Transfer or Reg Number
In short; yes! The donor vehicle must have an MOT certificate - and usually a tax disc too. But if you have been the owner for some time and have only recently allowed the tax to expire, you can still apply to retain the reg number. MOT is still 100% required though.... And you are right in that everything goes to Swansea now that the local offices are closed - bit of a pain as the process takes longer; so much for the convenience of the digital age! Richard:cool:

Claiming windscreens through insurance
Dead right Lee - just like any other business! It's about time that the rest of the population bloody well got used to the fact that "businesses" are in business to make a profit; and not just to serve the public's own needs!! And that goes for insurance companies, banks, retailers et all..... More profits also = more taxation revenue for the Treasury; which in turn pays for the public services we all benefit from. Get used to it people; it's called capitalism. If you don't like it, move to a communist country and then see just how good you have it.....

Steering wheel issues.
Agreed - top advice as ever Jeff....

Don't forget the handbrake!
Yup - I can appreciate that as mine still is...... .....And that is why you'll find that many auto Zeds have poorly adjusted handbrakes - since they are not generally used......

Claiming windscreens through insurance
From the horses mouth there.... Cheers Lee! In my own experience, windscreen claims have had no effect on premiums over the years. Insurers have increased the excess from £25 to £75 (sometimes £100 and even £250 for company fleet policies) in order to reduce their losses - especially after windscreen chips etc became a potential MOT failure. Providing you have not made loads of window claims in the year, you should be OK! Richard:cool:

Newbie - from Essex
Welcome to the club Jan; nice Z you have there..... ....And you're an Essex girl.... (no jokes please guys ) I used to work in Essex many years ago; when I lived in London - my office was in Epping... And I actually paid an impromptu visit to the Mecca of Essex on Sunday to look at a new daily driver (more on that later....:whistling:) Richard:cool:

Low mileage UK Z
Thanks for the update Sudesh - this looked a tidy car otherwise!! I can appreciate the body/paint issues - and knowing you're in the business, agree that you'd be suitably qualified to cast an expert opinion in the mileage.... I also appreciate that history can be faked - but since the advertiser purports the documentation supports 35k miles, what led you to believe the mileage was false? Richard:cool:

Insurance Black Boxes.
Not for me - as I hate the idea of Big Brother watching me; and I reckon Allan's suggestion is worth a punt first..... .....But, I do concur with comments from Jeff, Misty and Guinnal regarding the potential benefits for young drivers!!! Thing is, despite police and press campaigns, I reckon the standards of driving in the UK are getting worse. I am not one of those "speed kills" wombles who thinks we should all be forced to drive everywhere at 26mph; but more and more young people (especially young girls) are driving excessively fast or aggressively in urban areas and car parks - where the chances of having an accident increase significantly. These inexperienced folk drive their little 1.0 cars on the limit through towns and villages; often tailgating (and even overtaking) those of us sticking to the 30 limit. We were all young once, I know; and whilst speed itself is not necessarily dangerous, excessive speed for the prevailing traffic and weather conditions is. And it is on these factors that many young drivers need educating on. So whilst I would certainly not entertain a black box - if I did have a teenage son or daughter, I'd consider having one fitted to their car..

bidding advice question
You would have been bidding against someone mate - but someone who placed a much higher maximum bid than you expected; so you had to go higher than his maximum to win it... Like Graham said, say you bid £20, but someone else entered a bid of £100. Each time you increase your bid, "his" will automatically increase to just above yours until you exceed the £100 - example; "his" bid will be £21 - so you enter £30, then "his" automatically becomes £31 - so you bid £40 and so on. Until you reach £101.... Exactly like Ebay!! The auction facility is a new idea on the forum - so we will monitor all feedback; positive and negative, to determine whether it is a good idea and if we should keep it. I am pleased you won the item, but understand why you might not have had such a positive experience; early days yet though mate and thanks for your comments - and sorry it wasn't a good one for you:flowers: Peace out man:wink: Richard:cool:

Uk oil cooler question
Common problem I reckon - due to the positioning it is subject to a lot of water getting splashed over it after years of driving in the rain. I have never heard of any car suffering from PAS oil overheating (least of all a 300zx), so if yours in knackered, just disconnect the hoses and join them together; then remove the old 'cooler!! Typical Nissan over-engineering...... That's what I did to mine a few weeks ago....

We have our second returning member from a permanent ban....
Good news Jim - and good luck with the potential new purchase!! Richard:cool:
