Which series is best?
Later cars had 1 Less insulation 2 Thinner carpets 3 Missing rear blind 4 Less underseal 5 No vvt 6 engine components not enamel coated 7 Lower spec ac / heating controls 8 Thinner cloth on trim and seats 9 Nasty 16 bit ecu 10 No turbo gauge New spec choice from S R and 99 spec spoilers, bumpers, side skirts etc. Recaro seats, xenon headlamps...... mid range series 4 are about the best of the lot for specification, but seen way to many 98 + zeds not in good order underneath, almost they used different metal? New problem....LOL
The item that can raise the tick over speed like you mention is the throttle position sensor, the connection is the first thing to check as if the hard idle switch is shown as open the idle speed will raise as it thinks your pulling away. The electrical circuit that the Tps and hard idle is wired back to the ecu passes through the passenger footwear and under the targa drain pipe. Any issue with leaking water onto the connections causes odd gear change speeds and even fail to change above third gear. See if there any codes stored in the ecu, Google the easy way to do this, will be a good start point, the starter issue could be a bad battery connection or the starter is loose on the gearbox. Jeff

Identify the Part time.
The recess and the threaded hole was originally where the early import seat belt reel fitted, the plastic going into the recess was there to keep the belt dry, the control unit you have there I am sure is part of the alarm, have seen Nissan sirens in the door also, it has just been fitted there as the place was available. The obsession with "Fake News"
News makes money, be it from sponsored links or getting one on other news agencies, the advent of social media has served to grow the phenomena even more, added to that, smart phones buzzing away every two minutes with the latest news feed items and Facebook awash with scandalous fake news that is shared and liked the world around in just a few minutes, it is no wonder, it seems to appease the masses and gives the less then true aspect of most news credence. Facebook is among the worse of the bunch along with twitter and such like for not only propagating fake, unreal, unchecked news, but actually actively nurtures it, I still see with shock how many accordingly bright people will share some absolute *****cks without checking it out at least on Google ( erm ?) I choose to wait and see if a news item is real before commenting. Jeff

LHD Breaker ?
Ok thanks anyway, all sorted now. Jeff

Don`t bid its a shitter !!
What is wrong with the guys bidding this zed up, reading the needs doing list is extensive, the corrosion alone is going to cost and all of the service items marked as done inc things like the cambelt where at least 7 years ago ! so that means they all need doing again be it parked up since 2007 or not. Seriously a UK car ? already rusty outer sills back and front, engine looks like its been open to the elements, by the time its had the corrosion, painting, and engine work done it will already be a money pit, goodness knows what it is like underneath, just to add injury to insult the receipts show it had lots of work done at Ztech....oh my it just gets worse?? Duel fuel pumps
Out of interest what are your trying to achieve with two pumps, sure the stock fuel line from the tank have a maximum flow so assume you mean to fit twin delivery pipes? how does this work at the injector rail ? is there a twin intake port fuel rail available? guessing you will need twin return pipes back to the tank to maintain the correct fuel rail pressure to match the volume of fuel going into the rail in relation to the maximuim that can flow through the injectors ( how ever big ) Jeff

Jae 2017
It's the Japanese scene that is more expensive a five minute Google search reveals scores of bigger and cheaper shows. The link below is an organiser advert for three venues all interesting with a mix of new and older classics, food, entertainment, competitions etc. £9 for adult £6 for kids up to 15 years old. No way is JAE better than these other guys, it's the Japanese factor, nothing else, would not mind but the last three JAE I went to were pants with maybe three traders and more lager swigging than car talk....shame I remember the early days of JAE at Northampton was brilliant, proper car show for enthusiasts, it's all got too serious and corporate these days, well the Japanese scene anyway. Great news the venue is back in Peterborough, but £60 each when paying at the gate is still too much for many. Jeff

rear shock absorbers dust boots
Doubt refurb would be cost effective even if the could be, if you want to stay with genuine Nissan units you have the choice of fitting Jap spec non electric one`s for less money and this is by far the most common way forward, the chance is you have never activated the electric adjustment anyway as Nissan did not fit an additional switch on UK models unlike US models. The price of genuine Nissan shocks has shot up over the past 4 or 5 years, once around £35 each they are more like £135 each now for Jap spec and £230 each for UK spec, after market one`s are another option and likely less expensive than genuine Nissan. rear shock absorbers dust boots
Well maybe, a good shock with want to expand to its longest length with quite some force required to compress, it and should be smooth and progressive and when released pop straight back up. To clarify the shocks are gas filled and the oil section is to aid cooling of the shock, as the shocks form an essential part of the rear suspension anything lacking shock wise will have a distinct effect. Loose feeling at the rear of the car similar to when the hicas is worn is one and bouncing another, can be observed by looking in the door mirrors while driving and see the excessive bounce. Jeff

rear shock absorbers dust boots
Have you checked the shocks are any good? reason I mention that is the numerous rear shocks we changed over the years that were worn out also had disintegrated rubber boots, its a time thing of course and in most cases it was possible to call the state of the shocks by the state of the rubber boots. 2000rpm missfire / low poor idle
Maybe worth checking compression on the drivers side of the engine, if they are all much lower than the good side it is very likely a cambelt, cam timing issue. Jeff
