  1. Good to hear Stu... ....I look forward to seeing the finished product mate!! Richard:cool2:
  2. Welcome back Jimmy - you've not missed anything mate! We've just been sitting here killing time until you came back..... Now re-subscribe you tight b@stard and maybe we'll let you in on what has really been happening.......:lol::flowers: Richard:blushing::cool2:
  3. Very nice mate - it looks a tidy example! Those BMW V8s are cracking engines, good luck with it!! Richard:sorcerer:
  4. LOL - not me! I've just popped on for the second time today to take a wee look..... .....I have been outside enjoying the sunshine! This morning I went to check out a ZX for sale locally to me on behalf of a new member from Newcastle, to save him from a long drive if the car was crap (it was actually OK!). I've mowed the lawns front and back, then I washed the SLK and Rav-4 (the ZX was washed last Saturday and is still lovely and clean). Now I have 45 minutes to kill before our taxi arrives to take us down to the village centre to a very nice Chinese restaurant. That way we can both enjoy a :pint::pint: or two without having to worry about who's driving home!! Richard:lol::cool2:
  5. A belated many happy returns mate! Richard:rockon:
  6. Just part of the ever ongoing improvement of the forum mate! Richard:yes::pint:
  7. Don't give up AJ..... ....this fella may not be insured and may well have bailiffs knocking at the door And may or may not be telling the truth. But if he does not have insurance (and assuming he is not a limited company) then he is personally liable mate! If you sue the fooker, then surely he has assets? A house or car; tools, personal possessions etc etc...... Don't let him off the hook! Like I said before, your insurers are a good place to start as they will seek to recover anything they have to pay you for the theft from anyone else who may possibly be held liable! And I know what you mean about East London buddy - I visited my folks on Mothers' Day and I reckon it seems worse every time I go to Leyton! Richard:mad2:
  8. Assuming it's a front tyre then I'd go 235/40/18 like you suggested. Richard:thumbup:
  9. It's just a blanking plate, painted in the body colour mate - UK cars don't have a brake light in the spoiler.....:whistling:
  10. Hey Mike - good to see you're still about on the forum. I hope you're well mate!! Richard:yes:
  11. Congratulations Dave!! Get some pics up mate - and best wishes to all 3 of you.... Richard:cool3: PS moved to correct section!:tt2:
  12. Yup - 60k or 5 years! And for such a job it's best to have someone do it who has worked on these cars before. It's easy to balls it up and get the cam timing wrong judging by some of the horror stories JeffTT has told us. Oh, and change the little rubber water hoses at the front of the engine, the thermostat and check the water pump. It's usual for that to fail at 60k as well; so often the whole lot is replaced whilst the front of the engine is off. Richard:chef:
  13. Many happy returns Paul - have a great day! Richard:happybday:
  14. It's no bother Mark - I actually drove past there last Saturday and saw it on the fella's drive! I'll give him a call tomorrow afternoon to check he still has it then I'll pop along Saturday morning. If it's any good then you can plan your trip; but if it's crap it will save you a long journey mate. As for insurance, there are plenty of companies now who don't charge such a premium for imports; I personally have a UK spec on a classic policy, but I'm sure you'll get plenty of recommendations on here. I can vouch for JaiKai's Zed though mate - I saw it at JAE last year. If you want to exchange numbers, please feel free to e-mail me on my forum addy - richardsmith@300zx.co.uk ATB Richard
  15. Welcome Rob - and good luck in your new role!! Richard:cool2:
  16. And Wheelman, I have removed your contact details - you have been warned about trying to sell whilst not being subbed. Don't push it....... Richard
  17. Hi Mark, welcome to the club mate! I actually live about 6 miles from this dealer and know exactly where he is! Sure I am aware of his reputation - but he has also had the odd nice one go through his hands I believe..... I can't make it tomorrow though as I have a couple of meetings during the day. But to save you the drive down, I could take a look on your behalf on Saturday..... Richard:cool3:
  18. Very sorry to hear that mate - and I'd also say that the garage must take responsibility. Sure, some garages sometimes have discalimer signs around saying things like "cars are left at owners' risk" but I'm not sure how that would actually stand up in court. As well as the CAB I would consult your own insurers; they will have direct experience in dealing with this kind of thing. Their own legal team may well pursue it as an "uninsured loss" for you. Good luck - I hope you get it sorted. Richard:mad2:
  19. Yup - I agree!
  20. Just to echo the sentiments of those posting above, most 300zxs with under 100k miles (especially imports) will by now have probably been clocked. There are a few genuine low mileage UK spec cars out there; but they should only be believed if they have been through few owners and have comprehensive full service history and all the old MOTs and bills to back it up. With no gaps...... But when a car gets to a certain age, mileage really becomes irrelevant and one should buy it based on its over all condition. Especially as a 150k mile car might well have had many major components replaced during the course of its life - whereas an 80k mile car most likely hasn't. Consequently the 150k miler could well prove more reliable as the 80k miler will soon start needing expensive parts replaced as they begin to fail..... Richard:cool2:
  21. Many happy returns mate! Richard:cool3:
  22. ....... and a happy birthday to little Keira Dee from me as well!! Richard:sorcerer:
  23. RichardS replied to a post in a topic in Club News and Announcements
Excellent news mate - good luck in your new job!! Richard:sorcerer:
  24. I rate mine pretty highly to be honest...... .....but one must remember that after 15-20 years and 000s of miles, the high performance nature and weight of a 300zx will have taken its toll on the standard suspension. Hence many will be running on knackered shocks/springs. Richard:cool2:
  25. Looks a tidy car Steve - good luck with your new purchase! And I have to agree - whilst I'm a leather fan, that looks way better than the tweed of the series one imports! Richard:biggrin:
