thermostat buggered?
ahh i see. well the rad is topped up with fluid so i am wondering if the thermostat is on its way out. Guess i will have a look at some point

thermostat buggered?
could that be the reason why the fan kicks in after a long drive? ALthough my car usually find it hard to get up to temp.

Hicas Light
searched for hicas and seen that one of the few causes for a hicas light and heavy steering after a few minutes is when the steering sensor picks up that the steering wheel is not straight.... or an aftermarket one with the hicas connection. Well i have an aftermarket steering wheel (which i hate - looking for an original) and the steering is not straight. How hard is it to adjust the steering?

noise
don;t worry dude i am just playing with you.... i do it all the time (when the car ACTUALLY runs right) if you do have your window down then where is the noise coming from? Only reason i ask is because when i had a noise it as my blind flapping

O2 sensor
fight o2 sensor is not budging on idle... very (and i mean very) tiny amount when i rev. left one is fine. Is the one on the right meant to stay still on idle only? if not then how much to replace?

noise
well.......... that speed is interesting in the first place.. sounds like you often reach them speeds ;) anyway back to the topic.... when you next take it for a drive, dont have windows open at that speed . hehehe i wouldnt anyway because you will only slow yourself down with the wind rushing in and hitting the area in the boot.. it's not your blind flapping about is it?

thermostat buggered?
car runs fine now.. however if i have been driving for a while it sounds like another fan has kicked in. The fan gets louder with higher revs. once cooled down (after being fof for a bit) it is fine again. IS this overheating or is it normal? Temp gauge reads med temp however i have been warned that these are naff (especially as my gauge might not go any higher) The other fan that is not attached spins at its own speed? (as in not with revs) anyway apart from conzult can i test if my thermostat is not doing its thing properly or if my temp is TOO high?

Very familier car (bored)
ok so was driving through town and whilst driving past essex county council i noticed a familier nice looking zed in the window. I like your wheels..... similar to mine and it is nice to see them from a distance. And i like the colour too.... Shame about the single exit exhaust but still sounds sweet. Might want to get that intercooler pipe set up correctly as it looks odd being the wrong way around!:mac1: Whoever you are..... Nice one!

engine gone or is something else?
well either way :-) i'm greatful for the advice mate..... free help is better than no help and i'm glad it is sorted (the main thing) cheers
-
engine gone or is something else?
yes :-) luckily i didn't need to drive it to see if it went anyway.i still believe it is risky thashing it on a highway. but as mine went on the second startup... needless to say my car will not be sitting for weeks anymore cheers for al of your help.............. now to find out the pressure leak

engine gone or is something else?
Well... started the car this afternoon. noise lasted 2 secs then went. went for a steady drive and the noise has completly gone.... Santa helped me tighten loose pipes and the car: Idles properly. Does not smell of overfueling. does not stall. sounds nicer and is more responsive. last but not least..... i get more boost. Not quite all the way to the right but one mark off :-) Thanks santa for your help... winner. I still get the power issue at high speeds where the car stops pulling for a second (after i have accelerated hard for 5-6 seconds) However this time i noticed te turbo gauge drops to half way below -7 and 0. Santa also suggests this could be resolved after a few more jubilee clips are replaced.. one thing he did mention is that my mig tips are naff. so question is.... do you think it is still leaks or maybe a fuel pump not activating it's higher voltage under higher load? I know the turbo gauge may drop on a leak that gives out at higher load but if the engine is missing and holds for a second (no power) this would also cause the turbo needle to drop? I may be a little hard to understand but i'm sure santa can clarify things clearer as i really have no clue

engine gone or is something else?
also to note. starting the car and driving to work took about 10-15 mins. temp was half way when i turn it off.... still a lifter? does't sound deep.. sounds light
-
engine gone or is something else?
ok.... well hopefully this is the case.. was fine before it sat for a week. the oil pressure often drops to 0 on idle though... oil pump or sender? how much risk am i putting the car through to nurse it on a 30mph road home for 5 mins?
-
engine gone or is something else?
OMG! NOOOOOOOO ok. started car up first time for a week. starts fine but noticed it was a little tappety. Drove 5 mins to work and by the time i parked up i could hear the tapping was even louder...... Really worried now so i have abandoned the car at work for now........ changed oil two weks ago and still has plenty of oil....... any ideas...... is it rebuild time? The tappet does not sound as fast as a piston cycle . sounds half the speed... is this a lifter or worse?

TV / phone / Broadband
that is correct.... and atleast if you survive a nuclear fallout......... fibre optics are designed to not get interference........ although truth be told if i am in the middle of a fallout.... internet acess would be last thing on my mind :-) sounds like you had same problems as me chris...... i think once virgin sorts out its HD some more i agree... sky will not match unless they too get on the bandwagon of cable. tooooo many restrictions with broadcasting :-)
-
please help!!!
well on mine personally.... my MPH just stopped reading... power steering gets heavy after a few minutes and at high speeds i get sudden split second power losses, despite having new injector plugs and sparkies what about yours jay009?

TV / phone / Broadband

Nova Camper
imagine....... some drunk geezer sees that and doesn't notice the tent is attached. maybe he thinks the car is sitting underneath a platform with 4 legs. starts the car in an attempt to steal it from under them......... like to see the tent stay on the platform then :-)

pc building any advice welcome
i'm going through the list but i always build power houses for as cheap as possible for my challenges .. hehe having to think small is unusual for me however i am going through the list. i think its usually easier to have a budget then decide otherwise you overspend. My SPecs are Antek case - 2 fans on the front, one at side, one at back and large 12cm on top. £70 (this is excessive but i use mine as a server, games machine and multitask multimedia. Processor £70 (will edit in model later) Dual core intel 2.4ghz. these fairly cheap processors are known for overclocking well and quite reliability. mine is overclocked to 3.0 X2 (6.0) Motherboard (asrock turbo twinz) £98 basically these support a newer chip for my twin g cards. normal motherboards run 1 graphics card at x16 however when you add a second (if you can) they are both bought down to x8. this motherboard runs both at X16 individually. Graphics. (each card £120 from Nova pc) i started off with one but i made my pc upgradeable by getting the motherboard set up first. so started off with 1x HD4850 1gb and now have my second HD4850 (1gb) 2GB graphics with the Core clocks these run really scale well for ATI. I run in Crossfire mode so both are linked and ATI also supports dual monitor in crossfire whereas Nvidia and SLI does not (YET) Memory. (think it was 667 mhz - will edit in later) got 2 x 2gb sticks for about £60 total special deal in PC world. you don't need that much more until you start uping the ante on your machine.. DVD reader and writer (£30 i use wndows xp (personal preference) but i use 64bit version. using xp 32bit limits memory usage to about 2.4Gb as it can't address the extra memory.... When I had two graphics cards taking 2gb. Even though I had 4gb memory I was left with 400mb from the memoery itself as windows takes away memory capacity from the cards. XP or VISTA 64bit addresses this and so now I get 4GB memory and 2GB from the cards and it uses all of it. Basically do not get more than 2gb or memory if you are running 32bit system. (unless it is vista as they can address a bit more) Vista ultimate can address something 256GB of memory… but no motherboard has slots for that yet :-) It runs crysis at full settings full effects (which is a true test and the most demanding game ever) all for around £600.... after getting dual monitors more like £900 but it would be worth well over 1200 is i bought it pre made. give me a budget and ill get you the pest multimedia pc for that price :-)
