Robin Gibb(BeeGee's)
I am sorry to hear that too. The BeeGees are one of the great "super-groups" who have had such a profound influence on the music scene. I count myself fortunate that I managed to see them in concert; Wembly Stadium September 1998 for the "One night only" tour, as I've always been a fan. And what a superb night it was......!! With the premature death of Andy Gibb, then Maurice passing away not so long ago, it is sad to see that Robin probably will not live much longer either. Richard:cry:

Jap Show @ Santa Pod
It is a shame the events clash - I was only talking to Voddy yesterday as he was thinking about the possibility of a club stand there this year. Richard

Evening all
Congratulations Jane, I was only thinking the other day that you hadn't been online for a while!! I am pleased to hear your absence was for such a good reason and I wish you both every happiness together!! Glad the Lexus is serving you well too - and you'll be back in a Z soon enough - but could you have borrowed a Z for your special day....!! I hope your day went well and thanks for sharing the pics too! ATB Richard:thumbup:

zed prices, ON THE RISE!?
I'm inclined to agree there too - although a few good Zeds are being broken right now (eg ZX-TT's car) just because they aren't selling. Hopefully the more rough examples that disappear in this way will mean fewer sheds on FleaBay to drag down the price of the remaining good ones; you only have to look at the prices of old 1970s and 1980s Fords now..... ......in the early 1990s they were worth pennies because there were so many rust buckets around. Now they've all rotted away leaving only the good ones (loved and maintained by enthusiasts), look at the prices for an early XR3i, XR4i, Capri etc. And the Mk1 and Mk2 RS cars command serious money now; whereas when I was about 20 you could pick one up for sweet wrappers!!! I'm under no illusion that my ZX is suddenly going to appreciate of course - and I didn't buy it for that - but values should stabilise; with good examples once again able to command a premium. In time. But as Dave says, in the current climate not many folks an afford another car for a weekend toy, least of all one with such a voracious appetite for petrol when it's nearly £1.50 a litre!! What would you do ?
To be honest for £32 I'd just cash it and be done with it mate....... ......it's too small an amount for them to be bothered about; and if they do realise later and ask for it back, £32 isn't going to be a problem to repay (even if you have spent it by then). You just apologise and say that your wife must have banked it for you without knowing you had already received the previous payment! Courier companies aren't the best people to deal with when it comes to getting compensation for failed or damaged deliveries - their Ts & Cs usually provide you with very little protection if they break something in transit - so make the most of this occasion! No-one will judge you for banking an extra £32. Unless someone who works for their accounts department drives a 300zx, is a member on here and notices this thread of course....... Richard:cool2:

after one year
Hi Ian, I know we have spoken since - but that really is great news matey. It's pretty clear to me just how much you love your kids and that they are miles better off with you; I am so pleased that common sense prevailed and the courts acknowledged that!! Like you say mate, it's pretty rare in this day and age for the father to be given full custody - but you deserve it my friend. Hopefully you and your family can now get on with your lives and put all the unpleasantness behind you. Best wishes to you all - and a belated happy birthday to little Kiera for the other day... My M.O.T Today, wish me luck
Great news mate - always good to see another ZX living (and living well) for at least another year!! I don't understand the so-called emissions bit now - at its MOT last month my ZX showed CO2 of 0.01%, HC of 2 PPM and lambda of 1.012...?? Richard:rockon:

what do you think guys In car stuff
I'm probably an old dinosaur but I also think it's a bit daft getting monitors fitted in the sun visors! Use the visors for what they were intended and, if you must have a monitor, install a proper in-dash article!! Just my opinion though.......:innocent: Richard:arabia:

A bit of a dilema about my TOAD
Mate - I would just look up any local car alarm specialist. Give one or two a call and see if they can do it for you.... Richard:thumbup:

oil & collent, service advice
For me it would be MJP in the traders section. Zcentre also sells them but they are possibly more expensive - Mike at MJP is always helpful and reliable and I'm always happy to recommend him! Richard:yes:

One for the Detailers!!
There are also a few bird lime/insect/tree sap removers on the market (Turtle Wax Platinum makes one) - you just spray it on the affected area, leave it for 10 minutes and hose down with a decent amount of pressure (assuming you don't have a hosepipe ban LOL). Otherwise I'd use neat car shampoo (Autoglym is very good, as is Meguairs); daub a fair amount on the crud and let it soak for a few minutes then wash off again with some fairly hot water. Once you have removed the worst of it (the hard residue) do as Pablito suggests and clay/polish the car (Tcut/Autoglym Paint renovator are good - or Autoglym Super Resin Polish if not too badly tarnished), then a good waxing to seal/protect the shine. Good luck mate..... Richard:flowers:

oil & collent, service advice
Steams has given some good advice there mate.... ......Oil quantity is about 3.75 litres (less than 4 anyway) with the filter change; and any decent fully synthetic 0w40, 5w40 or 10w40 is fine for a relatively stock ZX. (EDIT - As you have an NA then Steams' recommendation will be more than adequate). Not sure on coolant capacity though as my hand book is in the car - which is locked in my garage... Plugs are platinum tipped and need replacing at 60k mile intervals, so if they haven't been done best do it at the same time. Richard:chef:

Wrong brake fluid?
LOL - tell you what, Redwine mate, why don't you just rep us all up.......!!! Richard:clown:

Wrong brake fluid?
Only coz you got your reply typed quicker than me...... ......no-one had said anything when I started. Cursed PMs and other club issues needing my attention when I'm trying to be helpful and knowledgeable......

Wrong brake fluid?
I'm always right mate - and when I'm not, I'm just not as right as I usually am.....LOL Richard:lol::ban:

Red ZX in High Wycombe on Easter Monday.....
I spotted a shiney looking red ZX in the car park of the flats on Gomm Road (opposite Halfords and B&Q) off the A40 on Easter Monday - around 2pm - was it anyone here? Good to know of another local-ish Zedder if so...... Richard:rockon:

Wrong brake fluid?
Yay - I was right......:smartass:
-
Wrong brake fluid?
My knowledge is limited here..... .....but IIRC DOT 3, 4 and 5.1 are all similar in composition and can be mixed. Whereas DOT 5 is silicone based and completely incompatible with other types of brake fluid - in fact DOT 5 should never be used in a braking system where either of the other types has been previously used....... If I'm right, you can simply top up with DOT 4 - it is after all an "upgrade" of DOT 3 (which is the minimum requirement for a 300zx; being the best available at the time the car was new). Bent ! ..... and to say thanks to ( Sayers - Neil )
Sorry to hear that Mark..... .....and without sounding negative (I'm just playing devil's advocate), if you buy parts from somewhere and then get them fitted elsewhere (or DIY) then if those parts fail, the supplier is only obliged to replace faulty parts and is not responsible for any associated labour. As a businessman myself I excercise the same policy for lift components (if one of my own engineers does the work, it is a different matter of course....). You sound aware of the situation anyway mate; and I hope you get things sorted with little inconvenience to yourself - plus if you push the point the supplier might even offer some goodwill towards your consequential costs. Good luck Mark, Richard:flowers:

Not had the best bank holiday lol
Sorry to hear of your woes Del.... ....as everyone has said, luckily you're Ok and your kid was not in the car with you either. Whilst it looks a pretty pricey repair (gotta love insurance companies) the club spirit has been strong and I sincerely hope that you can save your ZX with the fantastic help offers from other members!! Good luck with whatever you decide mate; we're all behind you. Richard:sad:
