Water pump?
Yup get torch and her make up mirror and look under the top water connection for the 2 hoses that go to each cylinder head. When the engine is warm and stopped. Droplets under hose conns to each cylinder head a likely cause. Hoses about £8 for the pair. Not too hard to change. Silicone gasket goo also needed for top connection. Heard they go every 3 years or so.

detonation with se-chip.
Take it also that the if the twin pop is the pukka kind that uses the airflow meter on only one bank of cylinders then the chip has been re programmed to multiply one bank of cylinders airflow X 2? If not you are fueling for only half the airflow and that could be a reason for detting due to excessively weak mixture. Then again maybe it wouldnt run very well either if this was the case. The other type of twin pop is just 2 cone filters mounted on a "Y" branch pipe that feeds into the stock airflow meter so the afm meters all the air the engine gulps. Other possibilities is an SE chip set up for 550 injectors but used with stock 370's. The squirt period would be shortened due to the bigger flow with the 550's. But like Smithy says check the timing first.

Bye bye Concorde - sniff
Just heard the Edinburgh one taking off and heading back souff again!!

turbo question
Hot hatches will consistently blow exhaust in his face if a turbo is seizec! If his is going right then maybe the boost connection hascome off the sensor.

What people think of my new Sig?
So you went over to the dark side;)

Sticky morning!
Specially the one right under the fuel pressure regulator. Its that pipe that goes down to the fuel injector rail. Its also in one of the hottest places and most likely to go brittle with age. You might have to take off the trim panel over the throttle cable to get acces to its screw clip. Better still get some 8mm high pressure fuel hose and spend and hour changing every one you can see. Fuel will spray in your face when you disconnect the ones on the filter! You are supposed to loose the pressure properly but a load of rags a cold engine and no smokers nearby and due care is do able. Next time you smell fuel look under the car- you'll see it dripping from the bell housing. It runs into the Vee under the plenum and down the back of the engine.

Caption Competition...
the vibe off that sub woofer really hits the old g spot doesnt it? Bet this gets the girlies hot!

Brake Feel
Other poss is slight wheel bearing wear that allows the disc ands hub to move enough to knock the pads back. You'd notice this effect most after turning on full lock as that puts a high sideways stress on the wheel.

How easy is it to damage turbos?
Its a bad sign all boost going - suggests the turbo was about to seize. Turbos depend on the film of oil on the shaft to "float" so if it goes even for a second it can spin dry. Ball bearing turbos might fare better. Even more important is your main and big end bearings - did you loose all oil pressure? Sound like you have no choice but to get the leak fixed and run it again with normal oil pressure. Is the Soarer a Vee engine like the zed? If so its the getting the turbos off the engine that is the big cost. A straight 6 usually has a turbo(s) that come off dead easy. Getting them rebuilt with new bearings usually is not that hard since the amount of turbo diesels on the road means a big increase in the number of companies who can rebuild turbos.

Tax
Many of us also tax and insure a second car. So we can hardly drive both at the same time but we already paid for the road tax twice. And while congrats are in order to Gordy becoming a dad. He can get stuffed if he thinks he can tap us for another £8billion for effin trains many of us dont/cant use!

is a NA crankshaft the same as a TT??
So does that mean the lower compression ratio of the tt is got by different pistons and conrods? or bigger combustion chambers in the heads?

BP Performance fuels
Noticed that the claims for these fuels are all fishy, feels better goes better etc etc but nobody has published clear objective proof with clear comparisons afaik

Hicas Arm!!!
Plus you can get stock rear shocks for an import for £30 - £40 ish each but UK model ones are about £130 each with the 2 position soft hard gizmo inside.

wheel nut torque
Its not and if you plaster a screw thread in a good lubricant it can be tightened much more using less torque as less of the torque is needed to overcome friction - result more tension stress on the stud.
-
wheel nut torque
If they splash copaslip or grease over the threads before hitting it with an air impact wrench the actual torque that can be achieved can be way higher than the tool setting. I get wheel balance problems if unevenly torqued but may be its due to the BBS 18" wheels distorting or the hub getting distorted by them. Was really bad after it had been copaslipoed and done with an air tool after they had re balanced the wheels

Front upper arms
Cant say I know enough to give good advice here abut at least Stillen is the right name for zed stuff. Must be others here with adjustable top links that dont bend. Otherwise you could rebuild yours and get shims to do the adjustments. Much simpler.

Nismo tension rod bushes
The Nismo ones are more like the originals with a steel sleeve. This means pressing in using a proper machine shop press and drift. The poly ones can be fitted with a simple big bench vice - theres no steel sleeve to damage and you simply squash em in. Bear in mind the debate above on poly bushes. Superflex supplied mine and so far no problems. I would be worried about any no name brand ones supplied by anyone in case these were related to the metal fatigue issue. I notice theres been no admission as to the make used in the sticky case above

Gestapo
Wasnt there another lad had a problem when a whole trainload of commuters saw what he was doing with his goat? The bit about how he used his belt to lasso it and reign it in really made me chuckle;) The vet said the goat seemed bewildered but otherwise OK. sorry to digress

Front upper arms
Just rechecked the piccys - not the same as the ones you are looking at but I have a feeling they get tarred with the same brush as the T style design puts huge stress on the joints. Maybe my imagination but I thought there were piccys of bent coloured ones too somewheres.
-
Front upper arms
Beware. Dont use those pretty coloured things!!! Do a search on top links. There are some horror stories about those very things bending for no apparent reason! Well prolly a pothole but not a special one! Design defect. Saw piccys on here At least with the Nismo stuff you know its Nissan approved

air filters
Silver How much are they? My old K&N panel ones look quite clean?
-
Front upper arms
Whats a tbo? For front top links you can get Nismo Skyline bushes from Middlehurst Nissan, St Helens. Did mine with them - Bushes were about £156 delivered. Not too difficult to do an uprate on standard and a lot cheaper than new top links.
-
UK zeds - how many r left ?
92k UK orig tubs 136+k Rear OS wheel arch couple of bubbles => serious 2p sized repair. Otherwise mostly OK
-
air filters
Mine was running K&N panel filters but I fitted a K&N induction kit type filter. Definite performance advantage. The (innacurate I know) boost guage goes a little bit higher than it did. I think the standard air box can be part of the limit on air flow. K&N panel filters possibly good for 3 or 4bhp and an intake kit around 10-15. US Stillen site claims 18!
