  1. if this is Uk spec and the seatbelts are on the pillars i might be interested in it as a shell when you've had your interior...What colour is it and is it Uk or JDM?
  2. Never renew and never 'auto-renew'!!!! There is no such thing as a loyal customer anymore adn they expect you to be too lazy to shop around. I invariably pay in one lump if i can and then state i don't want to renew when the time comes. In some cases you can go back to the same insurers website and beat thier own quotes, and the saving you make is for the pain you have to go through....They all do it in the hope you'll just accept the situation and the direct debit will go through!! I've got Admiral (Elephant) trying to charge me £20.50 cancellation at the moment and they've been sending me e-mails every 3 days....Mainly because the credit card i used to pay in full and up front last year is no longer an active account. I thought that when the policy lapsed the policy lapsed...... It was too expensive so i went elsewhere at renewal time and did not tell them that i didn't want to auto renew. They reckon that they continued cover beyond the policy i signed up to and paid for last year and so are entitled to the charge for the period i was insured???..What?? anyway I've asked them to send me a copy of the policy and the terms and conditions last week as i got fed up of the e-mails (as i've destroyed all the originals and any new documents they sent me ;-) ) and it all seems to have gone quiet now....They're like vultures though the lot of them!!! Like someone else said, a necessary evil....
  3. It's hard to know where to look though these days...The marketing boys run every sport now and its all about selling shirts, baseball caps TV Rights and growing teams to become big money making machines...
  4. Anyone advise me on a decent set? My offside front Spring has gone on my daily driver (GT TDI) and rather than just replace the stock spring, I was considering doing what i should have done a while ago and drop it 40mm all round so it handles a little better... Anyone recommend a decent spring or kit manufacturer for the Mk4 Golf??? I'm looking at Koni, Eibach and Spax but there is a 'Jamex' make that i've come accross in a couple of sites that seem to look ok and be recommended by a couple of forums and the price is keen....Quality and function is what i'm after rather than cheap crap though...anyone got any thoughts for me?
  5. Pay the extra now while you can boys and re-coup the rewards later!! I'd be overpaying while you have the chance! I saw my parents struggle and my old man lose his business and have to put 50k on his mortgage in the last recession so i've seen what it can do when interest rates hit 18% on a business overdraft... My main mortgage i've just upped the payment another £50 taking it to £1250 a month now and i'm fixed at 5% on that one till the end of feb! The extra £50 though will save me £18k overall in the time remaining on teh mortgage(21 years!!). I'm also in the privelidged position that i have a buy to let as house well and i'm overpaying £150 a month on that one now too as the rates have dropped.....so i'd be paying every extra you can off it not taking the money out!...Even if it's £10 a month which is less than the cost of 2 cans of stella a week it'll save a big chunk of interest in the longer term and stop the banks earning too much out of you!!
  6. In the short term anything in there to stop water splashing 'up' to the filter will suffice. I have my stock splashguard but even a bit of cardboard painted with PVA glue will help you out a bit??? Cut up a couple of plastic buiscuit tins, or the side of an old oil can and make something up?? Id also whip the maff and filter off and warm them in the oven for a bit on a low heat to get rid of any residual wet or damp....
  7. do you know when it happened can you do a system restore to a point in time before you caught it without losing anything?
  8. very good!!
  9. A bit far from Jiangsu, but My partners best Friend runs a school in Beijing and has now married out there having been there over 10 years. If you need some contact details drop me a PM and i'll ask the mrs for her details. might even be temp work if things fdon't work out?!! She'll have the time of her life and any TEFL course will stand her in good stead for any role outside of teaching which she may choose in the future. My Girlfriend taught in Japan for 12 months after travelling the far east before heading to Aus and finally coming home to finish her law quals....She had the time of her life and one of her best experiences was small students standing on chairs singing green days 'basket case' to her the day she left...!!
  10. What about that sorn form that you told me you filled in? You photocopied it and kept a copy before you sent it didn't you ... ;-) worked for me a few times with a kind word...
  11. Any car advert with a picture of 'clip on' wheel weights on an alloy wheel shows the owner is true numpty for allowing the numpty tyre fitters to get away with it!
  12. was this on teh 7th mate as most people would need more than 53 minutes notice to be honest!
  13. I saw something on one of the saturday/sundayu shows a while back where they do a survey for you and track the imaging on a laptop....Try calling some of these Energy performace certificate companies for advice as there are hundreds of them doing nothing at the moment!!
  14. currencies in the middle... http://markets.ft.com/ft/markets/overview.asp Converter in there somewhere too...
  15. SP1???????? Good luck if it's not!
  16. All on SP1 though? My main PC was running great till i installed this as a recommended update!! Now after all my reading i realise the service pack came out in March! Two issues; 1. Why has it taken so long to let me know that it's a recomended update? (had the PC since mid 2007, so why no update when it was released!) and 2. Why am i wasting my life away trying to solve it!:headvswal:headvswal
  17. Yeah done this AGAIN tonight! Finally tried the install in safe mode just to try and it gets to 100% after 2.5 hours and tells me it did'nt install! Now got to wait for it to revert changes! Some motherboards have issues i think (done alot of reading now!) and i need to go back to manufacturer i think.
  18. Exactly! Treat the quarter tank as empty and top up when low!! The question should read; "How much crap gets sucked up from the bottom of the tank when the fuel light comes on?":smash::smash:
  19. Swap PC's??!!! I have a laptop with XP that's never missed a beat. No real issue till i installed the 'recommended' download!! Sod it i'm off to bed now anyway!
  20. How are they checking for wear though? By sight alone? could be that the turbine wheel is unbalanced after reading the posted article? Something is not right as there are no throttle bodies on a derver! maybe the compressor veins are all unbalanced? only needs to be a few thousanths of an inch out and when it's spooling up is when it's noticable...but not by checking for wear by sight alone ;-) from same article; "Surge can occur on diesels when the turbo is attempting to pressurize the air at a higher pressure ratio than the compressor wheel can flow at a given speed. Diesels have no use for a Blow off Valve as they do not have a throttle plate"
  21. Well nearly an hour later again now and it's still shitsta! Runs fine in safe mode, locks up every 5 minutes in normal mode. and i've re-booted it about 40 times tonight and thats no exageration. If Microsoft had shops, i'd be inserting my PC in some sales assistants rump in the morning and demanding a replacement!
  22. You went the wrong way and missed Wales out!!!! West is best my friend!!
  23. Tell me about it. Service pack one has just made it useless...It won't run for 5 mins now without locking up!
