I saw BP unleaded at 116.9 per litre this afternoon; it was just over 1.20 in the same garage on Tuesday. It's not much, but a step in the right direction.......:( Richard
  2. Another 928 fan:bow: I always loved the 928, and looked at a few 5/6 years ago.............but I bought a ZX instead;) I'd still buy one now if I sold my ZX..........however of the 3 choices presented, I'd have to pick the 850. I respect the Skyline for what it can do but in all honesty, I'd never have one as it just doesn't "do it" for me. As for the Evo, again a geat track car but like a Scooby, they're as common as pigeon poo and just don't have that "special" factor. They are just plain saloon cars, albeit with mad engines and handling. Not for me, I'm afraid:slap: The 850 is a classy GT car with comfort and refinement as well as pace and road presence. Richard:cool:
  3. From my days in an accountancy practice, I remember that if you receive an interest free loan over £5k from your employer, then the "saved interest" is classed as a taxable benefit in kind. Have you looked into what, if any, tax liability you will incur, mate? Also with many low emissions diesel cars now - eg VW/Audi, the tax on a £19k motor like a VW Passat is not actually too bad. It's tax on the fuel benefit that costs! Richard:)
  4. Depreciation is terrible though - £19k for a 1 year old car, then it's worth £10k another 12-18 months later, if you are lucky:tongue: Richard:)
  5. I think you took the words right out of my mouth mate...... ......superb looking Z:bow: Richard:cool:
  6. Or not - as once you go modding it for more performance, that £5k insurance will seem cheep compared to what they will charge with the mods declared!!!;) Fair play though, Vern! if you are willing to pay up to drive a Z at 17 then you are surely dedicated! Welcome to the club mate. Richard:cool:
  7. Good luck mate..... .....where are you off to BTW?? Richard;)
  8. I have to agree with Si...... ......yet again;) I hardly use mine either - maybe once a week if I can be asked to move the cars around on the drive in order to get the Z out of the garage:rolleyes: But for the £3k max I'd get for it, I'd rather keep it. It means more to me that the money TBH ;) However I would only sell it in order to buy another Z........ ........which I would still probably not use any more than the one I have:nelson: Richard:cool:
  9. I have to agree....... .......2-tone like that = pants in any colour. Don't do it:nono: Richard;)
  10. That's right for the rears...... .......but on the front you will need either 225 or 235/40/18 to keep the rolling radius consistent. Richard:cool:
  11. Interesting & different........ Richard;)
  12. It's been in place for a few years now; I left accountancy 4 years ago and they were paying interest on overpayments a while before that! As for the rate - it's ususally around the same as you would get in a reasonable deposit account so you could reckon on at least 4-5% p/a Richard:D
  13. Yes they do Si.........;) If you pay your tax bill early, or overpay then they must now pay you interest. After all they are quick to charge it if you are late!! They are b@stards to deal with though. When I worked in the accountancy profession we had separate "agent's" phone numbers to use because the tax payers lines were always busy. A result of them closing local offices and consolidating them into larger regional centres miles away from where your firm is actually based. Unfortunately I don't have those phone numbers anymore - pity really... Richard:(
  14. Glad you had a good day mate! Julia and I had a look around one at The Brooklands Museum on my birthday this year. It was/is an awesome piece of kit; the video presentation almost moved me to shed a tear.............to think such a technological masterpiece will not fly again:( Bloody Americans - if they had invented it, you can bet they would not have had a hand in taking it out of service;) Richard
  15. My ZX costs under £300 to insure FC as a second car on a classic policy (Lynbrooks); agreed value and 4k miles p/a. I have of declared the mods but they are only minor - wheels/exhaust/filter and 99-spec front. My daily drive - a 2006 Merc SLK350 tiptronic - is currently only £300 p/a FC; max NCB and unlimited miles. Not bad for a group 18, high-ish value car!! The SLK is on "Multi-car" policy with Admiral - I have also insured the Rav (a 2002 2.0 NRG) but with Julia as the main driver. She also has max NCB and that costs about £275 IIRC. I'm 38 and Julia is 33, we have clean licences and live in a fairly low crime rated area. The Z is garaged and the SLK/Rav are on the drive. Richard:)
  16. The Son of God speaks:bow: Richard;)
  17. What colour is (was) your leather ??:o I'd try any car leather cleaning product first - something like Autoglym or Meguires. Either of which can be purchased from Halfords. If that doesn't work than buy a specialist leather cleaner like Gliptone (do a google search.....) Good luck mate, Richard:smw:
  18. I thank you mate...... .......now can I count on your vote when I stand for PM???:D;)
  19. Wise words, Si.......(as usual)
  20. Interesting theory Vini...... ......but I simply think that the Labour party, new or old, is crap! They have always sought to control the people, through any means possible, with the "Nanny State." Labour has always hated the very notion of freedom and self sufficiency for Britain's citizens; hence their tax and reckless spending policies. If they tax us to the hilt, we have no money left so we are dependent on them. They squander the (high) tax revenue squeezed from us on placing managers into hospitals instead of doctors & nurses; wasting money that could be better used to pay for improved treatments/medicines. They abhor private medicine; even though those of us who can, and do, have private healthcare are actually helping the NHS by not being a burden to it! They despise the private education system; along with grammar schools and other superior education systems, condemning them as "elitist." The they dumb-down education for the masses and let regular state schools fall into decay; simply so that children do not learn - thick children grow up into thick adults. Thick adults cannot think for themselves; therefore cannot challenge the establishment and simply mark their "X" in the ballot box next to Labour. They make car ownership vastly expensive, driving many people out of their cars and onto outdated, unreliable public transport all in the name of "saving the environment." Our freedom to travel where and when we please is eroded, as we have to rely on the state to ferry us around. Then, and this is the worst bit of all, they all personally disregard this "socialist utopia" of their so-called principals and indulge themselves in the very "elitist" lifestyles they supposedly hate. It's simply a case of "do as we say, not as we do." Wait a minute - that does sound like a conspiracy. I'm with you Vini, mate:bow: At least with the Tories, we know about their wealth and privileged back grounds. They are not hypercritical about their "elitist" lifestyle and because it is actually a decent quality of life, they are quite happy for the rest of us to work hard, earn our money, pay less tax and enjoy the spoils for ourselves too.:duffer: Richard;)
  21. Positive mate....... I used Peranaman's link to the Parkers website (below). As you can see, all Merc SLK350s registered pre 23/3/06 switch to band K next April, then in April 2010 all year's cars are in the same band regardless of age with the tax going uo to £400. That's why it's wrong - this car hating tax everything government has effectively backdated the increases:mad: http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/road-tax/?deriv=27943 Richard:smash:
  22. So you hate diesels then mate;) I must admit I'm not keen on them either........ Richard:D
  23. So true..... .......what pisses me off is the back-dating for cars registered between 2001 and 2006. My SLK350 is a January 2006, currently in band F as it is registered pre 23 March 2006; with the road tax at £210 p/a. That was deliberate when I bought it BTW;) But when the new rules come in, instead of applying it to new cars, they are removing the "March '06" date and going back to those registered after March 2001. So next year my daily driver will be in band K and the tax will increase to £300; then in 2010 it will be in band L and I'll have to shell out £400. Not only that, but it's value will probably plummet as so one will buy a second hand one because they won't want to pay the tax. Environmental concerns my arse - it's just a blatant tax on wealth:mac1: Richard:mad::mad:
  24. I have to agree - the profile is definately not its good side and its arse is a big as Pauline Quirke:slap: Richard:tongue:
