  1. Why not just remove the hicas bulb.....simples. Jeff
  2. This is what you need, most popular colour is 6000k not as blue as 8000k but a whiter appearance then 4500k which is used by most standard fit units on new cars. E-bay is full of suppliers and at around £20 these days for the slim ballast units they are cheaper than upgraded bulbs. Jeff
Espoir qui aide JC Jeff Ok Jc your English is just fine and a whole lot better than my French thats for sure!! So firstly yes the 8 bit ecu can be fitted to the 16 bit equiped zeds, but I think you may have misunderstood the OB2 compliant protocol of the zed 16 bit ecu, it is early generation and does not have the capability of a later car systems as new cars now have canbus electrical systems (daisy chain, addressed electrical sytem) and this gives true compliance such as bringing the eml (engine light) on when say an o2 sensor is malfunctioning or similar and can monitor with feedback such things as torque spread across the engine with great accuracy as there is constant feedback on all sensors and active units unlike on a zed which has very little. The 16 bit ecu however does possess faster and greater amount of processing power and also in standard form was designed to iron out a lot of the emission issues when the design of the engine was changed on the later zeds. As Noz mentioned above he has the capability of tuning the 16 bit ecu by using a sister board, as I understand it and having only seen a couple both ASH and JWT do the same without using a sister board but frankly I would imagine it achieves same thing using a different method. What is it your looking to be able to do as the ASH ecu should be about as good as it gets for a16 bit, is it just to use ethanol? just wondered why? Hope that helps JC Jeff
  4. Non of the 16bit ecu are true OBC2 so are still limited in their self diagnostic, there is less available generic chip tuning for 16 bit ecu so retro fitting an 8 bit ecu is the most common way of getting around the problem and will work fine. Jeff
  5. Ok have checked the records and the engine was purchased in April and shipped in May 2012 after it was prepared, new cambelt, water pump, thermostat, inlet hoses , re cranks seal, crank spigot. As always I have the pictures to show the prep, packaging and shipping day, not sure why the issue with the dipstick I assume it was shipped without it to you by the seller? there was other items sent at the time we shipped it to him and are fixed down to the pallet in the pictures. Jeff ex- Zedworld
  6. Hello Aitor, The dipsticks are all the same size, are you saying your oil dipstick would not fit fully down? if you are there is a possibility there is something down there like a part of the old dipstick!! You mentioned you bought the engine from Zedworld, I expect you have mixed up the name with some one else as we have not supplied an engine to anyone in Bilbao?? Jeff X Zedworld
  7. I usually open the nipple thats is easiest to see first and the other one after, what was the run up to the issue? Jeff ex Zedworld[/color]
  8. The oil is just misting at the moment, the cam seals are still suspect but just in early stages, as said above the pulleys themselves can leak at the rear or even if a line has been caused in the seal location but this would show more like a more fuller leak rather than misting, from the pics the oil has yet to get on the belt which is why there was no tell tail signs at the top of the cambelt covers. 9. David Marshall who is the Chief Executive of Scottish Tennis speaking on Sky news just thanked the whole nation for the support and said its a day for Britain to be proud....David Marshall is Scottish and proud like all Brits should be. Jeff
  10. Some times the master cylinder gets air trapped behind the piston, what you need to do is with an assistant ready at the ABS with a bleed tube into a container and a 10 mm spanner on the bleed screw. Now pump the brake pedal quickly 15 times and when done hold at the bottom and tell the assistant to open the bleed, in most cases the extra built up pressure will cause a sudden rush and pull the air from the master cylinder, if not just repeat. One important point is the piston and seal do not normally go all the way down the cylinder and actually pushing it this low down can some times pop the seal, to prevent this do not go all the way to the bottom and the easiest way to deal with this is to place a bit of wood or similar under the brake pedal to actually prevent it going to the floor. 11. Ah yes was in the workshop from 7.00am till 12;30pm and then home!! Jeff
  12. English, Scottish or resident of Nardia makes no difference when such skill and excellent in his field is united in a single outcome for the country as a whole, even the the Scottish pm was enjoying the match with David Cameron just heard on Sky news the Queen has sent a message to Andy Murray congratulating him Jeff
  13. The best tennis I have ever watched both players were brilliant but Andy ruled!!! Jeff
  14. Murray has done it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First British mens WIMBLEDON CHAMPION in 77 years
  15. Back to back comparisons or before and after results are always nice, know to at least two zeds that have done the terraclean process recently with good results, much better emissons, pick up and mpg. Was something we had considered at Zedworld in the past however maybe something Mark may take on in time. Jeff ex Zedworld
  16. Always keen to see zeds saved and owners avoid over spending if I can, shame his local garage would not do it as it would of saved on recovery cost. Jeff ex zedworld
  17. Autobox should really be a checked every 24k miles so not an massive amount you need to do, however as most zeds are not used full time every two to three years should be used as a service interval as well as an after market fluid cooler. 18. **Update** So with some whinning and moaning we got enough drive to get the zed on the ramp. As we thought the when the sump was removed there was a lot of silt sitting on all of the surfaces and in the sump, there was no long fibres and no metal at all on the sump magnet just old oil and silt. The sump went into the parts washer and the strainer removed and it joined the sump in the parts washer too, whilst that was going on the pipes and cooler was flushed out with the air line and brake cleaner until all ran clear ( messy job!!) The sump and strainer and refitted with new seals and the box refilled with some fresh Dexron lll and the engine started, no noise and drive engaged just as it should. 10 miles of testing and a very happy gearbox performing as its should with no noise and all gears and overdrive and kick down working well. Of course predicting how long something will last is difficult but should be ok as there was no fibres or metal parts. Jeff ex Zedworld
  19. Blimey Mark whats all this then??? Jeff ex Zedworld
  20. Jeff TT signing off (Zedworld) Well it is with a heavy heart that I announce from today my 14+ year association with the 300zx and the owners both on and not on this forum will come to an end. It has been a long educational business trip that has supplied a huge amount of highs and a few odd blips but as a whole its been a buzz, and to say it has been a big part of my life is a major understatement. Of course its has not been all of my making and it would be remit of me to not mention a few names that have been instrumental in the building and maintaining of the Zedworld creation. A big thanks to Jamie our son who worked along side me for the best part of eight years and whilst learning fast he still managed to show the old man a few tricks along the way! A big thanks to Danielle our daughter who helped with many of the open day functions helping make the visitors feel welcome with chat, tea and food ( cooked by Lynda) A super big thanks to my lovely Lynda of which many of you guys will know well, Lynda has been the cement in the Zedworld building blocks, keeping not only the large administration side of the business in order but dealing as a front of house host with chat, tea / coffer and toast to many, there is simply no way Zedworld could have become what it has without Lynda`s support and help. With the future of the 300zx to carry on for years to come we thought it was time for us to take a break and let new blood take the Zedworld brand forward, so we are off to semi retirement in Portugal, but will pop back on here now and again I am sure. So there we have it, its been a huge blast guys and girls and whilst I am about to sign off I do have one more announcement and that is Zedworld is to carry on under new management so whilst bidding farewell from me and the Zedworld gang I would like you to welcome the new owner's and join me in wishing them well in their new venture, I expect they will be along very soon to tell you more of their future plans, I will be about for a week or so during hand over so if there any questions or concerns please either pm me or e-mail me at jeff@zedworld.co.uk A massive thanks to all of our customers many of which have become good friends and thanks to the 300zx forum for providing a platform for us and you all to enjoy the Nissan 300zx Farewell to all Jeff TT Lynda Jamie Danielle Libby ( in doggy heaven) Cassie
  21. Hi Alan, just sent you an email. Cheers Jeff
  22. Give us a call at Zedworld Ali. Cheers Jeff
  23. So a zed in the workshop this week was in for cambelt and other work including sorting the leaking exhaust sound. The zed had been treated to a couple if turbo`s prior to arriving at us, the owner had bravely removed the engine removed and refitted the turbo`s after refitted the engine did not fancy tackling the cambelt. So after the cambelt was done the exhaust sound led us to the near side turbo and a little look down there with the battery removed revealed a little mistake when the turbo was refittted. Was a little surprised to see that the tab bracket that should be under the nuts was actually between the flange of the exhaust manifold and the turbo body, little chance a seal could be made. Unfortunately no alternative but the turbo had to be removed, with the down pipe and turbo elbow removed the issue can be seen more clearly, and with the turbo whipped off the sooty manifold leak can be seen. The owner was suitable peed when it was found what the problem was, a bugger when you make a mistake yourself, oh and he is ok with me posting it here. Jeff TT
  24. Did you try the fluid change and strainer clean out ? unless the auto-box specialist inspected inside the box their diagnosis may be less accurate then they said, rebuilding the box will fix it what ever the issue be it terminal or a basic clean out....have advised many over the years who later say the clean out worked. Jeff TT
