Whipped an M3! lol
Guess you mean the E36.....Not bad for a BM  yes, they are fast but not sure about "bullet proof engines" A mate of mine in the motor trade warned me against them a couple of years ago as some engines break very early...... The new M3 is almost a supercar, though..... Richard :)

cats 1 or 2?
The only detrimental effect decatting will have is that without back pressure, aging or slightly worn turbos begin to make themselves known..... The reduction in back pressure causes oil to get past the turbo rear seals giving a James Bond type smoke-screen behind you as you boot it ;) Don't know if it actually causes the rear turbo seals to fail prematurely though. Richard :)

Shall I propose
Too true....... I intended to propose to my wife in Paris and bought the ring about a week before. I kept it in my jacket pocket all weekend, ready to propose at dinner one year to the day after we met. That morning we were walking along the Champs Elyses, browsing in a few shops. As we looked in a jewellers, Julia saw a particular white gold solitaire diamond and said ".....if we ever get engaged, that's the sort of ring I would like......" You know, it was identical to the one in my pocket that I bought in London earlier  Richard :)

Shall I propose
Proposal is a word, whilst marriage is a sentence.......a life sentence in fact and if you want parole it ain't cheap! Seriously, you would kinda just "know" if she is the one - especially after 8 years. If you love her and have enjoyed the last 8 years and could happily continue for the next 80 then go for it. I proposed to my wife in Paris after a year together and we hadn't even lived together at that point. We've been a couple for 8 years and married for 4 and I don't regret a second of it  Richard :)

What could it be???????????
Hi Ant I have a similar situation with my Zed, but I have lost no coolant whatsoever over the last 6 months / 4000 miles.... ....I traced it to condensation dripping from an air-con hose (covered in a tin-foil like substance) that runs into the bulkhead just below the battery. On hot days it is more frequent.... The condensation drips into either the exhaust manifold or l/h turbo, causing the hissing - not seen any steam, though..... Richard :)

tyre pressure query
Hi mate I'm running the same sizes as you and find that near-ish to stock works well for me :) I tried a few different levels and found 32 front and 35 (psi of course  ) rear to be just fine. Richard

Job interview: advice would be great
Oh, so that's where I've been going wrong all these years  Seriously ( ), though I've only flicked through "Car" mag in Smiths if I'm bored so don't know too much about it. But a car-testing position on most car mags has to be a cool job and you can work your way up to "Evo" later.... Good luck, mate Richard :)

gas guzzlers.....moi?
I read an article in the Daily Mail (so it must be true ;) ) today comparing a family of four driving from London to Edinburgh in a diesel Passat or catching the train. Turns out the car is less polluting and more efficient per seat than the train  Some anorack from a railway magazine apparently worked it out...... Now that's good enough for me, I'm off out to burn £60 worth of Optimax........... :nono: Richard

K + N or APEXI? Help
Most aftermarket filters will give similar power gains as each other. As mentioned earlier it's the ability to filter out crap from inducted air that differs between brands. From tests in Japanese car mags (I downloaded one from the Mk3 Soop 'site when I owned one) HKS, Trust and most other foam filters were fekking rubbish and let all kinds of crap into the engine. Blitz were OK, K&N were very good but Apexi came out excellent. For the money the Apexi is the way to go - cheaper than a K&N IIRC and better filteration quality  Richard :)

Just subscribed

Why do Skylines out perfom the Z32?
I had 2 Mkiii Soop 3.0i Turbos before the ZX and they were pretty good cars, although my ZX is a lot faster (the only mods I had then - and have on the ZX are replacement air filters - so nothing major ;) ) I considered an MR2 tubby (tested a few) and indeed the 0-60 is on par with the ZX but the ZX has it whipped onto 100 - so much more torque which made the ZX better for overtaking - more comfortable too :) I did like the handling of the Mr2 - better than the ZX round the twisties  The UK spec Soop TT is way faster that a ZX in stock guise, after all they run 12sec 0-100 times, (slightly lighter car with 326bhp / 330lb/ft torque) but try finding a decent one now  I gave up and bought my ZX as it wasn't worth paying over £10K for an imported (280bhp) Soop that is barely faster than a £5k Zed.... I've been thinking about replacing my ZX lately and a Skyline is the logical sucessor, but I'm not mad on the looks - Mk4 Soop is fekking ugly too. I'll probably stick with the ZX a little longer - only had it a year and still love driving it.... Richard :)
