if you are that stuck for room, go for it in the car. if someone else can do it, you can too. just have patience and a good workshop manual to hand. dont forget it may be a pain, but it is possible so sooner or later it will be done. just dont try to rush a pain job as this usually costs more than it achieves. good luck. si.;)
  2. Today i put mig tips in my car. 1.0mm. They worked a treat and boost went up to a healthy 1.0bar on my Greddy gauge. Good idea? not sure because it ran fine all day, smooth and powerful, but on the way home (taking it easy for the first time in the day) i started to smell oil. Checked oil pressure and fine, boost fine, temp fine. stopped and there was loads of smoke from under the bonnet. Left it shut for a min incase of fire, then opened the bonnet. oil all over the left hand rear of the engine bay and it was dripping down to smoke off the exhaust. went to check the oil level and found that the dipstick had blown itself out. I thought this was the end of my troubles as i put it back in and all seemed well, even under full boost. But... 2mins down the road and the same thing happened again as i was overtaking a car (and nailing it). same again. all seems well and im getting no smoke from the exhausts. any ideas? anyone else had this? is it a turbo/seal?are the seals replaceable if it is and is it worth it? someone please help. im really worried that its gonna be something bad. cheers. si.
  3. oh, and John, thanks for the offer, mate. I think i can handle the jets after looking at it in the engine bay, but help is always appreciated. What chip is it and how much do you want, please? Are they easy to fit? Im off work untill wednesday now, so im gonna fiddle. must sort those brakes out. I need payday to come!!!!!:)
  4. ok, i've been under the bonnet and had a look and i think i have sussed it. they go in the 2 little pipes under the final inlet pipes.... EASY!!!!!! :D :D :D just one more prob. i went to work in it to avoid boredom on the way and..... the brakes started grinding:mad: anyone know where i can get some upgraded disks/pads? rung nissan and after they stopped laughing got a quote of £75 front pads and £168 each front disks. seemed good enough, but then i remembered how many people change the brakes on these cars and mine were always prone to fade, so im after an inexpensive upgrade. any ideas? thanx. si.
  5. thanx, lads. im off to work now, but i'll have a good read later and have a go in the morn. any good brake conversions for little money or anyone know where you can get disks/pads? cheers. si.
  6. thanks, mate. already got an aftermarket boost guage (Greddy). It reads 0.4 bar on safety, 0.65 bar on normal, and sometimes if it is cold and running on octane booster goes a little over 0.7 bar. I think this is normal, but feels like the car could take much more (im thinking around 0.9 - 1.0 bar) does that sound reasonable?
  7. i raced a yellow TT auto the other day (wednesday, i think) and up to 100 there was little in it. Then my manual started to creep away, but the #'#;]'# limiter cut in at what im guessing to be around 125-130? any ideas?
  8. Hi, all. just wandering if anyone can help me. Does anyone have any photo's of where to fit the tips and/or a good method? I have only had the car a few weeks, but its craving for more boost. thanx. si. :D

  24. forgot to mention, boot changers come in all shapes and sizes and are deffinately not all the same. good hunting.
  25. not totally sure about this, but from my experience, nearly all stereo's go along the same lines. If you are changing the stereo and get a compatible changer to match the head unit, then they will work without the control box as they are usually stand alone. If, however you choose to keep the standard changer, you can usually get an adaptor for whichever head unit you are fitting as long as it has a changer control. All i've ever needed in the car is a constant live, an ignition live and a good earth. As for fitting places, any good installation centre should be able to do it and they can advise you on speakers to use with your standard surrounds. Usually speakers of the same size will fit as they are mostly universal. Whatever you do, dont pay over the odds for fitting because its a Z. It shouldnt cost any more to fit than in any other car, so if anyone gives you silly prices fone around. A lot of places hear "Z" and treble the price of the same job. No need. hope this helps. si:cool:
