Damned jack.....
Julia took the Rav for an MOT today and unfortunately it failed on one tyre having a deep cut on the inside wall. Bloody bad luck as it would be a decent tyre, and not the one that will need replacing very soon...... ....anyway I thought I'd swap it for the spare, just for the MOT, and buy a new one over the weekend. However the damn OEM jack does not extend high enough to get the fooking wheel off the ground:huh: Luckily I found out now, rather than in the event she gets a puncture at some stage....... Richard:angry:

so who bought it
Looks a lovely example - and cheap to boot!! Richard:sorcerer: PS - let's have no "it's an auto" comments or I'll ban you.....:tt2:

Reverse Lights
I'd say they maybe a good upgrade mate..... .....the ZX reverse lights aren't that bright compared to those on new cars. The stock ones on my Merc seem to light the way as good as some cars headlights!! I reckon they won't be as bright as the Ebay ad suggests, but they'll probably do a damn good job. Hell, I might buy some myself just so I can park properly in my garage at night.... Richard:thumbup1:

300zxTT top speed run @ Brize (180mph!)
Owing to wind resistance I'd reckon you'd need a fair bit more than 450bhp to crack 200mph. And that's before getting into to other parameters like gearing and final drive etc.... Without checking the stats of other cars - are there many sub-500bhp supercars capable of a genuine 200+ mph? Richard:shaun:

180mph z is back yay!!

Newbie needing help! Fast idle problem!
Hi Aileen, welcome to the forum! If you are looking for new NIssan parts then look no further that Mike Feeney at MJP - see MrF in the traders sections..... .....and for decent second hand parts, contact JeffTT at Zedworld (again see traders section). Both are extremely helpful, great at what they do and know these cars indide out. Richard:biggrin:

Tyre Choice
Hi Mike - yes, they've dropped the old V-tread pattern now. You were lucky to get 8K on your old Goodyears..... ......as for 20k on the Falkens; that's excellent for a 300ZX tyre-eating-monster!! Result! Richard:cool2:

Z Stolen!
I'm pleased you got it back AJ.... ....but like Gary says - do make sure the garage keeps their word mate. And make sure you are happy with the work; just because they are not charging you, doesn't mean they can get away with doing a half arsed job! Richard:chef:

Tyre Choice
LOL - I know what you mean Mike! I found that with the old F1s (the ones with the direction "V" tread pattern). But the new asymetrics do seem to fare better..... ......they look a bit more like Conti-sports. I've covered about 7k miles on my current set and they are barely half worn - as compared to the paltry 6k miles I got from the rears when I had the old style Goodyears! Richard:innocent:

Zx speedo & mot
Better late than never (sorry Mike!) - but yes; that is indeed what the UK clocks look like with the dual markings.... Richard:biggrin:

Tyre Choice
Hi Chris, Falkens do seem highly recommended and seem to work well on Japanese cars. Also for the money they probably offer the best value/performance compromise. However for all round ability I'd say you would be hard pushed to beat Goodyear Eagle F1 asymetrics. I have them myself and I have never experienced any problems in the wet, no matter how hard I've pushed on. They didn't win an Auto Express tyre test for nothing!! That's my choice for the ZX; although they are not cheap! Richard:cool3:

relationship advice please
Amen to that Jane!! Some wise words there...... Richard:cool3:

relationship advice please
It's for the best mate. As for your question - only wave back if you feel you should out of politeness. You should hopefully be too pre-occupied to notice her passing by. But if you do spot her, then unless she waves at you, just let her pass. She needs to get the message you're not interested anymore! Be strong mate - and good luck. We're all behind you! For them old enough to remember
Cool - I remember the Chopper from the 1970s. What a blast from the past - and a decent price they're fetching nowadays!! Richard:cool3:

bad news
That is bad news mate; I'm sorry to hear that. But that is a good point - you have nothing to lose now:detective: If your mechanic is right on what needs doing, then I reckon I'd probably cut my losses and get rid too. You could replace it with a tidy rust-free example, transfer the good bits from your car to a new one and may still be no worse off financially. Good luck in whatever you decide, Richard:cool3:

How Rupert Murdoch runs Britain
Just like "Tomorrow Never Dies" eh.....?? But whatever the real story, I wouldn't exactly believe The Guardian's take on it either. If News International has done wrong, then they will ultimately pay the price in the end (we just may have to wait a while - LOL). But anything one may read in their ultimate rival's press must equally be viewed with suspicion IMO. I'm no Murdoch fan, don't get me wrong. But as much as News International attempts to run the world, The Guardian just tends to counter-argue with its pseudo-communist hyperbole. Richard:tongue_smilie:

relationship advice please
In a nutshell mate! Dewi, I must be blunt - I have read enough. You're still only 36 and this woman is preying on you. She will go through life making mistake after mistake; all the while hoping you'll be there to pick up the pieces for her while she attempts to make a life with yet another "someone else" Harsh as it sounds; get rid of the tattoo, forget meeting up on Wednesday, stop buying her presents and get yourself that 911. We've all been there in one extreme or another - and most of us have gotten over it by forgetting about the one that got away/wronged us/etc etc and moving on in life. I really hope it works out for you mate; you've the got support in us lot so (as the Nike advert says) just do it!! Richard:yes:

MOT time with top end rattle
Hi Lee, it sounds like it could be a sticky lifter mate. It won't affect the MOT though as it doesn't cover internal mechanical issues..... Richard:sweatdrop:
