a whole day

Convoy to Simply Japanese M3 Fleet Service
The old girl passed her mot today so we are definitely on for this :thumbup1: I'm guessing that this will be the nearest point for me to meet coming from Surbiton, Surrey?

Door glass top bolt
Just a quick update, in case anyone searches for this in the future. The bolt in the first link has been replaced and is no longer available. The correct part number is the one in AndrewG's diagram. This is the link for that http://www.allcarpartsfast.co.uk/nissan/nissan-8037030p10-bolt-finish/ Cheers

Door glass top bolt
Hi, I have somehow managed to shear off the bolt that goes through the glass on the drivers door window. Does anyone know if it can be easily removed or is it easier to just replace the glass? I've seen the bolt for sale at Concept Z for $0.77 but they want $18 for delivery :laugh: Cheers

Idle/MAF issue
Thanks for the reply. I did look at that info but it doesn't really help. I can't adjust the base idle, pulling the connector has no effect. It was the cutting out when I disconnect the MAF that may be the issue. I can't find any info on that using search. Cheers

Idle/MAF issue
After months off the road I've finally got round to changing a duff injector to get old girl back. Now I'm struggling to sort the very low idle. Disconnecting the plug on the Idle control valve makes no difference, so I'm thinking there may be a boost leak or a knackered IACV. I tried pulling the plug on the MAF but as soon as I do the engine cuts out. I thought that with the MAF disconnected the idle speed should pick up not cut out completely? Have I got this wrong, which wouldn't surprise me. Any help would be appreciated.

Fuel rail seals
Hi folks, I've just pulled the injectors to get them sent off for cleaning. I need to replace the fuel rail to lower plenum seals cos they look shot! Does anyone know if i can get them in the UK or do i have to order them from the US? Cheers Nick

TT Injector
Hi all not been on here for ages :) Finally got round to trying to identify a rough running problem. I did an ohms test on the injectors and no.6 had a reading of 55.5!!! I'm guessing that means it's completely shot and needs no other test to confirm it? Does anyone know where I can get a decent (second hand?) one for a 1990TT Cheers Nick

effing Cycllists .....
I've just been out on my bike in Surrey Hills. I've lost count of the times I've been cut up by inconsiderate, angry or just bad drivers, usually overtaking at inappropriate places, passing too close or cutting in too soon! I've also lost count of the amount of bad cyclists I've seen; Jumping red lights, weaving all over the road and just being inconsiderate or unaware of other drivers! I guess my point is that there are bad cyclists and bad drivers on the road. Accidents usually occur when the two come together. Many of the bad cyclists drive & vice versa so imho it's down to bad attitude, lack of respect for anyone else and a lack of understanding/interest of the rules of the road! Also on a side note I'd personally be very wary about driving through a red light at temporary traffic lights! Last time I checked (it's been a while) there was an offence code EE03 - Contravene - Red Light - Road Works. There is a stipulation that permission has to be given by the local authority for the temporary lights so that may be a get out clause but not worth the risk as far as I'm concerned. Cheers
