  1. Good luck with your new purchase Jane...!! Lexus always used to win the JD Power reliability surveys each year - so hopefully this one will serve you well. So it's a 3.0 as opposed to the Vauxhall 2.0; but what the hell - that's a lot of car for the money you paid!!! And as many have said above, it has the straight 6 engine from the n/a Supra Mk4:whistling: Richard:cool3:
  2. Exactly!! I'm only 41 - and I say only because I still feel about 14 in my head - but I do not think of myself as getting old!! Sure I may have lost a fair bit of hair and gained a little weight since my youth; but nonetheless I feel in good health, I'm never ill and whilst I might have the odd ache when I wake up, it soon subsides as the day progresses. And even though I have a pretty sedentary job, Julia and I still enjoy our weekend walks etc...... Furthermore despite Julia being 5 years younger and (visually at least) in better shape than me, she sure as hell cannot keep up with me when marching through the countryside!!! Richard:biggrin:
  3. Many happy returns mate - have a great day!! Richard:happybday:
  4. A belated "Welcome to the club Rob!" Richard:chef:
  5. Yup - I was about to post the same thing!! Use a decent mineral oil in the right grade and do a full flush and oil/filter change after 1000 miles to a quality synthetic... Richard:cool3:
  6. Happy birthday Steve - have a great day mate! Richard:happybday:
  7. Hi Graham, at least they're only minor issues - and your car will pass on Monday for sure mate! Richard:ohmy:
  8. Looking good on both counts there Allan!! Richard:thumbup:
  9. Many happy returns mate! Richard:thumbup:
  10. Happy birthday mate! Richard:cool2:
  11. Yup - McLaren F1 is trully an awesome machine!! I sat in one at the McLaren factory - I wasn't supposed to actually touch the car but got a bit carried away. Luckily security didn't throw me out, they just made me feel a bit naughty.... ...worth it though!! Richard:blushing:

Great find.... ...and what a fantastic car. Where can I possibly find such a superb piece of automotive engineering...!! Oh wait..... Richard:cool2:
  13. I have no idea either...... .....and I have moved it to NZR for obvious reasons.....
  14. Many happy returns mate! Richard:thumbup:
  15. Looking good..!! Richard:thumbup:
  16. LOL - don't bother with a second hand one mate as that won't last 5 minutes either!! Richard:clown::surrender:
  17. Interesting mate!! Incidentally - and off topic - Julia and I are heading heading down your way next Sunday! We like Bath and, aside from the odd day trips during the year, we always come down for the Christmas Market!! So if you see a blue ZX in the city on the 11th, it could well be me..... Richard:whistling::cool3:
  18. Hi mate, to get an accurate reading from the dipstick, you must do as people have said above - make sure the engine has been running until warm; but then left to stand for at least half an hour! It really does take ages for all the oil to return to the sump.... As for the pressure readings - I'm not so sure the guage is crap, but a more common problem is the stock sender unit itself failing. The symptom of this is a normal reading when cold; but as soon as the engine warms up, it drops to very low or nothing..... The stock sender unit is expensive - around £90-ish. But if working well, the guage reading when hot should be not too far short of the first marker line on the stock guage at idle. And when driving with the engine at 3000rpm, it should sit just short of half way - near the second line mark. I'm sure there is a link to the correct readings in the FAQ section somewhere .............. Richard:chef:
  19. Many hapy returns mate! Richard:rockon:
  20. Good luck Rose! Richard:cool3:
  21. ......."speeding at 150km/h".................? LOL - crap drivers obvoiusly; that's not even 100mph!! People do that along the M1 every day without crashing into each other....:winkiss:
  22. LOL - no mate.... ....you must have me confused with someone else, who might be extremely wealthy!!! The second pic is a few yards down my road - after I left the driveway. SLK and ZX were going nowhere for sure!! We were in York at the end of November last year and the snow came down heavily for us then. I took these one morning in the hotel gardens after breakfast...... ....fortunately it was dry and fairly sunny when we made the same trip last weekend!!! Richard:oops:
  23. Great news Dave!!! Richard:cool3:
  24. Nope - no snow down here in Bucks!! Although we do get our fair share in The Chilterns, it has been too warm so far. It was cold this morning and I had to de-ice the car before leaving, but it peaked at aroung 8 degrees during the day.... ......last year we had this just before Christmas..... Richard:oops:
  25. Thanks again to Jeff, Lynda, Jamie and Danni for a superb day!! A summer meet sounds great - I'm there already......:sorcerer: Richard:cool3:
