  1. Alright Mark, long time no speak chap! Decided to save it and pull it from this site as I don't spend much time on here anymore for reasons that aren't appropriate to go into on Robs thread (you know where I'm coming from...some people STILL won't let sleeping dogs lie *sigh* ;)) Engine wise, we're nearing the final straight. Once Johns is back after some minor bodywork bits have been sorted things should progress very quickly. We've even talked about fitting my engine into John's Zed so when his returns from CTM we perform a straight swap on each. The bodywork is coming on leaps and bounds. Halfway through, we decided to ditch the original Stillen sideskirts, design and shape new ones (more like DTM style running boards than sideskirts, Lol! :D) and redesign the "look" as a whole so now everything is totally custom. It's a LOT of work but everything is on target for this years show season...fingers crossed and Acts of God aside ;) :D
  2. Nice one Rob, great news. Lol@the pile of bits! You know when John's been round as your car suddenly runs properly and you have a pile of bits left over that weren't much use in the first place...Exhibit A, m'lud  : A real hands on expert with the Z32 who actually knows what he's talking about.
  3.    ;) :D
  4. Hmmm...about the level of reply I expected. Someone lock this thread already! Lol!
  5. God, I said I was outta this thread as well...bugger...ok, jumping back in for a brief moment! :D Iain, you seem to have this hang up that we are in some way jealous of you, or want your project to fail. This is what you are always hinting at (in a not very subtle way!). Haven't you and I spoken on the phone and had a laugh at the banter? We both said we were building our cars for very different reasons and I said...(in big letters to emphasise the point)...I RESPECT THAT...and even showed an interest in what you were doing. But as I've told you, both on the forum, in PM's and over the phone, although I would never want to build or drive a car like yours, it's only because it's not what I'm looking for in a performance car...it's no personal slant against you! John and I do want to go round the Nurburgring...him caning it and me going about 40mph probably! Lol! :D It's just somewhere we both want to go as it's almost the racetrack "Mecca", you understand? To say we will be blithely racing round is a mistake. We all too well realise it's potential to royally f*ck you up if you don't treat it with respect. Which is why my posts have been mainly BANTER, (remember that from the first paragraph?) And I say "mainly" as it was a genuine offer for you to join us Iain, along with anyone else who wanted to come. Thought it would be a great thing to do, particulary among the guys with modified engines. Funny how you seemed up for it (playing along?) at first then when the tide turned you got all serious and condemning...C'est la vie. Like I've said, for some reason you've got it in your head that everyone's against you...we're NOT! And I say again: just because we wouldn't build a car like yours, doesn't mean we want you to fail! It's when you lord it over everyone else and dismiss anyone else doing something different that gets a bit galling! You and your mates on here have always seemed to get a dig in over aspects of our builds and we've taken it as banter, nothing more. And yet, we've still remained polite and refrained from entering into a tit for tat contest with you on the forum! To go so far as to ring John up purely to call his build "pointless" and to call me a "D1ck" (Lol! :D I don't know how I'll recover! BTW, did you really think one of my best mates would actually agree or something??). You always said to me if you had a problem with something or someone you'd let them know...well it's the first I knew about it and that was second hand. Don't worry about PM'ing or calling now though, I won't answer mate. I can honestly see why John has had enough of this forum. At the end of the day, your still king of the hill...we were never challenging you for your crown in the first place.
