  1. LOL - but yes; what Graham said.... HID conversions are dead easy; plug and play in 30-45 minutes - which is not that much longer than the time it takes to replace normal bulbs, given the fiddly nature of a 300zx!!! But if you do want the best in conventional halogen bulb technology, forget all the "super white" this and "xenon tint" that - stick with Osram Nightbreaker Plus. They don't give fashionable blue tints, but they do give the best light output that halogen bulb technology has to offer!! And if you do go the HID route, just upgrade the dipped beam. Stick with halogen for main beams - there's no need for one; and also, it's not good to "flash" HID lamps too often. Richard:cool:
  2. My thoughts too; but you beat me to it Bri. These newbies don't remember the olden days of the forum...
  3. Oops - just re-read my post and thought I might have misled you a bit mate.... Re coilovers, there is no difference between NA and TT; however with brakes there is.... On older cars, the front discs of the NA are a few mm thinner than those for the TT, so they are not interchangeable unless you decide to fit TT calipers. However on the later spec NA (sorry, I forget which year they changed) they used the same discs as the TT..... Richard:clover:
  4. Go for coilovers - Meister-R are very good (see the traders' section) and quite reasonably priced too..... TT or NA will make no difference; the coilovers are for either LWB or SWB models as they differ a lot in weight and handling capabilities!! Plenty of good wheel packages are available on Ebay; I'm no expert on PCD and off-set - but ideally you want wider rears with a deeper dish to give the perfect stance! Richard:cool:
  5. If you don't know mate - I'm fooked if I do..... I have your voice message BTW; I was on hols when you called and the phone was left in my glove compartment.... But I do have your new number now thanks matey; speak soon:cool: Richard:clover:
  6. Good news mate...... And very good point; although Adrian Flux do tend to know their cars - but best check to be sure...
  7. Sorry to hear that too mate:sad: It certainly does show that the reputation of some cars really does remain with them, despite how badly subsequent owners treat them. All the best in what you decide to do; I really do not know what else to say..... Richard:flowers:
  8. Shmoke and a pancake....... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JjLmY0SxoWM Richard:rofl:
  9. Yeah - great pic...
  10. I was pretty impressed with Lancasters also - albeit I am not with them this year as I got a good deal insuring all three cars on a multi-car policy; which brought down the cost on the two daily drivers by loads... Yup - or you could speak to your insurer; as many companies will now also "match" your NCD on your own second vehicle. By that, they probably won't give you a second NCB; but will give you the equivalent % discount off the full premium..... Richard:cool:
  11. Many happy returns fella!! Richard:happybday:
  12. Many happy returns mate!! Richard:happybday:
  13. Just seen this - and when the man is on form, he owns the green baize...... http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/blogs/desmond-kane/o-sullivan-record-breaking-147-brimming-special-effects-144320314.html?vp=1 Richard:cool:
  14. Indeed - and over 1500 posts.... Great idea in starting it Gaz... And as for me - I drove mine home after a long weekend in Shropshire......
  15. Welcome to the forum mate - and good luck with your new purchase.... And yet another member from NI in just a couple of days...:clover: Richard:cool:
  16. Welcome to the forum mate - and good luck with your new purchase!! Richard:thumbup:
  17. There is another 300zx-specific issue regarding the odometers.... Irrespective of whether UK or J-spec; converted to mph or not..... Sometimes the odometer and trip-clock do "stick" with age. They are mechanical and there is a fix somewhere on the Aussie forum IIRC. My old red ZX developed the same problem at around 80k miles - on a long journey, the odo and trip clock would stop clicking over after about 100 miles into the journey and would not begin working again until after a few hours rest!! It's not uncommon Derek:wink: Richard:cool:
  18. What Gaz said..... ....And I have jut caught up with the thread now I am back home from a weekend away. I did read it on my phone earlier - but TBH it was too awkward to attempt a reply!!! And to fuel the debate; for me, bath=2; shower=1. I always prefer a bath; much easier to relax and unwind - a shower is fine if I'm in a hurry (or shower in the morning and bathe in the evening). But I never feel properly clean after a shower!!
  19. PMSL Steve.... And without doing a grave injustice to our own well respected lady members, I have to admit I know what you are talking about!!! I always potter around car parks at little more than 10mph; for the very reason that somewhere, someone might reverse out of a bay before they can actually see the approaching traffic. However for some inexplicable reason, many women drivers (way way more than men) still tear around car parks at 30+ mph blissfully oblivious to this fact...
  20. This has always been my view also! I know we now have iridium upgrades available - but if you do go that way, stick with NGK...... I too have not heard great things about Denso plugs in a 300zx! Coppers are fine too, I hear - but do bear in mind that they will need replacing at much shorter intervals; maybe 6k miles/12 months whichever is sooner?
  21. Really....? You can buy a pair of their rebuilt OEM calipers on an exchange basis for circa £200 - £250..... Then a set of front and rear Brembo/Mintex OEM replacement discs/pads can be bought for little more than the £200 mark all in on Ebay.... Steve does make a point about extremely hard use though. Whilst the 300zx was built from the ground up as a 150+mph car, the front discs are on the small side compared to more modern machinery; so it is no surprise that they do not dissipate heat too well during prolonged stopping from 3 figure speeds. Richard:cool:
  22. I've said it before, and I'll say it again...... There is nothing wrong with the stock 300zxTT set up IF IT'S WORKING CORRECTLY!!! So for normal/fast road use - if you don't have 500bhp or intend to track your Z - then just spend a modest sum on restoring your OEM brakes to how Nissan intended them to work in the first place!! A set of refurbed calipers (not a busting lot on an exchange basis from Big Redd) and new discs/pads/fluid will have your car stopping perfectly once more; and for a whole lot less cash than a second hand upgraded system, which could also be worn to buggery by the time you fit it!! Richard:wink:
  23. You're welcome mate; once the Z-bug bites you, you're addicted:wink: Do stick around though, you're always welcome, Z owner or not!! Richard:cool:
