  1. I agree too..... .....failing that, I'd agree fit the Uk spec screen. And then charge the insurers to replace all the other glass in the car so that it matches!! Richard:death:
  2. :hurl::oops: LOL - small animals could get stuck in that...... ....and I have just read that doctors in Ireland have found a woman with two tw@ts. It's Jedward's mother......:innocent: Richard:arabia:
  3. Either way mate, it's another way to get more money out of the motorist.....:crying: When a car reaches 25 years old it is usually just the well loved club members' fine examples that remain in good condition; whilst all the rest are just putting off that final journey to the scrappy. It would have been nice to have achieved that classic "free road tax" status eventually. On a similar subject I checked out my old Rover 100 (NOT the Metro but the "Auntie") on askmid.com and was pleased to see the old girl still up and running. She was a 1961 model so reaches the grand old age of 50 this year:sorcerer: Richard:cool3:
  4. Yup - he's changed it now mate! Richard:shuriken:
  5. Owwww! I hope no-one was in he passenger seat at the time! Richard:no:
  6. Many happy returns mate - have a great day!! Richard:cool3:
  7. Welcome to the club Chris! That looks a nice tide example mate!! Richard:cool3:
  8. Sure was.....LOL ......and even Jesus Himself put in an appearance at about 1.56........:whistling: Richard:cool3:
  9. I seem to remember the scheme started as a rolling 25 years old; and then that nice Mr Brown in his days as Chancellor put a stop to it "rolling on" around 1997-8 making cars tax exempt only up to pre 1/1/1973 registrations. At the time I had a 1974 Jag and was looking forward to it achieving free road tax status.....:surrender: Richard:flowers:
  10. Looks like it's coming on nicely Ian!! And you're right about those damn speed humps near your house - bloody nightmare I reckon. They should be banned......:asshole: Richard:thumbup1:
  11. Yup - I believe it's been done! I wouldn't bother upgrading the rears though as it's unlikely you'll see any real difference for your efforts. Most of the braking force is applied by the fronts. Richard:yes:
  12. I know what you mean Ian.....!! But on the positive side the tweeting does mean that spring is almost here and the short days where we go to work and come home in the dark will soon be over!!! Also I can stand the tweeting - but there's an owl that prowls the vicinity of my house and if I wake up in the early hours, I can't get back to sleep because of its incessant hooting!! Richard:scared::2guns:
  13. Hi Rob, why not try putting the ZX on a classic policy now you have a daily driver and move your current policy and NCB on to the Escort. It might cost you a lot less that way..... ......assunimg yo can get classic insurance at your age mate! Richard:thumbup1:
  14. LOL - no votes for the ZX to go then.......:tt2: If it were me then the Honda would be gone - and not just because it's pink:innocent: The Lexus is the most practial of the two as an everyday car; you have the ZX a a fun/sports car so why bother with the Honda as well? Richard:chef:
  15. 255/40/17 is quite a common tyre size so I'm surprised you were told they didn't make them!! Falken list 452s in that fitment according to Demon Tweeks' catalogue; and as Falkens are a Japanese tyre (and 255/40/17 was the stock rear size for a Supra TT) I'm sure you'll find them.....:detective: Richard:sorcerer:
  16. Many happy returns buddy! Richard:happybday:
  17. Happy birthday mate! Richard:happybday:
  18. I agree also! Overhaul the calipers as they will stick over time; when they sieze it gives a firm pedal feel but it is deceptive, as the brakes are not actually working very well. Then add new fluid and some new pads; that will make one hell of a difference before you have even got to upgraded discs. For a budget disc and pad package, speak to JeffT. He does a great set up with grooved discs and Mintex pads fully fitted for less than £300 all in - I can't remember the exact price and VAT has gone up since he did mine..... Richard:thumbup1:
  19. I remember something like that as well...... .....but I don't give a hoot and ignore them! Because Julia won't let me have a gun; otherwise I'd definitely shoot them.......:whistling: Richard:cool3:
  20. That's a very good 0-100; beats many a super car! Looks like you've squeezed a fair bit extra bhp from your Scoob:surrender: Although based on that, I'd probably have expected a better 1/4 mile time......:flowers: Richard:thumbup1:
  21. Snap..... .....take a look here mate! http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=147189 Richard:cool3:
  22. For a twin turbo 300zx a "30" rated oil is just too thin considering the temperatures encountered under the bonnet! Stick with a minimum "40" viscocity mate. Nissan recommends a 10w40 semi synthetic but personally I'd pick a fully synthetic just because technology has moved on since 1990! Any decent 5w40 synthetic oil will be fine - I currently use Shell Helix Ultra. The 5w30 oils are more for todays modern engines. Remember the "w" is just a reflection of the oil's ability to circulate from cold and not an indication of oil viscocity once fully warm - ie 0w40, 5w40 and 10w40 are exactly the same once up to full temp! 23. I agree with Chris, That was a mighty fine looking ZX pre-accident and it's a shame to lose such an example. It may well be repairable but for me, I'd not want it after a hard-ish front impact. With the prices of ZXs as they are, I'd say squeeze your insurance company for as much as possible and buy another. If you can purchase the salvage for pennies then do so; and take off your best bits for the new car and sell what's left. I'm very pleased you are OK too mate - that could have been a lot worse! Richard:chef:
  24. Thanks everyone!! Richard:thumbup1:
  25. Very true - but K&N is still a quality manufacturer; especially when compared to all the usual aftermarket kit for Fords, Saxos and the like. I recently bought the K&N replacement element for the Rav-4 and it's a well made piece of kit! We know the Apex-i is best for our cars but I bet the K&N is not far behind on performance and filtration ability. I remember a similar test on a Mk3 Supra back in the days I had one - and the K&N came out top! But for the money that Z32 kit comes in at, it's just not worth it:no: Richard:cool2:
