BMW X5 Sunroof issue
I can confirm its a big job as the whole interior needs removing, but with a nice dry day and and a few lemonade breaks it is quite straight forward, have some pics on my home pc will add them here later. However before you get too previous have you checked out the sunroof power supply? and if you want to close it it can be done manually, the tool for this should be in your toll kit in the boot/ tailgate. Interior light problem
Yes the low internal resistance of the interior light led was the problem by changing it for a normal bulb or a load resister the issue was sorted I showed Chris this when it was with us a month ago just needed the bulb changing but would you know we did not have any!! Jeff TT

Engine rebuild vs constant repairs
Just clear up what been said here it was the cam covers we did, and an MOT and work to pass the MOT! all was leak free, but from the pics the front cam end seals have later started to leak covering the alternator and the area behind there, unless an engine is removed and every seal replaced its always a compromise on a 20 + year old engine, the engine was checked when it was with us and was in basic good order. front calipers
Bleed nipple needs to be at the top when fitted, if you fit them the wrong way around the bleed will be at the bottom, and yes have seen them fitted that way?? Jeff TT

Knock sensor problem
Either a bad connection where you have put the resistor in, or a bad cable somewhere on the loom, if it is the cable you can fit the resistor at the ecu end to try it. Jeff TT

ebay spam emails
Yes got a couple of call yeterday, done a quick check earlier and there is some malware from a third party been attached to the tech help page! at first could not understand how on earth they done it without my very complex password, however dawned on me I had a little flash at the top banner ( didgital clcock left over from a previous page build) and found the flash content has some security issues thats let them in, flash has been secured now and site cleaned today, requesting a retest by Google to clear the warning once I get my head around their web tools page, hackers are bleeding scum bags and thieves hiding behind a pc screen! Thanks guys Jef

ebay spam emails
Like everyone we get our share of fake or spam emails and although very alert to this kind of thing the levels these low life go to is incredible, if they where to put so much effort into an honest job they would not need to do this. Was easy for us to spot as they used my email name not my ebay name.. The one below could easily catch out someone not switched on to this kind of thing, have reported it to ebay as I always do and a quick source check shows a hijacked ip for the "nationwidemedical.com" in Orlando having said that most likely bounced from some where else....Russia, latvia, China etc. bloody menaces!! Be careful and tell partners and the kids too as they might not be on guard like we all are. Jimmer thinks the miles may be too low. Would think thats unlikely, here are the guys who did the engineering work: http://www.coventryboring.co.uk/#/at-the-heart/4537729699 Jeff TT

Cambelt alignment query
Yes your over thinking it, as above the crank sprocket dot and notch in oil pump line up and that`s thE crank done, how ever many times you turn it the crank is always correct when the timing mark is aligned. The cams of course run at half speed and these need to be lines up to and then the belt markings does the rest for you, the correlation between the crank and cams is where the matter of what stroke the engine is at is important. I thought all Main Beam headlights are H1?
The confusion is the H1 bulb fits into an adapter that has an extra leg so it looks like a H4. Once removed from the headlight you can see how the bulb and adapter come apart. Jeff TT

Why would you do this?
Yes working through a deluge of mails each day as well as the workshop so apologies, will ensure you get your detailed reply by tomorrow night. Jeff

Why would you do this?
Don`t get some peoples idea of removing and supplying an engine, currently fitting an engine for a customer who bought it not seen. The customer removed the plenum for powder coating and dropped the rest with us for build up cam belt service etc etc and fit into his zed. But why remove the engine by cutting the wiring loom to the alternator, cut the oil cooler rubber pipes, hack the ac pipes, cut the cable to the oil pressure sender etc. So making the job harder by cutting stuff is just bonkers, next to no time saving when removing from the donor zed, just unprofessional and lazy in my view!
