blocked wastegate solonoid?
do you have a picture of this pipe unplugged? i haev a feeling it is the same for me. there is a bit of piping down the sides of the engine that were on a t juntion connector.. it has been looped around and does nothing and not connected to anything. Santa believes it used to have a boost controller. If this is what the boost controller used before what would the symptoms of this be? Could this be related to the engine missing i am getting under high boost? Maybe the wastegate is not functioning preperly without it and so i get engine problems under full load

vacuum hoses (calculation needed)

Santa, I tried looking up the Wastegate Control Solenoid Valve however works intranet blocks 95% of websites i try to visit. I will take a picture of that pipe which is disconnected and doingnothing down the passengers side bank of the engine

what bulbs needed?
the annoying thing about this is i have an mot this month and i wont be able to track a kit down until after my holiday.......... If the MOT fail me for me not even they will be able to get one to fit it and pass it :-(
-
what bulbs needed?
my old zed had HID's and i struggle at night with this zed (hence why i fail to drive at night anyway) big difference so i guess i will just invest in HID again :-)

vacuum hoses (calculation needed)
ordered some however they are now saying they are awaiting stock and could be a week or two :-( anyway a company near me sell sillicone vacuum hoses and it is about £7 per metre (blue to match car too :-) How many metres of silicone vacuum hoses will I need and what sizes in mm? i am also looking to get some for my mates zed as he helped me out so please try to include metres to cover his car (obviosuly different colour :-) i thought 12 metres would cover 2 cars however that is for one mm size... isn't there 3 different sized ( mm ) of vacuum pipes?

Two seater for £3000
my advice (granted its a bit biased) Stick with the zed and use the money to slowly build it up again. it will pay off in the long run, You will save money with the tax..... my mates focus ST is going up to almost 350 quid 2010. granted a newer car may have less problems to worry about at first however considering the zed's age i still think it is more reliable than my mrs zed or my mates ST. There is always a risk involved with older engines but if you are prepared to fix and maintain a car that you fell in love with then you will reap the benefits. ofcourse it is your choice and you will always be welcome on the forum and i agree that i sometimes fancy a change but when i sit down and think about it i am no better off getting another car. £2000 is a small price to pay for your car to run another 10 years however if you already fancy something newer or different then it may not be worth your time and investment as you will not see all of that money back. whatever choice you make atleast make sure you are happy with the choice and don't regret it.... not alot of zeds going around anymore and more coming off the road. when i (regretably) sold my older zed i misse it so much and struggled to find another zed, let alone one in good nick.... hence why i am driving round in this banger.... it may look good but the engine needs work (something i personally am going to do) and i bought it with the intention of rebuilding it and have it running longer :-) other than that have you got a rough list of what cars you have seen the look of?

Power loss on hard acceleration...
can anyone swap their PTU with mine for a test? after i have tested the PTU and i still have this problem how much am i looking at for a new fuel pump and fuel controller? i have a feeling that my split second where the engine stops pulling under hard acceleration is either the fuel pump not giving a higher volt at higher loads or the PTU is causing this

good thinking batman.............. can i add some rust old biddies chav's nagging wives (need a switch so yuo can still get the ............... essentials...... on demand) the office and more importantly............................. random caravans in the middle of fields (being a bit more polite due to my local government job)

first cloaking device
at first i though - make the zed invisible... then i thought futher about the consequences of not being seen..... i would have to concentrate to make sure pedestrian crossers didn't get in the way..... however i'm sure we can go and grab all the....... chicken kievs...... we wanted

leak
whats more worrying is.........How the hell did it all disappear in a few days? There are no leaks as far as I can see…………………………… Please don’t tell me the engine is burning it off Anyway regarding the official original post I just used one that I got from Texaco… I went BP first and they had the same brand.. £5.00. I would of gone further to somewhere like Halfords but as I had none I just accepted what ever I could find to be safe. Just so the poster and I are aware in future what can be the effects of having too much antifreeze compared to water? Is it too thick to circulate properly?
-
Power loss on hard acceleration...
ahh so you changed your fuel pump and ptu? i have new PTU S2 waiting to be fit but i was thinking of getting anew fuel pump incase.. or did you have alot done to your engine so you are not sure the exact problem? :-)
-
leak
yeah don;t do what i accidently did yesterday! i filled up 1 litre of antifreeze before realising it needs water to dilute it :-( luckily it required a load of water aswell (around a litre). luckily i already have a rad flush planed for this week so it wont be in their long

Power loss on hard acceleration...
any more on this? I am having the same problems with my zed at higher speeds... i have made quite afew posts however no one knows what it might be. Considering the other posts i have left today that may indicate the PTU (revs dropping when touchin gthe accelerator pedal) so i know it's an old thread but after searching for weeks and weeks for a similar post i have finally found this :hyper:

revs are dropping when i try to pull away
when your PTU was playing up did you have intermittant engine misses at higher revs or under load... i do and usually lasts for 1 second under high loads... it feels like what appears to be a miss because the whole engien stops pulling for split second (perhaps one second most) then it starts to pull again for a bit longer before doing the same. hoping the PTU change will correct some issues :-)

revs are dropping when i try to pull away
good thing i have a S2 PTU in the boot :-) just waiting for the piggy back loom to arrive.... from USA 1-2 weeks!!!!! :-O
