  1. Until I decided to perform the V8 conversion and go heavily custom on the bodywork/paintjob my Zed was my daily driver for almost 2 years and in that time it only let me down once (knackered clutch slave cylinder which was an easy DIY fix). But then I made sure I took my time looking for one that was in A1 condition: a low mileage example that had been fitted with well thought out performance/handling modifications, with a well maintained engine and spotless exterior/interior. I forked out a bit more than most (brought mine over from Japan with Newera) but it has payed dividends in the long term. Leigh.
  2. Nice one, about to send it over, cheers Hugh! :)
  3. Cheers guys :) Think I over did it slightly today as well! Stripped my garage out with JD ready for the V8 swap and have to admit I'm really feeling it tonight! Oh well, at least I get a sit down for 4 hours tomorrow morning trying to get a sh1t load of the NHS's finest Barium down my neck...mmmm...isotopey...;)
  4. PMSL! Oooh...I bet the valves would chafe something rotten... And as I'm out of hospital and no longer Shakin' All Over she's promised to show me exactly how much of a Devil Woman she can really be...and Sarge, I'm glad you posted, it seems like We Don't Talk Anymore...;) Deffo give us a bell when you're over our neck of the woods Chunkle and I'll make us a brew (there may even be biccies if Lucie's around!:D) BlackMagic: Got my thinking cap on sussing things out...will keep you informed :D Cheers all! Leigh.
  5. Caution: Slippery When Wet? ;)
  6. Yep, a lot of Zeds have this problem (mine included). I double de-clutch to avoid it :)

I've got 19's going on mate and IMO they look just right for the Zed...any bigger would look wrong and compromise the ride/handling too much. Plus, it's expensive enough getting decent performance tyres in a 19" fitment...I dread to think what it would cost for a set of 20's!
  8. Finally came home from hospital last night...and it feels good to be back! :D Was almost touch and go as to whether I got released as the Junior Doc who wrote up my TTO's (i.e. the drugs I get sent home with, Lit: "To Take Out"! Makes it sound like a fast food order!) who could barely speak a word of English and who had major difficulty following what the team was saying, neglected to include the most important part of my prescription...the painkillers! Bit of a bugger when they're controlled drugs, it's gone 7pm and the pharmacy is closed! Luckily the nurses were on the ball and sorted it, Gawd Bless 'em! :) Got to go back on Tuesday for an MRI which they had trouble scheduling while I was in  but at least I can have it done as an outpatient and not lose my place in the queue. Not 100% better, more like about 85% but it's a hell of an improvement on how I started, so got a lot to be thankful for (and no operation! Woo-hoo! :D) Thanks to everyone who's been so supportive with your posts and PM's, it really mean't a lot guys! And extra special thanks to JD and Chunk (and Claire and Hayley!) for their visits that helped keep me sane! ;) Right. About time I stopped all this namby-pamby mucking about and got stuck into the Zed again! :D Leigh.
  9. Nice find mate :) I'm in the situation where my existing flywheel seems to have suffered from a stress fracture and lost nine teeth, so 1 time out of 20 I have to rock it to start! And with the V8 going in it's the perfect time to sort it. Even factoring in the usual approximate 27% to cover tax/charges etc it still works out to be a good price, roughly £244 all in.
  10. Oh no. That's torn it. That Aston above is stunning...the perfect combination of form and functionality...the trouble is, it's now given me two crackin' ideas for my project Zed! Time to speak to Steve at Bodywork Plus to see if it's feasible! :D Leigh.
  11. After all that planning it's finally going to happen mate! I'll have the digital camera on hand to document both swaps so you guys on here will be able to see each one taking shape as we go...in fact if CTM are on schedule my heads should be finished tomorrow so it might not be too long before a post goes up about the different work we're having done...Fer Chrissakes John will you hurry up and get over to the ward this weekend...we have to get in the garage and this escape tunnel won't build itself you know! ;) Leigh
  12. I beat you all in the bored stakes by a country mile! Been stuck in this 14'x14' room since Monday of last week and they still won't let me bloomin leave! I think I'm starting to lose the plot...some of the munter nurses are starting to look more appealing...someone, quick, break me out of here fer'chrissakes! ;)
  13. How can you follow that pic! Lol! Been involved in music on and off since art college. With me its guitar, guitar and a bit more guitar with singing chucked in for good measure. Used to have a small (compact and bijou;)) home studio but I now use my mates as we collaborate together; my alt/industrial/electro project under the name "The Few" and his chemical beats and triphop stuff under the "Del Piero" banner(our taste in music is nothing if not eclectic!:D) Really need to pull my finger out and do some more as have neglected it of late with the old health goin t1ts up! Leigh.
  14. Lol! I'll make sure to let her know!
  15. Supermodels compared to the munters on my ward!
  16. LOL! :D See for yourself in my "Rides" section fella ;) Minger Central is right! Benny Hill was lying to us all along...
  17. You wouldn't want to see any mate...trust me on this one!:hurl: But on a brighter note, my girl Lucie, who does some modelling, is all set to do a photoshoot for publicity pics with my Zed when it's finished at Bodywork Plus...and I'm the photographer!:D Should be good ;) Leigh
  18. Bloody Nanny State and ruddy NHS! Dangnabbit! ... ... ... Still keeping going mate, ta! :D
  19. Dratted hospital bedside terminal won't let me view all the pics. Meh.
  20. Mate, going with Steve is 100% the right decision...the mans a genius when it comes to bodywork and resprays! A damn good choice bud! Wish you could see the work he's doing on mine as its phenomenal! Leigh
  21. Bugger. Just typed a long post and the damn system crashed. I wouldn't mind but it took me 20 mins to type it using the almost unusable keyboard on the TV/internet thing attached to the bed. Christ, I'm surrounded by more electronic equipment than Steven ruddy Hawking! :D Cheers guys, yep anyones more than welcome to stop by and visit me here on Ward 12! I'll ask Lucie to post a contact email in case anyone wants to shoot over :) Being used as a guinea pig today or tomorrow! Heartlands hospital has just had a new type of MRI scanner installed and apparently the techs are itching to get their hands on a patient with bowel disease to try it out...step forward muggins here! :D Mark, I can't wait to show you and everyone else the car when she's finished. Not so much crazy, more utterly batsh1t mad...but in a very, very good way! The custom work Steve's doing on it just amazes me...never thought I'd see my original designs become reality! Just need to get out of here to see her again! Leigh
  22. Evenin all! I'm currently in bed in the hospital, pumped full of pain killers, typing this on the smallest, most annoying keyboard I've ever used on possibly the slowest and most unreliable connection in the world...but I'm back! Its thankfully looking less likely that they're going to open me up but I think I'm going to be kept in till at least the start of next week. And Sweet Jesus and all the little orphans...I was only half joking about the poor quality of nurses...the reality is so much worse it's scary! Lol! ;)
  23. Thanks guys. Just packed and off in 5. There isn't a cure but some people have it quite mild Mark which means that with luck and the right meds they can sometimes go into more or less permanent remission...unfortunately it isn't the case with me. But hey, I'll be in the right place for them to sort me out soon. Just wish the nurses (and the uniforms) were more like the Carry On films...the reality is I'll be looked after by a sucession of two ton Bertha's! ;) Thanks again guys, it really means a lot. I'll speak to you all again soon (and I think Lucie might be on here to give an update at some point) Leigh.
  24. Thanks for all the kind words guys...it really does mean a lot and makes me proud to belong to a club where there's so many good people and where I've made so many good friends. I've decided to go in tomorrow (er...today I guess!) and try and knock this thing on the head before it gets out of hand and they start brandishing scalpels in my general direction  Fingers crossed I won't be in for too long. Leigh.
