Home (again!)
Well I'm back in the land of the living! Got a hell of a suprise when the docs said I could come home yesterday...thought it might've been today at a push but more than likely Monday next week. But nope, ended up saying auf wiedersehen to the hell hole that is City Hospital in Birmingham (makes me thankful for Heartlands!) The old hip seems to be healing nicely which is good. Still aches like f*ck but at least I'm not in agony anymore which is a very good thing! There's a 20% chance the top of the hip that's been rejoined might die so they're going to keep an eye on my progress over the next 18 months...really don't want to be having a hip replacement at my age! Just spent the day taking things easy, getting more used to the crutches and dipping into all the posts I've missed during my "incarceration"...and of course reading all the well wishes on Lucie's post. What can I say guys? It's reading stuff like that, that make me proud to be a member of this club. It really means a lot! :) Leigh.

nitrous oxide
Preliminary calcs suggest it should be attainable! Probably end up more like 450 with mine though  But Johns on the other hand...well, let's just say if all goes to plan it should be VERY interesting ;)

nitrous oxide
Yup, remember that! :D I'm the same. Hoping for around 500bhp without gas but I'd like to think it's there to give it a kick up the arse if needed! ;) :D

nitrous oxide
Consider nitrous as a chemical supercharger. Nitrous setup properly will do anything a turbo or supercharger will do and be there when you need it. The rest of the time your running in normal mode with no strain on the engine. I'm fitting N2O to the V8 (thanks again Jock if you're reading this ;)) but the VH seems to be a bit more suited to coping with nitrous than the VG (though I'm not saying that a well set-up system on a well maintained VG30DETT can't work perfectly well ;)). The Q45 guys in the States run 100 shot, day in, day out with no problems whatsoever, which is quite reassuring! I've been thinking about using a low pressure automotive fuel pump and low pressure, pressure regulator on the petrol side coupled with installing a water/alky injection system to keep the combustion chamber temperatures down and allow running max advance on the timing (that should allow me to go as far as a 200 shot if needed)...Plus N2O might give me a (slim!:D) fighting chance against Johns own insane V8 rebuild! Lol! :D Leigh

Pioneer In-Car equipment?
Definately going to keep everyone updated on the build progress mate! Just waiting on the main bulk of the equipment to arrive from one of my sponsors, Nearfield Audio then I can get on with the job of building the custom door pods, sub enclosures (replacing the back seats) and sunken amp rack (in the boot)! Leigh.

Just bought these for my zed...reckon they'll fit?
You'll soon know when you get them mate! I'm sure it'll all work out fine one way or another! :)

Good idea, well worth doing! Going to be doing the same to mine (not to mention most of the rest of the car!) once my big parcel of goodies arrives from Nearfield Audio ;)

Fair do's :) The tweeter could of been flush mounted into the door though(http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=53035) or glassed and recovered into the A pillar for a factory fit finish ;) Imagine you'd have to remove the metal bracket that's in there and make up a new one (in MDF, and being careful that the magnet doesn't come into contact with the window behind).

Think they might require a little work to get them to fit mate :( Can I ask why you went for 6x9's though? At least they're in a good position being up front instead of on a shelf at the back firing all freuencies from 20 to 20,000 hz into the rear screen and creating that muddied "wall of sound" effect. Why not a decent set of comps? Probably would've been easier to get them to fit as well :)

small number plates
Time to try and put this to bed once and for all I think! A couple of months ago I spent an infuriating day trying to corner the DVLA on the minimum legal size for import car numberplates. After dealing with a succession of muppets who couldn't find their arse with both hands and even being directed to the Ministry of Transport at one point (!) I finally worked it out without help from them! The following is a description of the smallest legal plate/letter size you can have. It is very much a grey area though (even the DVLA aren't sure) so I accept no responsibility if anyone is still pulled for having this...and if I'm wrong I will happily stand corrected!: Based on the minimum sizing as stated on the DVLA website for "Display of Vehicle Registration Marks on Imported Vehicles (which have a restricted space for a standard sized number plate)" Character Height: 64mm Character Width: 44mm Character Stroke: 10mm Space Between Characters: 10mm Space Between Groups: 33mm Top, Bottom and Side Margins (minimum): 11mm With these measurements the front plate should work out to be 379mm x 86mm. The rear plate should have the standard UK character sizings and spacings on a square Import style plate: 340mm x 170mm. All plates are designed to be made with no borders or markings other than the registration itself to keep the sizing to a minimum. Give all these details to Fancyplates and they should be able to make them up no problem. HTH! :) Leigh.

Pioneer In-Car equipment?
Cheers for that mate! :) The DAB compatability issue won't really affect me as the computer install will by-pass the need for a headunit. I'm actually after one of their AVD-W6210 touch screen monitors (http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/product_detail.jsp?product_id=4088&taxonomy_id=25-109) to integrate with their new AVG-VDP1 unit (http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/product/detail/0,,2076_4025_192089326,00.html). That ebay company don't list either of them but I'll email them to check just in case. Cheers, Leigh.

Pioneer In-Car equipment?
Bit of a long shot, but does anyone have any contacts or know of any good sources that could supply some in-car Pioneer equipment for a good price? I might be placing quite a hefty order and so far I've found a couple of places that are semi reasonable in the UK but at the moment it looks like the best bet is to import them from the US (through Ebay). However I'm always slightly wary of going down that route when electrical equipment is involved! Any pointers would be greatly appreciated! ;) Cheers, Leigh.

Origins of your username
The pseudonym I used to use (and sometimes still do) for my installation art and film work. It's after Man Friday from Robinson Crusoe and Friday job; from reading 2000AD as a kid dealing with poor health and empathising with the situation of one of its characters who was produced by careless workers at the week's end! ;)
