  1. Cheers Russ..... ...And the verdict? When the technician got in the car this morning, it started first time with no issues - and continued to run like there was nothing wrong....!!! it also showed no faults according to his diagnosis...... So, cutting out when warm and refusing to start; and then starting fine the next day? Sounds more like the PTU, doesn't it.... Richard:mellow:
  2. Sorry guys, thread closed pending committee discussions..... ....Traders have their trading arrangements set out and agreed with Graham - and we will look into any traders stepping outside their permitted remit. Richard
  3. Fine here as well........
  4. Great pics guys - thanks for starting this one Lexx...... Richard:thumbup:
  5. Yup - turbo charged engines do love the colder dense air..... Enjoy it matey!! Richard:cool:
  6. Cool - nice find Dave....
  7. Welcome to the club Luther - and as Andrew says, where in London are you? It might be that someone nearby could pop over with a Conzult and test it for you.... Otherwise we can suggest places within reasonable distance that you could take your car to. Good luck in getting it fixed, mate. Richard:)
  8. Sounds about right Phil - I seem to remember in the USA that Nissan recalled the cars and fitted the later PTU.....
  9. Sorry to hear of your woes too mate.... ....Best take care out there now that winter is upon us!! Richard:flowers:
  10. Agreed - the car is an insurance write-off for sure; but that could have been a lot worse for you though mate.....
  11. I quite like that as well...... It's a nice take on the 99-spec look but with a twist!!
  12. Cheers Andrew - looks like it's the old type then..... Although my car is a 1994 registration, I guess it could have sat around unregistered for a while!!
  13. Agreed.... Don't do it Mark - go for the white or keep it red mate!! Richard:cool:
  14. Cheers Yowser - I never knew that either!! I haven't fitted a S2 PTU; but it does have the one with the fins on the casing - whichever version that is..... Thanks Jeff - another informed diagnosis...... I'll probably be on the phone to you Monday afternoon:wink: Not yet Steve, the garage is closed for the weekend..... Maybe I should turn this into a competition; the winner gets a Haribo sweetie..... Richard:cool:
  15. No - you cannot crank the engine of an auto (any car) unless it is in neutral or park mate....
  16. Ahh the memories; that takes me back...... (a bloody long way)
  17. LOL - Me too matey..... ......albeit it was dinner for me, being a southerner....:winkiss::lol: Richard:whistling:
  18. Thanks for the kind thoughts folks........ That was my first thought Allan - it is a series 2 car, on which the issue is supposed to have been rectified though...... Funnily enough, it cut out twice last Friday also - once as I left my friend's house after a trip to the classic car show; and again when I had just reversed it into the garage. Hmmmm, thinking about the fuel pump now it has been mentioned...... And in reply to other comments... Roo - I know; I'm a hundred miles from Jeff and probably about 140 from Lee. I decided on the local option in the end, as I would have needed to get back home afterwards!! Gaz - yes mate, the fuel tank was just short of full:wink: Graham - you're probably right mate; but I have my fingers crossed!! And whilst the RAC was on the ball, it was a shame their sub-contractor (remaining nameless:mad:) was not!! Dave (CM) - good idea in principle; but I have an auto!! I let the car roll as close to the left as possible though; and parked with the front wheels facing left in case I was hit from the rear. Si - famous last words indeed; but then your Z is safely locked away in hibernation now mate:wink: I will keep you all informed!! Richard:detective:
  19. ....But for the first time today, my ZX decided to break down:shock: As it was a dry sunny day, I thought it would be nice to take it with me on a trip to my folks. I was driving along happily as usual; and as I reached the bottom of the entry slip onto the A41 dual carriageway, the engine cut out. I pulled over to the left and tried a couple of times to restart it - but no. It turned over well enough, but it just would not fire up:sad: I called the RAC; who were very helpful. Even before I had to say anything, the RAC lady said that their patrol would have absolutely no idea what to do with a 300zx and agreed the best course of action was to send a recovery truck ASAP. She even took the initiative to make sure it was one where the flat-bed could come all the way down onto the road, as she assumed the car was of the low variety!! The RAC also gave it priority, as I was positioned on a virtual blind bend of a slipway onto a 70mph dual carriageway. Sadly the contractor they used did not have the same sense of urgency; and I had to wait over 2.5 hours. Still he arrived eventually and now my car is at DS Automotive in Aylesbury - which was the nearest place I could think of with any experience of a ZX to be able to diagnose the fault - and so I await the results..... Richard:sad:
  20. That's a sound philosophy mate..... And one that I can wholeheartedly subscribe to....
  21. Happy birthday Rob - have a great day mate! Richard:happybday:
  22. No idea - maybe it's lighter; so a bit of weight saved on a race car....?
  23. On behalf of the committee, I would like to announce the appointment of Lexx (Alex) to the role of Inter-Club National Events Organiser. Alex has shown a great interest in getting more people, both from this club and other clubs, together at shows and events up and down the country; so the committee has given its backing to creating this new role - which will also provide valuable support to Vodkashots in organising the major events. Especially as 2014 is a big year for the Z32!!! So please join me in congratulating Lexx on his new role!! Nice work Alex, thanks for stepping up - I'm sure you'll do a great job!! Richard Smith Club secretary For The Committee
  24. Top work Dave - that's a great idea mate!! Richard:thumbup:
  25. We do listen to our members - and as Lee says, this idea is certainly a subject for committee discussion.... However please do not forget that we already have 2 ongoing club competitions open to all subbed members: There is COTM here..... http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?173804-COTM-November-2013-Poll and the F1 comp here...... http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?168440-2013-Formula-1-scorecard The COTM competition will result in a prize of £100 in Halfords vouchers for the ultimate winner in Car of The Year next month; whilst the F1 competition prizes at the end of the season are Halfords vouchers of £30 for the winner, £20 for 2nd and £10 for 3rd place runners up. Before we do decide to implement any other prize draw type giveaways, we would like to encourage more members to participate in the competitions that the club already runs.... Richard:cool:
