  1. Yes very true, lets face it owning and maintaining a zed it is a labour of love rather than cost anyhow, but fair to say it is far from complete yet, Summer in the UK is short enough as it is without wasting any part of it, I do wish redwine 300 well for his venture into zed repair though. Jeff
  2. Easy to read, imagine a JWT chip with slight adjustments and the eprom tagged to show as Turde Niz and you have it, have looked at many variations and they all have the same theme. Jeff
  3. Admire your resolve, but if you had taken my advise of a repair in place it would have been done in one day and no hassle at less than your paying for the trouble of doing it the way you are, and after the repair it is actually stronger than the original, but hey ho good luck anyhow. Jeff
  4. Unless it is excessive amounts of oil it is normal, stock sparkplugs are best NGK PFR6B-11C suit UK fuel and driving conditions. Jeff
  5. Yes shame you never got it earlier would have been a pleasure to help you out but hey ho, always here for tech advice if you need it by pm or email in fact for anyone here: jeff@zedworld.co.uk Jeff Zedworld Workshop
  6. So easy to get drawn in to the series of decision`s you made by the pub talk folk who mostly know sweet FA about the subject, and the one (s )who came storming on to the 300zx scene a few years back, turning the tables upside down on what was then acceptable and proven power increases, said mapper professing to know the inner secrets of safely extracting massive power with his wizard mapping skills. Time has been the judge and jury of this with so may broken engines and disappointing results on the non broken engines, a mass of money wasted with little or no comeback and zed`s dispatched to breaker level as a consequence. Jeff
  7. No far, far from it, it is more about been realistic, forcing an engine to produce upwards of double the original power is fool hardy on a 25 year old engine and the mappers who suggest otherwise especially with standard engine should not be entertained, small increases that retain all of the original character of the engine signature will always pay off in driving pleasure, I have driven way too many high bhp zeds that are either pigs to handle or basically produce the power so far up the rev range that between traffic lights a sorted hot hatch will leave you for dead, use loads of fuel and black smoke under wot ! Keep it real and not just for pub talk figures its way less likely to break and you will get actual use of it.. Jeff
  8. Think you correct in your thinking in the main, however, been advised badly on potential high output that can be squeezed out of an engine especially older engine by mapping etc. settling on a sensible and usable power bhp with non of the pub talk bragging is so much better, it retains the usability and more of the original character that Nissan built in to it, amazes me how some of these so called mapping experts think they know better than Nissan engineers. Jeff
  9. Before anything else take a couple of minutes to check the main battery fuse, this is located in the slim fuse box under the bonnet on the drivers side next to the brake master cylinder, see the picture, the blue fuse is actually a thermal link and looks like a bad fuse repair, it is not. Remove the fuse and first check the thermal link for continuity and then look at the fuse holder, these can suffer from corrosion, it then becomes a bad connection and overheat leading to burning / melting of the holder, this then loses connection, to check this correctly may need to undo the fuse holder and look underneath at the cables ( disconnect battery whilst doing this ) Jeff
  10. Any avid gangster book reader is going to love this, as Aston born myself just the name Fewtrell was as serious as it could be and basically DO NOT MESS WITH THIS FAMILY , still I am amazed to find out they actually took on the Kray Twins and if it had not been for the Fewtrells Birmingham would have become another of Ronnie and Reggies manor !! Soon to be made into a film I have ordered part 1 and 2, the second has some controversial alternatives to the 1974 IRA Birmingham pub bombings, looks set to be a best seller. 11. Thanks guys for the kind words. Jeff
  12. A fair few here will be familiar with Cassie our lab who was around all of the time at Zedworld in the office, reception and workshop helping out. Well she had a massive violent seizure early hours of Thursday morning, the emergency vet raced to our villa and gave her 5 injections and morphine to get the seizure to stop, this took almost an hour. We then could get her into the car and down to the vet clinic, there they worked on her for another hour nearly, two drips, ice blocks, cooling blankets and more drugs. Sadly despite every effort they could not wake her, she had become comatose, the fit had caused to over heat so badly her temp had risen to 42 deg, hence the ice etc. the vet said most likely there would be brain damage of some kind and possible Cassie would not fully come back if they could wake her, only a cct scan may show the original cause and anyhow the upshot of that would be brain surgery without any guarantee of success. Leaving her to wake up naturally was not possible as it could take hours, weeks , months or never. At 1.30am we had to make the most heartbreaking decision, to let her go, pet owners will understand the enormity of this and the guilt that your playing at God, but we said our farewell to our darling girl and the vet administered the go to sleep injection and it was done, all in the room ( 6 adults ) including the vet were devastated ! Suffice to say, the villa, garden and pool look empty, there is a massive void now and we know it has been only a couple of days we are struggling with how to live with out her, I know that sounds soft but I can tell you all, men do cry and feel just like the ladies and boy it hurts like hell ! Some pics of before..... and now she is back with her beloved Libby now. Jeff Finally back with Libby...
  13. So time moves on and of the many, many things we love about living in Portugal one that stands out is the calm and quiet of the motorway`s, had a nice 280 mile round trip up to Lisbon a couple of weeks ago to watch Adele in Concert at the Meo Arena. The journey was great,a little sun, smooth road surface and this >>>>>> Even as we approached Lisbon bridge it was clear and fuss free >>>>>>> Ok so the road has a toll but the entire journey cost was just 20 Euro`s a small cost to pay for smooth and well cared for road with little in the way of traffic, we even had a break at an idyllic rest spot, not your average Granada service stop, food was cheap and place set up for outside picnic`s. in the picture check out the motorway and lack of cars, this is the main North / South route, so equivalent to the M1 in the UK.....roll on Summer eh!! Jeff
  14. Ok in answer to that you more or less hit it on the head in principle and no bother your words are taken as intended Stephen I get that 100% and respect it fully, but there is a level of naivity here which is screaming out, with case after case after case from said TWO traders who work along side each other and yes one is without doubt my arch nemesis and yes I know A LOT of what is going on that other`s do not. Retirement to me is still been in touch with what is happening and to this end still do plenty of customer referral for old and even new customers who still contact me every week via the private message here, Facebook, e-mails all served by me with tech answers, advise and help, because I love it and helping owners now is great that I have that extra time to put in and at no financial gain to me at all. The 300zx scene is been irreparably damaged by the actions of some and without any intervention it will be doomed to a slow death with the marque`s reputation left in tatters and the values will be effected. My point I guess is the level of complicit activity within a group that frequent here and on Fb etc. yes I have a personal gripe but that is now far out weighed by damage caused by these fools who are in it for the fast buck and nothing else. The psychology of trading or been a trader is complex and often involves a lot of personal sacrifice and support from your family "to go it alone" been able to look back at my near twenty years associated around zeds it was a passion to learn and be involved with what was then a supercar and the owners of those supercars all started on the byword / phrase : Not so much a garage.......... but enthusiasts with FULL workshop facilities! We learned to grow into a business world from the point of an enthusiast not just to make quick cash from the offset!! that is my point, its about personality, and trust, just take a look at the link below from 10+ years ago and tell me the fools I got involved with from Derby have this level of commitment and for sure do not possess an ounce of integrity ( trust me I got well burnt from that ) and that for me is the rub and the point! this is not about me any more its about keeping the Z32 community going because they will kill it off and happily move on to another set of targets. http://www.zedworld.co.uk/wizzc.html Jeff
  15. Take a look.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/322135740511 Tuned by a 300zx specialist, lots of receipts, Dyno print out etc !! Bad bits, Burning oil, smokes on acceleration. Another Nottingham special  BEWARE OF MAPPING SHARKS Get your zed mapped and transform it ....... into a breaker !!! Jeff
  16. Crikey in the day I saw off many breakers in far better condition than that!! but times are changes as zeds get rarer I guess, good luck feller. Jeff
  17. Your correct, when using auto function its drops then power relay out to stop it when it senses the over current at the top of travel, sounds like you have mechanical problems anyhow, any tightness should trip the auto function, as it is not it seems you have both mechanical and auto amp faults. However one other thing you mentioned after reinstalling the direction altered as in the up/ down became down/up. this might account for the auto function issues. As your changing both the motor assembly and the amp I am sure the problem will be then solved. Jeff
  18. Top fella Sparky  Jeff
  19. Sparky, just a side note, considering the info and help your getting here would be might be a nice gesture to become a subscribed member now. Jeff
  20. Predicted ignition timing is high when cold that is normal, the reason your timing stays around 25 deg as it warms up is it looks to be an auto converted to manual and the neutral switch is not connected. Jeff
