its sunday and im not going to mess with the big silver annoyance (my Z) today. does anyone know where to look for some nice bits? im looking for tasty bits to look at and mayb to buy. when i say tasty i dont mean to dress it up. i mean to make it go fast and not break. things like competition valves/cams/turbos/crank/stronger bearings, etc? anybody got contacts for convertions to roller bearings an other usefull stuff? like i said, not interested in dress up. just strong power :dance:

its like your father would like you to have when you pass your test. "you dont want that big, fast turbo monster car. you want something your friends will laugh at you in." it may be cheap but so is the bus and that looks better. :shock:

1. power 2. potential 3. cost (170mph for £5000 - on par with my blade) 4. driving position - feels like a proper sports car. skylines, etc feel like a fast cavalier in comparison 5. sound through straight stainless is almost sexual 6. handling - rear drive and 300hp :) 7. WOW factor. people who dont know what it is are in awe before getting in and totally blown away after, people who know what it is just respect it. 8. even though im ugly, ladys seem to run towards me when im in it. 9. it looks better than most stuff and goes faster than the rest. 10. pace and grace. The most refined high speed car in the world? 11. the climate control is better than any other system i have ever used. not just a cool breeze. total arctic blast. 12. its mine and even if it is broke i still love it :cool:

that isnt safety boost, mate. there should not be a misfire and i think safety is about 0.4-5 bar? deff not zero. sounds electronic. is your battery flat?

probably no use but i have a similar prob. but mine is at the end of 4th gear and about 5000rpm in top. feels like a speed restrictor but if i come off then back on it lets it go a bit further and so on. eventually it gets to the real limiter at about 7300rpm in top. is this right? Also, at 100mphor just over, my speedo stops reading and drops to zero. this makes the PAS revert to its lighter "town" setting and is quite a shock sometimes when cornering hard at these speeds. any ideas? cheers. si. :duffer:

what suspension are you running? if its adjustable drop the rear a little to throw the weight balance back to normal. if not i would still presume that weight loss would benefit. even if you have less traction the tyres have less work to do. take out the pass seat. its worth it - they weigh a tonne. and the carpets. and the dash. and the doors. and the boot. should be at around 1100kg by then ;o)

so basically its cheaper at the expense of your car and falling foul of the law? sounds like someone is making money for nothing. where do i get some? lol

nothing to do with the Z but it was on the radio about these "manufacturing plants" buying up red diesel and washing the dye out with a chemical. never thought about this before but does this mean we could be buying it through our pumps? and what chemical do they use? can it damage your engine? im a bit worried because my mate filled up at a local garage for about 6 months and had a loss of power (down from sewing machine to hairdryer) :rolleyes: and high wear on his TDi golf engine. anyone else had this? never thought it could be the diesel till i heard that. :nono:

i got 20 on a normal day and 38 on a bad day. i agree on the tailgaiter thing. there should have been one which said "you feel satisfied as they dissapear in a cloud of smoke" litterally from my Z!

I hate to say it but i got the sack on friday after the supervisor who hated me since i started told a few porkies to my boss. I know its a long shot but anyone know to a job in the Wolverhampton/surrounding areas? I can travel within reason, im hardworking and reliable. Hope i get something. Thanks all. si. :cry:

i've always found that more lag isnt a prob when you want loads of power. Maybe just my driving style but if im driving normally i dont actually use much power and in the Z the boost rarely goes past 0.1 bar. however, when im having a sillly its always working hard and because its always in the last 3000rpm the turbo's spin up quickley enough anyway. over the years i've owned a few different turbo cars, some with big turbo's and some without but generally if you can use the power it can make then lag shoouldnt be a prob. and as Kirbz mentioned there's always nitrous to spool them up or even a good anti-lag system. my mates dad has an evo 7 making 480bhp with an anti-lag and it drives like a stocker (just a lot faster) HTH

just realised that pic didnt work. the kit can be foung on http://www.turbo-kits.com/350Z_turbo_kits.html and i just checked- it is a bolt on kit for a totally stock engine. so with a few more mods there is big power in there somewhere.

i didnt think much of them when they came out either but i've seen a few now and they do grow on you. i found that turps substitute works best. just make sure its on and off quickly. as long as it comes off within about 10 mins its not a prob. wash the car after it. even if it splashes it will mark or worse if left. HTH. si :duffer:

clarkey: i know its for a 4wd, but so is the calibra box. they use some conversion plate or something and it is then a fwd box. was wandering if this would be possible on a skyline box?

Does anyone know if you can use a skyline gearbox to add a gear to the Z? I dont want to lose the cruising ability but i want a closer 'box so i want an extra gear. i know it isnt the same thing but they do it with the vauxhall 6-speed from the calibra turbo (with some relatively simple mods) so is it possible? anyone done it? any other box's i can use? or can i have a gear added to the standard box? Dont know if this has been discussed before but i cant find it on here by searching. I just keep getting stuff about speedo's. any help/advice appreciated. :)

Hi all. dont mean to be a pain or sound stupid but.... I brought a seat today to go in the Z. its a Corbeau and i got it cheap because there is no fitting kit. Does anyone know what the measurements for the seat mountings are as i am 60 miles away from the car for the next week and i want to get some mounts made up for it. any advice/info greatfully apreciated. si. :rolleyes:
