  1. Good to meet you as well - and I love that Z of yours!!! Richard:rockon:
  2. Likewise mate - it would have been good to meet you too. Just when you think you have met most people there, another member posts up that they were there too and you realize you missed him/her. So far, that's you, Murt and Dill The Dog..... Damn - definitely next time I hope!! Richard:flowers:
  3. His ZX was there......... .....but as Steve sadly could not make it, I'm not going to spoil the unveiling for him. Richard:cool3:
  4. Nice clip Rose.... .....there's me in the back-ground behind Alex at around 1.57 and my Z puts in an appearance at around 4.14..!!! Richard:cool2:
  5. Welcome Eggs - and good luck with your purchase mate! I saw this car in the flesh at a Zedworld meet a couple of years back and it looked a tidy example.... .....so you're working in Beaconsfield for a while? I'm only a few miles away in Great Missenden - in fact I do my food shopping in Sainsbury's Beaconsfield so if you're ever about, do to let me know if you want to meet up!! Richard:cool3:
  6. LOL - if I'd known it was you Darren, I'd have put that ticket back.....:devil2::innocent: Only joking mate - congrats on winning and great to see you again bud!! Richard:punk:
  7. Yes - a great day was had by all!! Richard:chef:
  8. .....Good to meet you and Rose too Alex; and I have to say your little boy is a great kid..!! Richard:cool2:
  9. On behalf of the club, I would like to thank Jeff, Lynda and Jamie for putting on a great bash today!! It was a really good gathering, Lynda (as ever) did a superb job with the catering and the whole day went really well. It was good to meet some old freinds and some new faces too - it's always good to meet everyone in person after many days/months/years of chatting online..... Top job Zedworld..!! Richard:thumbup:
  10. I'm not from the Midlands but I am leaving home around 9am.... .....so I should be there just after 10!! Richard:whistling:
  11. Take offense - from Stella "Clarkson" Z..?? Course not matey.......
  12. Following my seized caliper issue back in February, I had a replacement fitted (big thanks to JeffTT), but recently I had noticed signs of a warped disc.... .....so I bought a set of Brembo stock replacement discs/pads for £100 all in and dropped the car off at my local garage last week for them to be fitted. However it transpired that the other caliper had now seized too.... So, rather than fanny about with another 2nd hand replacement, I managed to source a fullly reconditioned pair from the re-manufacturer for £300 delivered. With the option to return my old ones for a £50 rebate (I sent them back today....:winkiss:)..... ....and now the whole lot has been fitted, with new Mintex rear pads too, so far I'm pretty happy!! Not least because I can drive it to Jeff's bash tomorrow. Whilst it is only a stock replacement, it certainly shows that the original set-up, when working properly as when the car was new, is perfectly adequate on a standard(ish) car!! Richard:chef:
  13. Glad you solved the radiator issue Ian.... ....but feel for you re the thermostat problem; I hope you can get it sorted matey. That rad cap is on its way to you as we speak by the way..... Talk soon buddy. Richard:balloon:
  14. LOL - you couldn't ask for more mate!! Good luck to all 3 of you.....:thumbup1:
  15. I thought that too......:confused1: But for sure you're taking your car to the right place for engine work...! Richard:cool3:
  16. Excellent news there Allan - and hopefully a chip off the old block, eh mate...!! Richard:cool3:
  17. Hmmmm food...... .... I made a tomato, basil and mascarpone sauce; added it to stir-fried chopped salmon fillets, shallots and pancetta and served it with tagliatelle. All washed down with a bottle of sauvignon. And a cheeky Peroni..... .....Sweeeet!!! Richard:winkiss:
  18. Wow - some poor NHS experiences there. I'm extremely sorry to hear that - luckily for me I have never been in their care since I had my tonsils out back in 1983. And that wasn't so bad.... .....But in 1997 Julia was rushed into Wexham Park hospital (near Slough) to have her appendix removed. Whilst she received pretty good treatment, I was appalled at the general conditions on the ward in which she was placed..... ....plus we're extrememly private people and I could not stand the indignity of being on a ward, in full view of the world and its gawping slack jawed buddies. So from that day onward I have ensured the pair of us have private health care; just in case!! Richard:scared:
  19. Yup - I agree with you there Allan! Richard:cool2:
  20. Happy birthday Jimmy.... Richard:rockon:
  21. That's very profound mate...... :sorcerer:
  22. Hell what a great debate this has turned out to be! Regarding Clarkson, let's be honest he wasn't seriously suggesting we shoot all the striking public sector workers. It has been taken out of context by an over-sensitive liberal elite media and a few dullards with no sense of humour. Let's not forget the "lorry drivers murder prostitutes" jibes a few years back etc etc. It was an(other) overly exaggerated statement for comic effect and to demonstrate (albeit to the extreme) his own personal thoughts on the subject. All it should take is an apology for any offence caused - calls for his sacking are just as stupid as the comment itself. As for my views on the strike..... I personally have no support for it whatsoever. Research from the Institute of Fiscal Studies has shown that for yet another year running, the average pay gap between private and public sector workers has widened again. In favour of (gasp) public sector workers. Back in the old days, civil servants accepted lower pay in return for job stability and a gold plated pension. Nowadays, civil servants generally have higher pay than private sector employees and still have their gilt edged pensions; albeit the job security is not necessarily as certain as it once was. The private sector has had to rein in its expenditure over recent years. And let's not forget how good old Gordon Brown screwed over those of us who bothered to pay into our own pension funds and destroyed the tax breaks that contributed to our own funds actually being able to give us an income in retirement. So now the current government has to balance the books following years of fiscal neglect by the last administration - who failed to put money aside during the good years and squandered it all on a bloated public service (among other things). All it asks is that the public sector cuts its cloth in accordance with the country's means. Remember it's the private sector that funds the public sector through taxes - and we all know that business is not making the money it once did; tax yields are lower as profits fall; so cut-backs are essential - and the country's debts need repaying. The public sector must adapt too and any reasonable person should see that. One cannot expect the already squeezed private sector worker to pay more taxes (and have less money to fund their own retirement) in order to finance the hefty pensions that civil servants are currently expecting to enjoy.... As for pay of certain public sector workers, yes many nurses are underpaid. But many doctors earn in excess of £100k p/a - sure they deserve it for all the study/responsibility etc they hold - but they aren't doing badly.... ....ditto teachers. I know of many teachers on over £40k p/a - enjoying 14 weeks holiday and a working day of 9-4. And before anyone mentions out of school hours working etc - my father is a retired teacher (a head of department in fact) so I know exactly how hard he worked..... And he now enjoys a pension of around £20-25k p/a. Looking at the people striking yesterday, it was admirable that those who were genuinely at the bottom of the pile still went to work - the nurses etc - whereas teachers and many other of the higher paid public sector workers went "all out!" In the case of the latter, I'm sorry to say, I believe it is just greed and "poor me, my gold plated pension might turn a bit silvery." That and the unions winding them up to take industrial action. Richard:turned:
  23. Nice one Steams - but you only had a month to go mate...... Hi mate, from 1 January the renewal cost is dropping to £10..... Richard:cool2:
  24. I'm sure someone can help you mate - but as a lot of us are taking our Zs, I imagine it will be pretty hard to get a gearbox in one...... Richard:oops:
  25. Many happy returns Jeff - have a great day matey!! Richard:angel:
