Can JDM Pearlescent White paint be sourced in the UK?
Problem with any paint codes is the car may have been painted before and not to the exact code, maybe a shade lighter or darker and not until any new paint is applied will you know. Now any pearlescent paint is subject to a whole raft of issues when it comes to matching, paint code aside the amount of pearl applied, the direction it sprayed on and the mix. Its a lottery when painting part panel with pearlescent colours, a full respray is often the only solution, making sure all bumpers and panels taken off the car are done at the same time by the same painter. Unable to align rear light centrepanel
Have a look at the light rather than the centre panel, just in case the sealing mastic behind the light is less thick in that area so the light unit is fitted unlevel. Not a real known problem in that area, unless the rear panel has been repaired in the past maybe. Jeff TT

Odd mappping question
Hi guys, take a look at the ConZult mapping screen shot, the mapping is for a mid ninetys non turbo, no running issues, just a flipping strange map, any thoughts why it would be so odd looking ???????? Jeff TT

Surprise engine oil leak
You can never get bored with Zed engines that's for sure, with the right hand cambelt cover removed on this one it looked like an oil tanker had dropped its cargo off in there! seen this many times but not with no evidence of the leak before the cover was removed. More dismantling and it gets no better!! The inside of the plastic covers where dripping! So a strip down to check out the cam seals was in order. The pulleys, tensioner, sprockets etc. all removed for degreasing All cleaned and refitted sorted it out The cambelt was in very poor condition ( old ) and the oil has made it feel really odd, it looked set to let go anytime! New owner has leaned a lesson really early in this Z ownership, the odd thing was there was no real give away that the leak was so bad, usually with leaking cam seals oil shows out but not here, the right hand cam cover is not too bad to release ( not fully remove) and maybe a good idea to add this quick check to say your annual service. Sill/Arch repair
Definately go for the replacement panels then, our welder has 30+ years experience so its a no brainer for him. Good luck with the repair. Jeff TT

Sill/Arch repair
No worries matey, sometimes better to catch it sooner before it advances, web linky here http://www.zedworld.co.uk/wizzai.html Jeff TT

Sill/Arch repair
Easy enough fix for a tame welder, no need for replacement panels if using a skilled guy, DIY fix it may well be best to use a new panel. Jeff TT BEFORE AFTER

Leaking exhaust warnings
Exhaust noise and leaks can be real annoying but often rarely viewed as dangerous , however as we all know exhaust fumes are extremely poisonous and should not be taken lightly. Essentially any combustion fumes that enter the cabin area can soon become a recipe for disaster especially as it can not always be not detected, and also any exposure is culmative meaning small regular exposure can tot up to a lethal amount let alone headaches and drowsiness. So bearing that in mind take a look at the photo's below, a zed with a very serious exhaust leak at the rear of the turbo elbow. The position if the leak is slightly forward of the bullhead and very close to the grommet where the ecu loom passed through and also the grommet for the air con drip pipe, any issue with these seals could compromise the cabin seal. So the zed in question is a later model and has the pre-cat fitted on the passenger side and of course this is the side with the leak. The pre-cat makes removal that little bit less accessible, not impossible just more of a ball ache, doing this job on your back using a trolley jack would be an absolute pig so anyone who has done it that way take a bow! Just a heads up for us all really, and of course due to where the exhausts resides it generally goes unchecked, maybe an occasional check on a ramp is a good idea especially if the exhaust has been fitted a long tine ago. Jeff TT Pre-cat still attached to the turbo but the second cat and pipe removed. Gasket failure caused the black /soot marking by the bottom studs New and old gaskets side by side, gasket failure due to loose/ missing lower nuts New gasket shown against pre-cat New gasket shown in place

safety mode
If you not driving it then safety or not it will not matter, only really effects things when on the road,a ConZult or built in diagnostic will show a safety code if its there. Jeff TT

Turbos
Remember if the engine is in fact from a manual car you will need to fit the adapter to support the torque convertor, otherwise you will have terminal gearbox damage very quickly. Jeff TT

Quick tech guessing game
Greenish? erm well depends on what the mapping in the ecu, a ConZult test would indicate what the ecu is expecting to be fitted. Jeff TT

Quick tech guessing game
Damm I should have said any one called jimmer is not allowed to answer !!and Mid-wales-zx! you were right too! This is the fourth twin turbo we have seen this year alone with non turbo injectors fitted!!! possibly a sign of the times and engines been made up from broken one`s in back street garages! Who ever did this one left it with huge air leak thanks to the old plenum gasket! bizzarley the injector seals look very new so why on earth not do the job right, thing is when the wrong injectors are fitted the engine will never run right.
