  1. yeah. £800 is more like it but its still a quick car for the cash. good on yer. im thinking of something like a nluebird turbo or a silvia.  just the idea of a bluebird on a track...
  2. you got an s13 for £400? you jammy get. you'll probably win in that! how about disconnecting the wastegate for the last race? :slap:  :D
  3. good luck,Mark. If nothing else you can always throw it away and fit a manual.
  4. not too sure on this one but i think the uk spec auto has an auto box oil cooler. this may be why you have the drain plug in the pan and not elswere. could be wrong, but if it fits it should be ok anyway i would have thought. as long as the drain plug clears everything in the 'box the only difference is you have a new drain plug.:) HTH. si.
  5. right, some of you will no doubt have seen the rambligs on on the topless's thread about the best car for money. how about it folks? anyone fancy getting a car for next to nowt that you dont care about and hammering it mercilessly into the ground around a track which it is probably totally out of its depth on? :D sounds like fun to me. we could even throw a charity element into it and get sponsors for how many laps they cover before they die/get crashed. anyone want to take it up? any moderators or club reps, etc fancy it? post up folks! cant wait:dance:
  6. another thought just crossed my tiny mind... have you got a low g/box oil level or old oil or low pressure/leak? i hear that auto's can be sensitive to this?
  7. do you have any other mods like launch/traction control which could be having an effect? i gotta admit i know sweet nowt about autos but im trying. :)
  8. and while im rambling, just thought i'd tell you all this is my 100th post;) :D
  9. back to the subject of cheap power cars.... how about the S13 200 SX? 180/200bhp and you can now get a good one for £1500 the other £2500 should take it past a Z. but then you spend £2500 on modding the Z.... bye 200 SX:D or.... the older supra (i know) turbo? cant remember the power figs but it has to have something about it. renault 21 turbo... not that fast but very cheap. can be had for £500. just a shame they are so fragile. sierra cossie £3000 up but still 220bhp and rear drive:D or if you are just going for outright power and stuff all else maybe an american? you can buy things with HUGE V8's in for a couple of thousand up and most will see over 300bhp standard. may have probs with weight and/ stopping/turning:eek: otherwise, buy a bike. lol or a 2.8i sierra and a big nitrous kit. thats should see 400bhp for a short while. lol
  10. yeah, mine always felt flimsy but i did the decent thing and blew it up before any crashes. :D how about old dinosaurs like the granny i mentioned? not very quick but it would be funny to see old unwealdy cars weaving all over the track and into one another. just reading bargain pages at the same time. there's a sierra 2.9i 4x4 for £200 ono !!! :D i may have found my weapon:rofl:
  11. i had an astra GTE 16v until the other day but a mate (read fool) came and offered me well over the odds for it. i laughed as i snatched his hand off. lol seriously though, old 80's/early 90's cars can be a laugh. imagine a track full of sierras, cavaliers, accords, renault 21's, etc. you can even pick up some half quick stuff like ren 21 tubs, maestro tubs, etc for virtually nothing. even the odd 5 GTT and uno are in for a couple of hundred quid. lets have one.
  12. let me know what you think. sounds like a laugh to me. old, sub £150 cars on a track!
  13. i was reading the thread "best value car" or something like that in recent posts. it seems the nutcases on here think it would be funny to have a go at racing old 2.8 capris, etc. lol its in general discussion if you wanna read it.
  14. no prob mate. i have bulb probs all the time. i think its the bumps around here. luckily though, the Z hasnt popped one yet *touches loads of wood*:D what do you think about this demolition derby idea?
  15. if its the same as the UK spec one i should think halfords would have one. if not they will probably still have them but may not list them so you may need to find the code out e.g. ph 550. If you are looking at an upgrade, you should be able to get them and they will probably be easier to get than messing with standard. and you get the bonus of a "get you home" bulb left over just in case. HTH. si.;)
  16. good idea. i'd particularly like to know (if a j-spec car has one and i take it there has to be a splashguard) which bright spark removed the plastic guard from under the air filter at the same time (?) as fitting an HKS airfilter:confused: does this go someway to explaning the f#'ed HKS filter i have now got that seems to have more crud on it than all my wheelarches put together? anyone gonna own up or was it "done in japan"? think i'll go for a Blitz next. they look pretty:D
  17. how about a 2.8 Granada i saw for £65 ono? slow and barely legal, but 2months tax and mot. demolition derby? :D
  18. havent time to check tt.net at mo. will later after work. thanks for the support. hope it goes ok.:( will be better if it does. good good.:)
  19. cheers, bagins. only prob i got that you havent is this is my only engine and i want it up and happy for the jan RR day.:D i fancy knowing what she is making:)
  20. I got loads of mods. Well not many but a couple of little ones. 1. HKS induction. (useless and worn out) 2. 3'' SS turbo back exhaust into jasma 4'' back boxes (nice sound, little power gain) 3. Ripspeed steering wheel 4. Greddy boost gauge 5. 1.0mm mig tips 6. Holes in at least 1 piston (i presume) after taking it out to "try it out" before getting it chipped to match the mig tips giving it 1.1 BAR and 1.2 overboost. (oops)
  21. OK, people. any helpful hints/tips/advice for the removal, disasembly and replacement/refurbishment of most of the Z engines major organs is reqd. Its going into a corner of my mates garage next week and wont see light untill i get it working properly again. Its prob gonna need a piston or two (oops) and while im at it its getting chipped, new crank and turbo seals and anything else which is reccomended by 3 or more people on here. So, shout up. what do i do to it? ;) P.S. even if you just post to take the  out of a usless guy trying to fix a very technical engine, please do. I can use the laugh. just please, be gentle.....;)
  22. thanks, guys. DaveW, im gonna go check it out now. Arthur, I was looking for an uprated set TBH, but i'll keep it in mind if the right ones arent forthcoming at the right price. thanks lads. keep 'em coming;)
  23. It looks like im gonna be needing some pistons/rings for my Z. Has anyone seen any good deals for cheap ones/good ones/both? Best i've seen so far is JE's for £460 pistons, £70 rings and shipping which i have yet to check, but am guessing at around £100? All help greatfully recieved. Thanks. si
  24. ok, guys... Still havent done comp check, but it sounds pistons/rings. All shouts on the best/cheapest/other options on new ones? If its broke, its gonna get faster/stronger because of it.;) :D
  25. thanks, guys. The PCV's were replaced at Zworld earlier today. I have heard that it may be blocked breathers? What are the chances of this? Hope it is, but im consigned to it being pistons or something else big.:( If it could be breathers, how hard is it to get to them? I dont mind the work. I'll do a compression test tomorrow. Cant see anything at the mo. Thanks again and any other help/comments/feedback is greatfully appreciated. cheers. si.;)
