rear inner tie rod removel help
Ok have use your pic to show it and marked the parts A B C So on the end that you have undone the arm from (A) you now only have B &C fixed in the steering ram, you need to release these, C is the locknut and needs undone slightly with water pump pliers or similar, once this is undone both B & C will undo as one unit and remove completely. Now you can see the ram shaft, if you look close you can see it has flats on it a 14 mm spanner will fit these, caution before you do anything else you must screw the old arm back in, not fully tight but you will see why in a moment. So back to the other hicas arm with a spanner on the A part and the now 14 mm spanner holding the inner ram shaft you can undo the other arm. Now if you had not put the old arm back in at the 14 mm spanner end as the tube is hollow it would have squashed it out of shape!! So now with both arms loose remove them both, reinstate B & C and tighten, loose fit both new arms and tighten against each other with two spanners, and that's it. Jeff TT

Gearbox query...
Don`t worry about the 2 square plates they were simply for for cable loom clips, most have already been snipped off now for the auto box loom. Have you got the small 10 mm bolt in at the base of the dipstick yet and did the seal on the dipstick stay in place? Jeff TT

rear inner tie rod removel help
You need to take the gaitor off the other side and put a spanner on that one, give the spanner on the one you want to undo a hard rap and it will come undone. Jeff TT

The dipstick can be fitted after but a bit of a pain, also one of the bell housing bolts go through the bracket on the dipstick and the main starter cable goes between the dipstick bracket good luck with that. Jeff TT

Yes engine is mappable, 4.4 V8 6 speed manual with 300 horses as standard and 435ftlb at 1500 rpm, can pull away in third gear with not to much trouble, pulls so hard at low revs and goes all the way round to 7k rpm, its a joy to drive. Jeff TT

Alternator issue??
Ok sav you have a few things going on there, the smoke off the turbo will almost certainly be a leak from say the rocker covers above dripping on to the turbo, very common and is worse when after giving it some beans. For now just unplug those pesky O2 sensors it will be better having them disconnected on a set figure rather than connected giving bad signals. The base idle, throttle balance, air leaks, afm timing can all have effect on the issue you having, if you could nurse it up to us it would be so much easier to get it in the ConZult and sort it in one hit. Yes the cas unit position shown is how it came in, assuming this had been set at a strobe light tested 15 deg btdc then it is not in the middle of the adjustment slots, and appears to be in a + position ie advanced, one warning though sometimes cas units can be less acurate than we would like and on occasions even with a belt installed correctly the center position is not always possible, however this is more likely with a non genuine belt, or of course an incorrectly fitted belt.