  6. PMSL! Oi! Back in your box Shrimpy! :D Lol! ;) It's all getting a bit serious isn't it...it's amazing how some people only hear want they want to sometimes...paranoia anyone? This thread...I'm outta here... ;)
  7. After speaking to you this morning bud and after what's been going on recently in public and "behind the scenes" mate, you know I might not be that far behind you! Lol! (you d1ck!... ;) ...sorry, couldn't resist! ;))
  8. The Ring is definately my idea of a challenge matey! ;) But hey, horses for courses. Our cars aren't straight line monsters built for pushing the upper speed limits, they're not designed for that but as you say yours would be "awesome" round the Ring it seemed like it could be something fun for the two big power lads (plus us more modest men ;)) to enjoy. Anyway, twas just a thought! :) Right, I'm off to bed! Lol! :D
  9. Just watched "Lady Sovereign's" video for "Hoodie" (think that's what it was called!) on CDUK. Never seen it before. Her and her "crew" dressed in the latest Asbo wear chasing a very upper/middle class woman through a shopping centre...turns out she's only giving her her handbag back! Bandwagon jumping or incisive politcal comment? Discuss if you like! Website is here: http://www.ladysovereign.com/ Not usually into music like this but I liked the message! Lol! :D
  10. Hope you ain't saying that TOTB is more of a challenge than the Ring mate! ;) As you already know straight line drags aren't Johns thing (or mine for that matter ;)) and the only other event is the slalom is that right? (I confess to not knowing that much about TOTB! :D). You'd get a chance to blast it on the straights and hurl it round the twisties at the Ring! Better than dodging a load of cones in an airfield IMO mate! It would be very cool: your jaw dropping, turbo'd VG vs a N/A V8 VH, the best engine Nissan ever made as PeterR called it...;)
  11. This any help? http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=34775 It's only a few bits of info I put down but then again I don't know what you're having problems with :) Leigh.
  12. You need to talk to Leon at Alunox mate: 01978 366774 or 078111 96727 (based in Wrexham) He is THE best fabricator I have ever known and is doing a lot of work for my V8 project. Give him a bell and tell him Leigh with the V8 sent you bud ;) Hope that helps, Leigh
  13. John and I have just been talking about taking a trip over to the Ring once our V8's are in, nothing major, just for the craic! Mentioned it to Mark(zx) a while back when we were over his way at Leons (Alunox) getting some work done and he seemed interested and when Eric (Lymon) came over to mine a couple of weeks ago, we were talking about it and he said he'd also be up for it. John asked Iain before if he fancied a bit of a race round the Ring but he didn't take him up on it the first time (see http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=56038 all in good fun though!:)), but it looks like the challenge might've been accepted now! :D We're not into organising a huge club outing but if people want to come along I don't see there being any harm, the more the merrier, right? ;) Leigh.
  14. Should say...the Belgian Grand Prix is scheduled for Sept 17th at the moment, but I've read that there's a possibility that it "may" be cancelled after the race organiser filed for bankruptcy! :(
  15. Nice one! :D ;) We haven't discussed dates as yet aside from sometime in 2006 Lol! ;) However, a while back John and I did talk about maybe catching the F1 series in Belgium so thinking about it, we could combine the two...hmmmmm....
  16. Lol! ;) Funnily enough, reading that thread prompted me to post here! :D C'mon Iain, if they'll take a ruddy transit round you've gotta join us! With all the work you've done and the money you've spent surely it would be almost rude not to! :D ;) And from speaking to Eric when he came round not long ago it seems a few of the Holland boys might be up for it as well!
  17. Yup, as Daniel-san says (;)) I've done that particular modification. To answer Angus' question: Why? I say, Why Not? :D No, but seriously, I was going for a totally smoothed look on my car, literally everything has been done in this respect (I'm only listing the stuff relevant to the "smooth" look, I've left the rest off. Lol! ;)): De-locked. De-swaged. De-badged. De-spoilered and smoothed tailgate. "Stone protection" smoothed in all round. Rear wiper removed and smoothed. Fuel filler cap removed , smoothed over and re-sited in boot. Aerial removed and smoothed over. Side repeaters removed and smoothed. Washer jets removed, smoothed and re-sited. Side skirts fitted, smoothed and blended into the bodywork. Swage lines on 99 spec front bumper smoothed in and the main air dam widened to bring the top edge level with the top edge of the lights. And of course "De-handled" as well (the first thing that was done) :) Solenoid "popper" buttons were fitted in both wing mirrors to open the doors. The kit was supplied by Custom Concepts, http://www.customconcepts.co.uk. Before I started doing the work myself and before I discovered the amazing craftsman that is Steve at Bodywork Plus (in our Traders section) I took the car to QVR to get some insurance work done. While it was in they ordered the door solenoid kit (you'll need an uprated 35lb+ unit to cope with the Zed's heavy doors) and fitted it for me. Not sure exactly what the price was as it went in with the other work (and I wouldn't take my car back to QVR either...there are two lads that work there that really know their stuff but the rest seem a bit clueless and the two owners, although great to start with, lose all interest when they have your money...my car was returned with many bits I wasn't happy about...nothing major, just the result of sheer laziness  All IMO of course.) To be honest, the buttons that they originally put on were sh1t beyond all recognition and fixed to the mounting plate (a good place to put them but not where I asked for them to be mounted  ). Thanks to Steve at Bodywork Plus, they've since been moved to underneath the new Veilside mirrors and replaced with a more quality item ;) With no locks/handles if the battery died I would've been in schtuck so I installed an emergency battery charging point underneath the car (not to mention ditching the standard battery, upgrading it to a Deta Orbital Deep Cycle battery and resiting it in the boot! :D) All of this info can be found in my Journal mate. Feel free to leave a comment if you want to folks, good or bad, all input is appreciated! :D :) Leigh.
  18. Crackin' colour there Dave! Would love to see some clearer photos of it! Great to see the finished product mate! :D Like a few others I'm not keen on the front end and from a practicality point I'm a bit concerned you've smoothed the bumper into the arches but hey, they don't detract from the fact you've got yourself a lovely looking motor chap! :D Leigh.
  19. Nah...we're just waiting for Iain to say yes to joining us on our roadtrip to the Nurburgring next year! :D
  20. You're probably looking at extruded polystyrene blocks which they're shaping ready to take a mould to lay up into. As they're going wide arch they'll obviously need bigger alloys so I can't quite understand why they're shaping it with the standard alloys still on? It's normal practice to sculpt around the wheels you'll be putting on (or a mock up that's the same size) and there's a strong chance that when the alloys and tyres go on they might foul the arches they've spent weeks crafting. And on a side note, that front arch/skirt thing is a dead ringer for the one on the Calibre Coachworks showcar that "mysteriously" went up in smoke a while back. Leigh.
  21. Been keeping tabs on the thread on BB (in a non-particapatory capacity!) and it seems that address could be fake...unfortunately!

Well, there is the case for de-sentization. That guys (mainly) start off with soft porn, move onto hardcore, then more extreme hardcore and so on. They become addicted to internet voyeurism, associating gratification with repetitive viewing and find "real life" experiences don't fulfill them in the same way. But thats fairly extreme! Maybe there's a little of that involved here but TBH you guys really have to talk it out between yourselves. You won't find the answers here unfortunately.

Ok, I hate making sweeping generalisations BUT "generally" speaking men are most aroused from visual stimulation (magazines, videos etc.) and women from mental stimulation (erotic literature, fantasizing etc). Of course this is by no means a hard and fast rule and there is much metaphorical straying into the other camp so to speak. From what little I've learned so far, women find pornography difficult to comprehend for a number of reasons. The most common arguement is that it is degrading to the women involved, and that as it "apparently" skews the male view of the female sex it gives them a warped sense of what to expect and therefore becomes degrading to women as a whole. On watching pornography themselves women often feel inferior when presented with the silicione enhanced, heavily made up models in front of them. It makes them all too aware of the frailties and inadequacies of their own flesh. Thirdly, it is more often than not the case that "using" pornography (isn't that a very modern description ;)) excludes your partner as it usually occurs when the man is alone. His partner probably experiences feelings of incomprehension (Why is he with that instead of with me?), jealousy (He prefers watching that to being with me) and again, inadequacy (I could never look as good as those women) at the temporary excommunication. If you can find a happy medium whereby your partner shares an interest in watching pornography then you're onto a winner. Like me! :D ;) Leigh.

Yup, a repost but a good one. As has been said many times, regardless of whether you like it or not, the craftsmanship involved is undeniable. I quite like it actually! :D With my arty-farty background I've always fancied designing and building a bodykit from the ground up. Might just do it one of these days...(Steve are you reading this? ;)) Leigh.
