  1. I'm not 100% sure Derek - I'd have thought that, owing to the lower compression ratio of the TT against the NA; the heads would certainly be different somehow.... Richard
  2. I know Mandy - it happens a lot here and we have no street lighting in the village to compound the issue. But what is worse for me, is that if you did happen to accidentally knock one down, then the chances are (if there were no witnesses), that you (the evil polluting motorist) would be held liable for the matter....
  3. Yup - it's that moral superiority again..... ......When there are cycle lanes to be used, then they should be used; our hard earned taxes go towards implementing cycle lanes, so to see them being wasted is well.... a waste:mad:
  4. Me......? I'd buy the CLS because that's the kind of person I am, sometimes, when it comes to cars...... ......But for a sensible, reliable, efficient daily driver; then common sense dictates the DS3. And I see you made the right choice Adam.... Richard:cool:
  5. I have no problems with cyclists - or Audi drivers (in general:wink:) - as the majority are just normal folk going about their daily business..... .....And that is just it; it is their daily business. So what really gives the cyclist the right to lecture and reprimand a motorist (whatever car he drives) for a minor infringement of a traffic rule. And I say rule, because has an actual, punishable, offence occurred? The highway code is (apart from a very small part) not law; just a book of road etiquette for road users to follow - although it is taken into consideration when deciding who is at fault in a RTC etc... The problem with this cyclist, is that he appears to be one of those militant types; who treats all other road users with distain and contempt. Yet goes around with an inflated opinion of his own moral superiority. My reply to him would be "You're riding a bike, not saving the planet - so get over yourself. And mind your own business!!!" Richard:flowers:
  6. I would still ditch the Zafira..... ....But these comments are definitely true - which is why I concede that I'd not do the swap, only to try and sell the BMW a few months later. I'd look at selling the Zafira now and buying something else you prefer - and won't be looking to sell on in a month or two...
  7. Good luck with your new toy Adam - they do look nice little cars TBH; so I'm going to second all the positive comments above too..... Richard:thumbup:
  8. My opinion - ditch the Zafira mate..... Whatever I or anyone else may think about BMWs, I personally hate MPVs with a vengeance!!! So a 5-series of a Zafira? I think you know what I'm going to say. Especially if you do not NEED an MPV (and most people don't - as a decent estate car would serve better)..
  9. We could indeed - Darwin had his "survival of the fittest" theory; but in these days of (so-called) equality, it just does not do to think like that anymore...
  10. Yup - and a pressure test on the cooling system..... I have heard that ideally you should be able to remove the rad cap with the engine up to temp; but I personally have never done that on any car..... Does it over heat and is there evidence of oil in the coolant and vice versa...? What made you take it to your mechanic in the first place mate? If it's showing no other apparent faults, don't be so quick to condemn the engine.... Richard:clover:
  11. Looking good mate.....!! Richard:thumbup:
  12. Auntie for the Rover P4 - Porker for a Porsche.....
  13. Aaaargh - that too....... Actually I think all the issues we are referring to boil down to one simple thing. Observation and awareness!! So we might just as well say "Everyone who drives with their head stuffed up their bottom, so they simply cannot comprehend what else is going on around them!!!" Richard:flowers:
  14. Yes....And yes..... I am always tailgated by MPVs through towns and villages because I stick to 30mph.... But when I reach the open road and accelerate away, they are way behind me at the constant 42mph they always drive at; no matter what the conditions:no:
  15. As do the Germans on the Autobahn.... On those few stretches where there is no speed limit, the slower drivers are always mindful that there might be an AMG or M-powered beast tearing up at 300km/h behind them. Hence they observe and get out of the way accordingly.... ....Not here though; yes, we have a 70mph speed limit; but come on, if you are pootling along in lane 3 at 71mph in your Meriva with lane 2 (or even 1) empty for 1/2 a mile ahead and a sports car of any kind is approaching at 100mph, GET OUT OF THE WAY!! It's the police's job to enforce speed limits not you!!! That is the problem here - petty bloody mindedness or jealousy; yes, Mr Sports Car is breaking the law but it is none of Mr Meriva's business..... It's not just common courtesy, it is lane discipline.....!! Richard:whistling:
  16. Anyone see this yesterday..... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2546709/Moment-Audi-passenger-got-car-PUNCHED-cyclist-pushing-bike-taxi-shocking-act-road-rage.html TBH, I am leaning towards the side of the Audi driver on this occasion....!! Sure, he moved into the cycle box - and these infuriate me in London as it just serves to slow down the traffic. However some people should mind their own business - and as soon as the lights change, the Audi is gone; and has harmed no-one.... But oh no - Mr busybody cyclist has to chase the Audi and shout f***ing p***k at the driver; despite making the effort to shout at him the first time...:nono: I do not condone violence and, personally, I would have just ignored the cyclist - but these days some cyclists can be so damn self righteous and anti-car; so did he deserve it? And before anyone thinks I am just another arrogant motorist, I only said "some" cyclists - and I mean those (few) with double standards; who will run a red light and still expect 1.5 tonnes of metal to be able to stop on a sixpence when they weave in and out of the traffic on a bike, yet get the arse when a car driver senses the lights about to change, so he attempts an early manoeuvre around the bikes so as to get on his way!! Shocking act of road rage? Yes - but I think both parties are to blame and not just the chap in the Audi. This time:wink: Richard:wink:
  17. Firstly glad to hear you and your daughter are OK mate..... ....But going back to the question asked, I would not have thought that a rear end shunt would effect the engine; hence the above sounds a likely explanation. Although even if the rear was just lightly hit, you need to check the boot floor panel for damage - and follow all the way along to the front of the car for signs of panels coming into contact with the ones in front.... You just never know until you look carefully in the daylight, how your car has been damaged! Good luck mate; I hope you get everything sorted! Richard:clover:
  18. Many happy returns Daz - have a great day mate!! Richard:happybday:
  19. Heh heh - I remember that too mate!! How I loved waiting for a hair-cut at the barbers in the olden days; with nothing but the reading matter.... Then Lax Power and Last Car came along and spoiled everything.... Richard:wink:
  20. Hell Mike; if that's what they were like years ago - then they're probably even worse now...
  21. Great work Lee....
  22. You can really feel the power.....
  23. Nice one Vig - thanks for your continued support mate!! Richard:thumbup:
