Nice looking car...…

Wheeeeels.....!!!
So typical of a few people in the business sadly - but communication aside, as long as he does a good job in the end, that's what ultimately matters. Good luck Bob...:clover:

Wheeeeels.....!!!
Thanks for the comments guys  I wasn't 100% sure when they fitted the first one, but...... …….That's exactly what I thought too mate. Can't beat a good old fashioned dished 5-spoke..... IMO, of course:wink::thumbup:

Here's a sneak preview after I finally had my new wheels fitted on Saturday.... ……. Further photos will follow, but for now, I shall share a couple of 'phone pics.... And I had a change of heart on the red "Z" centre caps, so I ordered some silver ones with black "Zs"

RM Sotheby's Auctions Essen 2019 - 1992 300zx Twin Turbo
The Essen auction was mentioned in Modern Classics last month - and there was also a Top Gear mag feature, with Chris Harris getting a bit excited at some of the cars up for auction....!

Modern Classics this month - March edition
LOL - I agree guys... MC has always been printed on lower grade paper than (say) Top Gear. But, occasional dodgy grammar and spell-checking aside, I do enjoy reading MC - hence why I didn't hesitate to subscribe. There's an easy going, friendly nature to their journalism; and a feeling the team are genuinely enthusiastic about the very cars they feature, no matter how humble those cars might be. It's not all £100k Porsche 993s and the like; more often it's about our childhood hero cars, everyday cars we once aspired to, like the Golf GTi, Astra GTE Ford XR3i etc - even though some (particularly the fast Fords) have rocketed in price in recent years.... PS, my copy arrived on Monday:biggrin:

What did you do to your zed today?
Oops - I did bad then..... Hell, I thought Si was going to have a go at me for driving my Zed in February...
-
What did you do to your zed today?
Yup - on a dry clean road.... The car was still clean when I got back, no road grime present, so what's wrong with a quick wipe-over with detailing spray (Meguairs Ultimate Quik Detailer, to be precise) - and then adding the glisten afterwards...? Should I have just stopped with the detailing spray this time?
-
What did you do to your zed today?
Nope - the Zed was already clean from the previous wash, as it's been sat under cover in the garage since then!! I just decided to give it a quick wipe-over with detailing spray, then added another coat of Glisten afterwards. I won't use a waterless wash - in any form

What did you do to your zed today?
Today, after cleaning the AMG and RR, once the afternoon sun had dried the roads, I went for a little drive in the Zed.... ….Had a play with a shiny new Porsche Cayman - Zed did well considering it has 25 years and over 100k miles under its belt.... Suffice to say, best not reveal anymore on a public forum. Filled the tank with Shell's finest, drove home and fitted new hybrid wiper blades all round. Oh and I gave it another wipe down with Auto Finesse Glisten before popping the Zed back in the garage until next time!!!

What did you do to your zed today?
No worries Chris - and yes, I do believe there is still a little of the original hub lip sticking out with 5mm spacers. I just did not want to risk this on the front, though, as I have heard many horror stories of vibration at high speed, like the wheels being out of balance. I had this with my previous set of wheels, as I did not fit the spigot rings at first. 5mm should indeed be fine on stock studs too - however it appears my new wheels (fronts anyway) are not drilled deep enough to permit sufficient turns of the nut, when the spacers are added. And even with 5mm, there's just 2mm clearance between the callipers. So, I have bitten the bullet and taken up the wheel supplier's offer to replace the fronts, with a revised offset, at cost. I still reckon this will work out no more expensive than to buy custom spacers and have the studs replaced. At least the wheels will slip straight on - and I have the chance to sell a pair of wheels to someone wanting a drifting set...

What did you do to your zed today?
You do...? Everywhere I have tried says they are not available, as 5mm is too thin to have a hub-centric lip... Unless, like the Superforma option, I get them specially manufactured with the wider outer lip for the after-market wheels!! You must have been fortunate to find those mate!! The 5mm spacers I tried on the front were not hubcentric - and the front studs are not long enough to get 5 turns of the nut, with the spacers. I guess the wheels are not drilled deep enough. The rears were fine though - and even when I added the spacers, I could still turn the nuts 5 times. Which I have been advised, is the minimum to remain safe.
