  1. Many happy returns Steve - have a great day mate...:happybday: Richard:thumbup:
  2. Nice work Paul....
  3. Cheers Andrew..... Still not sure I fancy doing it myself - but I will ask my local garage what it will cost to do it for me...!!
  4. I have no issues with using longer studs, but by the time I have bought the spacers and paid out labour to remove and refit new studs, I may as well take up the offer on replacing the wheels... Can't be bothered to do it myself, as I assume the callipers, discs and possibly hub have to be removed?? Generally, you won't find 5mm spacers with the hub-centric lip, which maintain the same centre bore - you're right, 5mm is just too thin!!. However the wheels have a larger centre bore than OEM - hence Superforma can machine a lip to fit the wheels, but maintain a snug fit on the hub lip.
  5. Enjoy your trip Pete - good time to escape the winter gloom....:clover:
  6. I drove mine out of the garage to test-fit my new front wheels, this time with 5mm spacers, to see if the extra 5mm is sufficient to clear the brakes..... And yes, they will. So now have the choice of getting some hub-dedicated spacers specially made from these guys https://www.superforma.co.uk/ Albeit I am not keen on this option, as I'll definitely have to replace the studs... Or taking up Stanced UK's offer of replacing the fronts with 30mm offsets in the same size at a decent discount... They would not replace the originals, as they were a special order and I've had them since May. I must have that chat with Slick Pete before spending anymore money.... (I haven't forgotten mate:wink:) And instead of putting the Zed straight back in the garage, I could not resist a little 20 minute drive - it was not a bad afternoon here; and the rain held off until I got home.
  7. I agree - and those Azevs are STILL the best looking wheels on a 300zx IMHO....Looking great Graham.....
  8. Nice battery clamp mate....
  9. Ditto - thing is, with decent quality lubricants, additives are at best, a waste of money and at worst, cause more harm than good.... All top quality oils have the essential ingredients already; no need for snake oil...
  10. Many happy returns Daz!! Richard:happybday:
  11. Thanks for posting Si - nice work mate... 1: Funkysi (Simon Parsons) 13th and 14th 2: nickz32 (Nick Johnson) 13th and 14th 3: Joely P (Joel Pickering) 13th and 14th 4: Baz (Barry Keen) 14th 5: RichardS (Richard Smith) +1, 13th and 14th
  12. Great piece of advice there JP....
  13. I have replaced my reverse light bulbs with LEDs - they are certainly a lot better.... ….As for brake lights (and rear lights) and indicators, I believe Ian has a point - the lower current draw from the LEDs will give you a bulb-out warning in the rears/brakes; and the indicators will flash erratically, as if you had a blown bulb. You can add a load resistor to mimic the draw from a standard bulb - but personally, I'd not bother and stick with normal indicators and rears....

Hi Steve, You mean this one mate? https://castlecombecircuit.co.uk/news/80jdm-combe-2019-date-change80-now-saturday-1st-june/ I'm sure, if we could muster up sufficient interest, that we could attend as a club... Sadly I cannot make it on the revised weekend - but that's no reason for the club not to participate!
  15. Thanks Lee.... ….I frequently get e-mails in my 300x account, purporting to be from members, but which are clearly spam or links to malicious sites.... Can't be too careful...!!
  16. I'd recommend these horns - nice and loud; and easy to fit.... Decent price too!! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12V-NEW-LOUD-AIR-HORN-SET-DUAL-TONE-CAR-BIKE-VAN-BOAT-SIREN-TWIN-LORRY-HORNS/221749970828?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649 I forget the OEM front speaker size - something like 5.25 inch, but not sure. Rears are 6x4 as standard; I bought some Hertz 2-way jobbies a few years back and they have been pretty good OEM replacements. Something like these... https://www.ebay.co.uk/b/Hertz-4-x-6-in-Size-Car-Speakers/179671/bn_7030383198
  17. I know mate... Different, yes, inferior, not necessarily - it's all down to personal preference. And the changes you refer to were facelifts and modifications during the car's lifespan. New 300zx sales ceased in the UK/EU in 1994; US new car sales ceased circa 1996, but the Z32 continued on sale in Japan until 2000.
  18. Seconded.... …...But was the 350z that much better....:wink::lol:
  19. Many happy returns Ash - have a good one mate! Richard:happybday:
  20. Yup - I was referring to Tom selling the plastic adhesive-backed strip he already has, but hasn't fitted...
  21. Dipped beam is H3 (or H3c for J-spec cars). So for the HID conversion, you need the H3 fitment; both H3 and H3c have the same "footprint." Mains are H1 - and it's not worth upgrading them to HIDs. Just upgrade the bulbs to Osram Nightbreakers or PIAA Arros.
  22. Good points Jeff - I completely agree that both versions have their merits and neither one is superior to the other. You have naturally seen more Zeds than most, so will have that extended knowledge. All I know, is that when I was looking at potential purchases, the UK cars all seemed to be better specced than imports. Most likely due to more options boxed being ticked, no doubt!! Not that it swayed me against imports in any way - I'd happily have either; especially a SWB TT targa like Gary's.... In fact the 300zx, along with mk4 Supra, were cars where the UK certainly didn't receive poorer spec than their JDM counterparts. The Subaru Imprezza, Mitsi Evo, Honda Civic and Integra were all better equipped in J-Spec form (according to magazine articles of the day).
  23. PMSL - just like that Father Ted scene where he tried to hammer out a dent in his car...
  24. LOL - yes.... But chances are it probably hasn't melted yet; still white here... No, draw a Zed on the bonnet....:cool:
