New Road Tax rules arriving this April..........sweet.
Well said! Cars nowadays are far more reliable - they'll cover 150k - 200k miles plus without issue - so buying a new one every three years, just because you get the new reg plate, is daft. I'd only replace a car if and when I fancied something else.... Or as I did with my latest daily drive, because I was tempted by the updated, better specced model - and I managed to negotiate a 20% discount off the list price, even after adding £4k worth of options!! I have just clocked 10k miles in 17 months - so will most likely keep this one for at least 5 years. I want to get my money's worth...

Stunning sl merc
I agree Steve.... ......I was chatting to the owner of one at the NEC back in 2016 - and considering he had a £1m classic on his hands, he was a miserable git.... Perhaps that's the reason..

New Road Tax rules arriving this April..........sweet.
No, you're right - there has been an additional showroom tax, or first year road fund licence, for years now. And as Ian says, this won't be applied retrospectively either - it's for new registrations onwards. There's now also a supplement for cars with a new list price of over £40k - which applies each year for the first five years, then the RFL reverts back to £140. For cars registered in 2016 or before, everything remains the same.

Very nice - and the going rate seems to be a cool £1m at the moment....

New forum donation scheme
A good point indeed, which is why this is only a trial. We certainly have to be careful how this might work out. And si is dead right. He did not once ask for this; and in no way did we think he would run away with anyone's money. Simon's integrity was never in doubt as far as I am concerned. However I always wanted him to return as a trader, not because of securing a subscription, but because it would benefit our members. It certainly goes to show how our members will rally round in support, when they care so passionately about something!

What did you do to your zed today?
Hey Paul, Good news on the MOT mate! As for tyres - you'll no doubt receive lots of recommendations. I am a fan of Goodyear F1 and Conti Sport Contact 5 - the F1s have never given me trouble - and the AMG comes with the Contis as OEM fitment. Had both on the Zed too and they were damn good. However, I never thought I'd say it, but the Avon ZZ5 is actually very good and doesn't cost the earth. I bought a set for my Zed a while ago and they have done pretty well. After my previous experience with Avon ZZ3s when I bought my first Zed, I vowed never to go near Avons again. But I was wrong - I tried the ZZ5 because I'd heard good reports - and then I saw the price. I would have binned them if they were rubbish, but I am still impressed. The tread pattern is similar to the Contis and F1s - and they have a cool "Z" pattern around the outer edge...

Rare parts thread
Give Mike Feeney a call..... .....If not, the usual US suppliers will have one. Postage won't be too much for that either.

What did you do to your zed today?
LOL - but the AGM is in the summer guys.... But seriously, as these cars get more rare - and considering the work being done, I think I will re-evaluate my winter use. I will probably still take it out over the winter - but only on those clear, dry days when the roads aren't salted. Joel still takes his out occasionally in winter - and the Zed doesn't like being left unused for long periods of time - so as long as I don't use it in poor conditions, it should be fine...... Maybe....
