  1. Mid 1990s - you mean the one after the last pop-up lights version (L-reg onwards)? If so then I'd go for the 2.0gt. Back in 1995 I had a Carina E GT (my first Japanese car), it had the 173bhp engine and running gear from the Celica GT and it was a good car. Fast and reliable - and not too bad on fuel either; I think that was Toyota's first experiment with lean burn engine technology. IIRC the engine gave its best at the top of the rev range, so low down it was a lot mor economical, but with the power there if you needed it. You might find that you'll work the 1.8 harder, which would make its fuel economy suffer more. Richard:donatello:
  2. What's that mate? I don't condone speeding in towns and villages, but empty motorways and good national speed limit A/B roads.... I will usually drive at a speed I consider safe for the prevailing conditions, regardless of the posted limit - if you know what I mean... It's not as if Dorset or Somerset are great places to drive anyway. Sure the counties themselves are lovely; but everyone there seems incapable of exceeding 40mph on the open roads and there are so many pointless "20mph" zones, that it takes hours just to cover a few miles!! I took my ZX out this morning for the first time in 2 weeks, but only to Sainsburys. And then on to Halfords..... But I was enjoying myself so much that I did take a bit of a detour on the way home.... Richard:thumbup1:
  3. I can believe that mate - despite what the purists think, the black bumper MGB GT of the mid 1970s did not look that bad......:innocent: I meant I think that chrome should stay in that era, and not festoon modern cars! Richard:thumbup1:
  4. Sadly mate, if you want an easy route to 200mph, the fast German machines are probably the best way to go. Especially if it's your daily driver! Remember 5th Gear when they tried this with a V8 Lotus Esprit? The idea was to buy and modify a car to hit 200mph on a "reasonable" budget..... Even with Tiff driving it, and all the panel gaps gaffa taped to improve aerodynamics, he still couldn't do it. Theoretically a 300zx might see 200mph, but at what cost (financially and reliability-wise)? And yes, a Mk4 Supra or Skyline might be easier to tune for sufficient power - but to buy and mod the car will cost more than that £18k M5. If you have a daily driver and cost is not a major consideration, then go for it with your Z. It'll be an interesting project:yes: I do love that TVR Cerbera though - awsomely fast and nice looking machine:thumbup: Richard:thumbup1:
  5. Yup - I agree also...... ....same with the new Jags. Chrome just doesn't do it for me unless it's on an old classic like an E-type or DB5 Richard:yes:
  6. Many happy returns fellas.... Richard:happybday:
  7. Happy birthday buddy - have a great day! Richard:thumbup:
  8. Welcome to the club mate - and good luck with your impending purchase!! Richard:sorcerer:
  9. Welcome to the club mate! Richard:sorcerer:
  10. Very nice pics...... ......however NASA just had to take photos of the Earth whilst the USA was in the frame, didn't they.......:pinch: It would be nice if the Americans actually acknowledged there was a world outside of its own border, just once...... Richard:tt2:

  12. Very true mate - even more choice in fact!! I only referred to new just to highlight how bloody stupid it is to spend the thick end of £40k on a Golf.....
  13. Happy birthday mate! Richard:clap:
  14. LOL - quite a few..... ....or as Julia says, too many...... Richard:whistling:
  15. Exactly - way too expensive...... .....although according to VW's website the golf R comes in at around £32-33k new. Still too much for a Golf though; there's so much more you can buy new for that price. Richard:yes:
  16. Much better - nice job there mate!! Now just get some tyre-shine on your rubber and it'll look just perfect!! Richard:cool2:
  17. Good luck Barry - I wish you all the best for the future and in selling your car. Don't be a stranger when you leave mate; as always you'll still be welcome on the forums from wherever you are. I hope it all works out for you Barry. Richard:chef:
  18. Being a Z32 forum, we might be a trifle biased - but personally I do not like the GTR at all...... ...unless it's the R35 or at the very least an R34. The others are too plain and ordinary in appearance for my liking. Sure I respect the R32 and R33 GTR for the machines they are - but look at them......:sleep1: Might as well stick a Cossie engine in an old Cortina........ The Z32 has timeless looks and stands out as something interesting in today's world of boring cars. Hence the reason I have remained a 300zx owner since 2003 - sure I too have a modern, fast daily driver. But for exclusivity and the sheer hell of driving something different from the norm, and a bit special, I love the 300zx.....!!! Richard:rockon:
  19. My opinion - for what it's worth - is that in theory it could work. But in theory communism could also work (in practice though.......:boat:)...... .....I clicked on the link expecting to find this product on sale in the USA (hell, they will believe anything sometimes); and I see that it is. But it is also on sale in South Africa and Australia. Notably not in the UK though; and I wonder why.......:whistling: All just in my humble opinion of course...... Richard:wink:
  20. As said - frozen? In dorset? Sure it was 1.5 degrees in Buckinghamshire this morning but there was no overnight frost or ice etc..... ......and I imagine Dorset to be a few degrees warmer being further south.... ....like some others have suggested, are you sure it's not an a/c pipe giving rise to the issue? Richard:sweatdrop:
  21. Welcome Chris - and thanks for your support!! I wish you all the best as a trader on our forum; I'm sure your services will prove popular. Richard:thumbup:
  22. A belated happy birthday mate - hope you had a great day!! Richard:oops::thumbup:
  23. A belated happy birthday mate! Hope you had a great day.... Richard:oops::thumbup:
  24. Very sad to hear that mate..... ....but still a poignant reminder that these cars can bite your hand off if not respected in less than perfect conditions. RIP Mr Milnes. Richard:sad:
