Auto dim rear view mirror
Nice work sayers, my last two BMW and Lynda`s Audi had / have them fitted, first BMW had an electric rear blind that was up most of the time, my current BMW I had the back glass limo black to stop the Algarve sun crisping my back seats and the Audi comes with factory black rear windows so all in all never get to see them working LOL Jeff

Annoying mot stuff
From the point of view of car owners, paying for a pre-mot will often be met with a reluctance as from the view of a garage to do an effective mot pre-test means you need to do a standard full mot test and the cost of such other wise it will have no merit. So basically the owner pays for two full tests one as a pre and one as the actual test, if you just have a test and fail on an item and can be fixed quickly you get a free retest, so in essence a pre-mot is not worth it in many ways. Exactly, case in point. Jeff

Oh the GNR are getting new weapon`s !!
Suppose it was only time I guess but the GNR are been equipped with a new breed of patrol car, seen as most of them have to do with ageing Skoda Octavia`S ( not RS one`s ) or lesser cars, can imagine the scramble for the keys at the station on the morning shift !! LOL Jeff

Annoying mot stuff
Very similar to here in Portugal, the IPO inspection is far more laid back, if you get a fail they actually give you a one month certificate to get the work done, and only test the fail items next time, and as in Ni can go back to any testing station. Mostly all IPO stations are welcoming and they have NO agenda to fail or pass your car as they do not do any mechanical work themselves. The one close by me in Porches, is a nice relaxed place, nice garden at the front, waiting area that a main dealer would be proud of free drinks and wide screen tv etc. and you just turn up and as there is often a surplus of testers get seen straight away and best of all 38 Euro. Annoying mot stuff
Tell you what pees me off with MOT testers, is there inability to all work from the same page, why oh why do they put stupid ass advisories that make no sense, and one`s that spoil a completely unblemished 10 year MOT record. "Unable to complete check underneath due to under tray covers fitted " Argh !! the manufacturer fitted them AND the last 9 TESTER realised there was NO need to mention you could not see the SUMP ????? Then if you go to Halfords for an MOT then what do you expect ?? Rant over Jeff

300zx windscreens - difficulty in getting replacements.
Yes Si the top seal not the screen. On similar note, several years ago I posted here a company in Tamworth who had 20 blue screens in stock that were also quick clear heated like Ford one`s and the take up was erm zero, despite the fact they were under £200 then, times change and things get harder to source would be a different case now I bet. Problem with servo after Hicas lights up
So with the voltmeter set to 12volt or less and AC not DC you earth down the black lead and use the red lead to probe screw A for speed signal input, with the engine running and the car in first gear raise the engine revs slightly and your looking for a reading of maybe 1 to 3 volts. If you get no reading at position A and assuming there is no delimter ( jap spec ) then the speed sensor in the gearbox is suspect. If you get a speed signal at screw A then try screw B this is the output from the speedo head that feeds all the other modules such as auto box, cruise control etc. if you get no signal here then the speedo is at fault. Going back to a speedo delimiter, if one is fitted it will be cut in to the A line to connector position either on the speedo track or in the loom, you will need to check either side if this to prove that part of the signal route. Hope that helps. Jeff

Twin Turbo top hose available
Here is a used but really good top hose with OEM clips, the rubber is very pliable and the edges have no splits, usable now or put aside as a spare. Jeff

Problem with servo after Hicas lights up
Ha ha o wise one indeed, you need to do some tests to determine what you already know, the problem is been caused by a loss of the speed signal. It could be the speedo head input / output or prior to the speedo head, easy way to determine is have the rear wheels jacked up off the floor by a couple of inches, then you can make voltage tests on the back of the speedo whilst effectively driving the car, albeit stationary and see where the issue is. I will do a little diagram later when I am at my other pc, do not worry we will get its sorted between us. Jeff
