  1. Sorry to hear you losing your zed mate. I recently bought a 2.5,V6 Mitsubishi Galant, and it is a blinder, fast enough to play with but sensible enough, with all the mod cons, for me to use as a work car ( I am a health and safety consultant, so turning upo to wpork in a zed would be a bad thing) Carries four adults comfortably, and you can fit a zed gearbox, two cylinder heads and a couple of shooters in the boot. An excellent all rounder :)
  2. Having seen the picture, I would say that it was aircon too bud :(
  3. Although the disagnostic on Andy's page only covers the later models, it will work on the earlier ones too. Heaters are usually good, unless you a) have a big airlock or b) have had your heater hoses bypassed ? Switching the heater on to full and running the engine for 20 minutes should help the first, Changing your heter matrix and undoing the bypass (in that order) will sort the second
  4. speak to baggins in the traders section Z-Tech
  5. Youre right mate. That does sound like a bodge:)

  8. welcome aboard :)
  9. Dont mean to be pedantic, but surely you would take one away from the other ?? :)
  10. Sounds like the chip you have is a copy of a JWT chip, not an original. When you say your speedo cuts out at 140, do you mean your speedo or do you stop accelerating? As jaffa said, you need to be sure what your running before you start messing about, also have a conzult run on your car. As a suggestion I would start with the least restrictive (1.0) and see how the car runs, then if it's still ok think about the 0.8, most people stick with 1.0 as it is considered to be a sensible level to run at without modifying anything. See the FAQ section for mor details :)

    oooh, touchy :)
  12. if you take off the standard bumper, there is a support bar underneath and the styrofoam absorber (bout 2 feet long , 4 inches wide, white styrofoam) sits on to p of the support bar.

  14. I know paul, was backward engineering a rwhp start figure from Nissans claimed BHP :)
  15. I wouldnt say that was 10k worth of boobs, IMHO
  16. there is some discusion as to the transmision losses you can attribute to the autos, and also how they should be run on the dyno. I have heard people quote 40% losses which would give you 322 at the crank, if that makes you feel better? Also remember that the 280/300 figure, iirc, was quoted at the crank which, for the 280bhp, would give you a base figure of 168 at the wheels (assuming the same 40% losses) which means your mods have given you an added 62 ponies :)
  17. cheers bud, that made me smile
  18. 'Cos you can't spell?
  19. Having sat in karl's car last night, it's not the link bushes. As i didnt drive it, I couldnt replicate the feeling at standstill.
  20. well, the fact is that the engine I have just stripped down was sat, without a sump, in a garden for months, so i would have thought that it would have been more difficult than a normal scenario. maybe i am just lucky:)
  21. Mine came off quite easy, no damage, but can see, if you were to get cak handed, how you could damage something. I found it only took a gentle persuasion, using alternate sides, of course.
  22. took one off the other day Stu, if you are talking about the "inner" sprocket, a splash of penetrsting oil and a flat blade screwdriver behind it does the trick :)
  23. My car didnt need a re-build??, its getting a new engine, because I want to, but it hasnt gone bang
