  1. I'm off into deepest Essex in the morning to pick up my new toy..... It's a little over a year old, has plenty of kit like COMAND Online navigation, cameras which can read the road signs and display the speed limit on the dash, a Harman Kardon surround sound system with 11 speakers and 400 watts.... Oh and a nice 3.5 litre V6 with 306bhp along with the AMG Evolution Sport pack. Richard:hyper:
  2. Had to do a speed awareness course this morning... Actually I was very impressed - not at all patronising, very well put together and informative; top marks to the AA Drivetech team!! And, make of this what you will, there were more women than men in attendance; by amost 2 to 1 in fact... And tomorrow I'm off to collect my new car:hyper: Richard:cool:
  3. Yup - what he said......
  4. Happy birthday Andy!! Richard:happybday:
  5. Looking good Gray.... ....And for what it's worth, I'd have tried to park in that Audi's spot myself!! Richard:wink:

  8. Welcome to the club Sean!! I was going to say, that's just about any Japanese coupe pre-1995, but that might appear disrespectful mate:wink: Suffice to say, I'm not a fan of the RX8 as, like the 350z was to the 300zx, it appeared to be a step back from the car which came before it.... And whilst I don't want to put you off - as the 300zx is a great car - but if you're becoming concerned about the running costs of your "Rex" you might want to consider your car choice carefully!! The 300zx is reliable enough; like any other Japanese car. However the majority are now pushing 25 years old and, unless the one you chose has been looked after all its life (or had sufficient money spent on it by an enthusiastic owner) then you may find you are buying a similar issue to the one you have with your RX8. Which is a newer car!! I don't want to put you off - but many of us now have the 300zx as our second car - a weekend "modern classic" toy - rather than a daily driver. We're all here to help you Sean; but seeing as you're a student, I'd not want to actively entice you into the world of 300zx ownership if you are paying your way through college and watching your outgoings!! Best of luck in finding the right car my friend...!! Richard:cool:
  9. UPDATE!! We now have 70 listed attendees - with 50 of those having already confirmed their intent to come along by giving Lexx their registration numbers.... To that end we are now up to capacity for those who wish to be a part of the display on Millennium Place - however anyone else is still able to pop along, park in a public car park in the city centre and stroll up on foot. We are now compiling a reserve list - and priority will be given in the order of registered interest in the appropriate thread. So if anyone already on the list has to cancel for whatever reason, please do say so at the earliest convenience so that your place can be offered to those on the reserve list. And if you are one of the 70 already down, please pass your Z registration number to Lexx ASAP, if you haven't already! 11. Good to see you're home again Mandy - all the best for a speedy recovery in time for that!!! Richard:flowers:
  12. There is something familiar about him - but I can't quite identify him mate.... Do tell!! Richard:cool:
  13. Many happy returns Danno....:happybday: Richard:thumbup:
  14. That's a bit more like it.... To be honest, Nissan, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Mazda and Honda have all lost their way since the 300zx/Supra/3000GT/RX7 and NSX went out of production. Sure, we have seen 2 further Z-car incarnations; but the 350z was a disappointment and the 370z, whilst much better, has had its short-comings highlighted by the cheaper (and dare I say it, a class-below) Toyota GT86 thingy. Japan kept the coupe/sports GT market alive in the 1980s and 1990s but has now, in all honesty (Nissan GTR aside), been ripped apart by the Germans once more. And as for exciting hot hatches - hell even the French do better today. I will certainly be pleased to see that Nissan on sale - for today, all the Japanese manufacturers seem to churn out, are boring lethargic hatchbacks for the elderly and those awful electric/hybrids for the PC, self righteous anti-car brigade... Come on Nissan et al - give us some decent kit like the marques above so sadly lamented!! Richard:thumbup:
  15. Hope you're doing OK Mandy - do let us know how you are..... .....And get well soon!! Richard:flowers:
  16. Yup - be good to see it on your car Ted; keep us updated with pics mate!! I agree also!! Richard:thumbup:
  17. Many happy returns Dave - have a great day mate!! Richard:happybday:
  18. This was (as I understand it) all tickets to be purchased and paid for in advance - so, in theory, those who were down to attend should in theory be there; having paid for their tickets up front...... ......However I did just that a year or two ago; but sadly despite getting to the M4 J17 in good time, I got caught up in an almighty traffic jam some 5 miles shy of the venue. And after an hour of going nowhere, decided to call time - and angrily drove 90+ miles home again. Without being negative about what is undoubtedly a great event, that sadly put me off - both at the time and for the future. I mean, I was in the vicinity of Japfest circa 7 - 7.30am - yet I could not get near the place. I have not experienced that at other events in which I have chosen to participate, thus sadly my judgement has been clouded. Richard:sad:
  19. Many happy returns mate!! Richard:happybday:
  20. LOL - maybe I did also mate...... But yes; very important it was; hence the bottle of fizzy stuff we decided to pop open with dinner this evening... :pint: Richard:thumbup:
  21. If it's only small, pop a bin bag round it and knock the fooker into it..... .....The seal it up quick as you can.....!! Disclaimer - neither Richard Smith nor the 300zx.co.uk club assume responsibility for any injuries sustained in taking this action.....
  22. PMSL - but I agree entirely Si....!! During a World Cup some years ago, England were playing Argentina one Friday evening - so I decided to so my monthly Sainsbury's shop... And the store was deserted!! I went to the only open checkout; where 4 members of staff all packed my bags - just to get rid of me, so they could return to the staff room and continue watching the game:rofl:
  23. TBH, I get bored of checking mate - nothing ever needs attention....
  24. Yup - these engines are a lot tougher than some might think..... ......So just do a few easy tests to eliminate head gasket failure, top up with fresh coolant and check for leaks (hoses, water pump, rad cap); monitor it over a few miles and cross your fingers...!! Just because it has over heated, do not assume the engine is toast. Mine severely overheated in August 2012 when the brand new Nissan rad cap I fitted turned out to be faulty - I was stuck in a 2 hour traffic jam when it was 30 degrees outside; the blasted rad cap allowed all the coolant past, then into the expansion tank and finally out onto the road. I limped to a petrol station (boy did the engine sound rough as I slowly drove on), let it cool down, refilled with fresh water and anti-freeze, then drove 20 miles home. The next day, I topped up the radiator, fitted a replacement cap and nearly 2 years/10k miles on, all is well. No oil or coolant loss; no signs of oil and coolant mixing anywhere; it's fine! Good luck mate! Richard:clover:
  25. Sorry to hear that Mandy - but you have all the support (and hugs) from everyone here!! Get well soon....:flowers: Richard xx
