  1. At last, it actually was someone from here! That was a seriously rainy day too! I bought a '69 C3 last year which I'm currently working on. I was hoping people might be selling some bits, but no luck there. Couldn't get over how protective some of the owners were, putting ropes around their cars lol!
  2. On television in the 80's and a defining programme of the eighties, was probably the best known Daytona Spyder and it wasn't one at all. In the first series of Miami Vice which was a massively successful tv show starring Don Johnson as Sonny Burnett, who spent his time chasing drug dealers and murderers all over Miami in a midnight black one with the wind blowing through his hair etc. Ferrari having, I assume, refused to supply a real car for the first series. He lived on a yacht with a pet alligator! The only catch was it was an American McBurnie replica built on a Chevrolet Corvette chassis. Unlike the original car it had no quarterlights and had conventional door handles. The doors are longer than the real Daytona's too. It still looked a real eyeful though! The American public were mystified initially by the car, so few genuine Daytona Spyder cars were made and only just over 80 ever got to the US. Many believed it was a special Corvette and, ironically, they were absolutely correct!
  3. Isn't this quicker on top end than the Bugatti Veyron? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Dodge-Viper-Hennessey-Venom-1000-Twin-Turbo-Viper-SRT10-Coupe_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6209QQihZ001QQitemZ110140351610QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
  4. I saw this before I saw any Corvettes lol!
  5. So sorry I went to bed earlier that normal last night because of the early start today and missed your post. Glad you got it sorted in the end!
  6. You say you first thought it was the immobiliser. When you turn the key all the way and nothing happens, does it spring back like it should or will it not get that far? I'm off to the Nationals in Huntingdon tomorrow and I've got a known-good ignition barrel/key it you live anywhere between N.Wales and Huntingdon lol!
  7. I must confess I once owned a TR7. It had a Dolomite Sprint engine though :D
  8. My father was a copper for many years, he was of the same opinion with regards to revenue collection, but you are quite right in that they aren't all like that! I just hate stories like this one  . I was pulling an £8K boat back from Southampton docks last December with a £100 car :D . I got pulled over by the Hampshire Traffic Police and they were really polite and civil with me, yet I hear some nightmare stories about trivial incidents here in North Wales. I think Richard Brunstrom isn't doing any of the nation's traffic officers any favours with his draconian measures imo :( .
  9. This whole SORN thing sucks BIG TIME. I once had a ****ed out golf which I left on my estate. Some kind person reported it and sure enough, I had a letter through the post. It was only for the lack of tax though. Never thought it should have been insured though! What really pisses me off is that even a fooking SORN expires after a year FFS. What right have they got to force you to write in EVERY fooking year it's off the road. I'm sure this contravenes the European law for human rights. A dead car on your land should be no concern of theirs. As fairladyzed says - They are revenue collectors nowadays and is it any wonder they are so unpopular? I'd go to court and play on your illness etc. and I'm sorry to hear about this buddy.
  10. Weird that all 4 came off together though!
  11. Excuse me folks - I've got a big bridge to jump off!
  12. Indicated, turned left at a roundabout, gave the Z about 0.5 psi boost up to 50 m.p.h., (speed limit) then saw a Peugeot 307 heading straight towards me! He'd pulled out, got alongside the slower car, jammed his anchors on and was still well over the white line when he almost side-swiped me as I passed. I was practically touching the n/s kerb. What do they say - if in doubt - DO NOT OVERTAKE  . I noticed there was no learner in the car. I feel like reporting the impatient pr*ck to the DSA :xxx: .
  13. Can't get over the price, 550hp or not! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1973-FERRARI-DAYTONA-REPLICA-1977-CHEVROLET-427-ENGINE_W0QQitemZ160126935105QQihZ006QQcategoryZ6168QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting
  14. After this week's releasing of 'non-violent' criminals, this shit happens too:- http://www.khaleejtimes.com/DisplayArticleNew.asp?xfile=data/theworld/2007/June/theworld_June667.xml&section=theworld&col=
  15. Hi. I've got both solenoid assemblies and I'm sure I've got the other bits you need too. I'll check the garage tomorrow. Cheers Dave
  16. Can't imagine that ALL 6 cylinders are that bad and also it still starts easily. Sounds like a dodgy guage to me. I wouldn't be quick to start stripping it down.
  17. That chicken's got hair too. Very educative for kids. Maybe they should paint pics of kids with feathers or lions with scales ffs!
  18. An interesting post for those considering tuning options:- http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t419768.html
  19. This is a front right one from that number (80730.) I would say it's a front-right (driver's side) because of the motor/gearbox positions and it's reversed to the n/s one on e-bay. Mine is gear-side up, whereas the e-bay one is the other way up. Thanks guys - you're stars  Dave
  20. I misread this and thought it said "Toblerone and a £20 blowjob  "
  21. Hi. It sounds like the water regulating valve may be jammed. It's a bugger to see but deep behind the centre console you should find where the heater matrix pipes make their way through the bulkhead/firewall. On one of them lies a white valve which is controlled by a cable (similar to a choke or throttle cable.) The cable may have come off, or the motor which drives it might be defective. One of the temperature sensors might also be defective, which could cause the computer to think that it's freezing cold inside the car! Check this out:- http://www.ttzd.com/tech/autocc/autocc.html Cheers Dave
  22. Hi. I need to establish whether this motor is from a driver or passenger side window winder. Any help would be very much appreciated. Cheers Dave
  23. Manual zeds actually have a neutral switch too. My Clifford very occasionally arms/disarms itself, which puts me off using the remote-start output. I'm sure it's due to harmonics from mobile phone networks. The likelihood of getting the right 16-bit code is quite high from a mobile network, especially over time. I remember the missus texting someone in my old Z and the cheapo 8-bit system would arm itself on many occasions and sound whilst I was driving along lol!
  24. Yesterday I discovered that run-flats are rubbish. I only drove it a mile to the nearest garage with an airline and the back end was swinging around like a pendulum  I'd rather have the space-saver on. Does anyone know if these tyres are repairable, as with normal tyres, or are they one-shot jobs? Cheers Dave
