  1. Very fine indeed  Look like they were made for a red ZX mate Richard :)
  2. The biggest advantage of a limited company for a small business is the lower tax rates. As a sole trader you will pay tax at 40% of any profits above around £32k (excluding your personal allowances), regardless of whether you actually draw that out to live on. As a limited company corporation tax is zero for the 1st £10K and 19% thereafter. So you work out how much salary you need to live and draw that. But to save tax, you take your income as follows: First you have a minimum salary of around £4800 per year - just below the personal tax and NI limits - so you pay no PAYE or nationl insurance. Then you take the rest as dividends. As long as you don't exceed gross income of around £36k you won't pay any more personal tax. The company will still pay 19% corporation tax though. If you do exceed gross income of £36k you would pay high rate tax on the dividends drawn at 22.5% of the grossed up amount (or 25% of the net dividends drawn) over the £36k threshold All income below £36k will not attract any more tax. Dividends are deemed net of a 10% tax credit when you receive them and high rate dividend tax is 32.5% of the gross amount (so 32.5% - the 10% deemed paid if that makes sense). I'm a bit vague on exact allowances and threshold rates now as I gave up being a tax manager in an accountancy firm last year but the principles are the same! Hope this helps, Richard :)
  3. Looks like it's still cheaper up north then. Down here in Bucks the average for u/l is around 96.9p but on hols in North Yorks last week I was paying 90.9 for Shell u/l. B@stards...... Richard
  4. Welcome to the forum mate :) Your question re the cruise control - I remember reading that it won't work above 90mph. So if yours won't work above 55mph I guess that's to do with the km/h to mph conversion as 90km/h = 55mph. Richard
  5. Don't know about the gearbox but the engine of a TT takes 3.75 - 4 litres with the filter. Richard :)
  6. Complete w@nker if you ask me. Ebay is full if shite now anyway just because people want something for nothing - Your car is worth every penny of what you're asking it's just that most ebayers are tight fisted gits who think that everything advertised should be at car boot sale prices. Tell him to f*ck off and buy one of those £2000 ZXs..... ......then laugh when he spends another £5000 fixing it :x: Richard :D

I still like the OEM look, but I have to agree with Greg that the 99-spec is the best looking option of them all  Richard :D PS Jaffa cakes are nicest!!!! :D
  8. Boxster is a pretty good car but the Boxster S is a truly fine car. In a straight line neither would beat a stock Z32TT but both would take an N/A. Performance for the S is however fairly close to a Z32TT so it could come down to driver ability, or if your ZX is worn out you may lose...... However in the twisties the S would have the ZX unless you have some nice suspension upgrade.... Richard :smw:
  9. Check out Zen Garage - AKA Topless in traders section. They have an exceptional price for this job as everyone else will charge a fortune! Richard :smw:
  10. No option for "Can't actually remember" :nelson: No I really can't........ :x: Guess I'll have to vote "other method" :D Richard
  11. Sounds reasonable to me as well. Personally I'd just chalk the whole thing up to experience.......and take more care next time :mac1: Richard :smw:
  12. I bought mine for around a tenner from a member here who unfortunately wrote off his Zed. His real name is Ben, but I cannot remember his forum ID  Richard :smw:
  13. Exactly!! Ideally go for a 15 minute drive to get the 'box warm, park on level ground and leave the engine running then move the gear selector from P down to 1 and back to P slowly, then check the level. Also check the condition and smell - it should be nice and pink and have no traces of burning smells, blackness or other nasties. Richard :smw:
  14. Same here - book stamped to the end of it backed up with receipts, then all subsequent receipts (the old owner didn't buy another service book) and all MOTs All in english too...........then I have a UK spec ZX :mac1: Richard :D
  15. Has to be changing the dipped beam bulb the first time. Japanese people obviously have tiny hands otherwise Nissan would never have made the access sooooo limited :wack: Richard :D
  16. LOL - and Audis too :headvswal Driving back from Yorkshire yesterday down the M1 I was driving a steady 95-100 when the road was clear, with no-one in front or behind. Yet when traffic bunched up and I slowed to 80, keeping a safe distance from the car in front this tosser in an A4 estate sat soooo close to my rear bumper as if I was holding him up. Then as the traffic cleared and I sped up to 95-ish again he was nowhere to be seen. Happened about 4 times - you'd think that having seen me speed off as the road cleared would make it obvious that I wasn't holding up the traffic and didn't want to hang around either  Seems all German car drivers are arrogant morons..... Richard :D
  17. Don't think there's a law on the angle of front plate having to be perfectly vertical. There are a few cars where the plate is angled down straight from the factory. Porsche 928 is one I can think of - mounted under the shark-nose it faces 45 degrees to the ground. Richard :smw:
  18. Can't live with them.......can't kill them  Oh and men only die first because they want to!! Anyway, mate. Sorry to hear that but don't let it get you down - you've still got your ZX  All the best Richard
  19. Yeah, saw this on the M1 today as well....... .....fekking waste of our tax money if you ask me - all well and good under normal circumstances but when there was an accident and long tail-backs a couple of junctions ahead I really think they should have been put to better use and warned motorists of the impending hold-up  Dept of Transport are a total waste of space IMO :xxx: Richard
  20. Hi Craig As already said, if you have not done so get the 60k service done. Fuel smell, assuming it's just started when the weather got cold in the mornings this week, is just the hoses wearing a bit loose. Before you start renewing them simply tighten the hose clips - there are loads of them - as 9/10 times this cures it. Respray? If your car is fine then don't bother - besides £1k will probably not be enough for a really top job. If you like your wheels then have them refurbished and fit decent tyres like Goodyears, Toyos Michelin Pilot Sport etc. This really transforms the handling and grip - cheap or crap tyres really show up on these cars. Otherwise you can get a nice Blue Flame cat-back s/steel exhaust for £350 direct from the company on their E-bay site. Fitting only £50-ish at your local garage I reckon and an Apexi filter is around £100 from Danny in traders section. If it's running fine then enjoy it - keep the grand in case something breaks..... Richard  PS subscribing costs £20 and is well worth the money :p

Not Me Sarge  I wasn't on the M1 in your neck of the woods until 11-12 ish today :p Richard
  22. Another thing that's wrong with this country :wack: So as well as a lack of discipline in schools there is now a lack of educating children too :( Totally absurd when intelligence, hard work, manners etc etc are mocked and dimwitted thuggery and moronic behaviour is considered worthy and acceptable. So obvoius that those who now make the rules are children of "far-out" parents who grew up in the 1960s...... ....and drugs are harmless :headvswal Richard :D
  23. Glad to see you're home mate! Hope it all heals up nice and quickly. All the best, Richard :smw:
  24. Yeah, don't do it. Their fur clogs the injectors :D Richard :smw:
  25. Hey Sheppard, I don't live too far from you and for MOTs and diagnostic work I actually use Dan Perkins Nissan in Slough. Most main dealers are crap judging by the comments here, but DP are very good - they have a 300zx specialist working there. A few local members go there - Gio also speaks very highly of them. Richard :smw:
