  1. Well having had a nightmare scenario for the past few months, i can finally feel vindicated, but through no fault of my own: I gave a mechanic friend my old Renault Megane Scenic in October as i only bought it to get me by while my zed was being sprayed, but after the engine dying, kept it longer than originally anticipated. Everything that can go wrong with these cars, did and having no interest whatsoever in it, it was time to get rid. With hindsight i wish i had just scrapped the bloody thing at least i would have had a little money from it and peace of mind, but oh no, i thought i was doing a mate a favor and giving him a project to make some money on. He sold it on Nov 1st and like a fool he gave the whole logbook to the guy giving him the responsibility of dealing with the paperwork, which of course he did not send. The car had a few months tax left on it, so i guess he thought he would drive it till it ran out then sort the logbook. In the meanwhile i get a letter from my local council for an unpaid parking ticket on Nov 15th. I knew it wasn't me as i didn't have the car and i was at the NEC classic car show that weekend, so instead of writing, i went to the council office to deal with it face to face. Anyway although i had all the info including the part of the V5 with the new owners details, they said it was still in my name according to DVLA and i am liable for the £70 PCN. As you can imagine i wasn't best pleased, but for once i had everything in my favour and was adamant i was going to fight this to the very end. As a back up i sent a letter to DVLA stating that i no longer owned the vehicle and the date of exchange, however in all the weeks leading up to Xmas they say the car is still in my name and had no letter on file from me, so i then fax the letter to a different department, phoned them a week later and they confirmed they are now in receipt of the letter, meanwhile my deadline with the local council is about to run out. Finally got hold of DVLA today and they have confirmed and updated their system stating the car was no longer in my possession from Oct 14th 2014 and i will receive a letter shortly. Id like to say im relieved, but i was prepared to go to court and fight this, but the ordeal is over now  Moral of the story: Send your logbook off yourself, recorded delivery if you are selling a car and dont trust anybody else to deal with it, thinking they are doing you a favor, you are not even guaranteed the DVLA are going to receive it, unless you do
  2. Check your maf voltage, if you have a duff maf you will not be able to set idle or get it anywhere near
  3. I agree with Steve, far too low Gary, mine although not specifically agreed in stone is valued at £5k with my insurance and has been since i got it, but even after declaring mods, they are not listed on my policy which is sketchy at best  May well go down the route of valuation though before renewal :thumbup1:
  4. Wiring a strip in to the binnacle i use the two metal L prongs at the bottom of the dash that normally light the back lit bulbs ( which i remove) that way you dont need to mess with the bulb holders. As you look at the dash the left prong is the feed + For the strips, just search ebay, they are all 12v
  5. Yes they are wired into the dash the same as a bulb, so light switch on first then you can use the remote to change colour
  6. Cool, will PM my number :thumbup1:
  7. You mean this Thursday coming? As im away to Egypt on Mon 9th for a week, if its this week will be good to meet up.
  8. Dash uses 501 or T10 bulbs, as Si mentioned you will get black spots using leds alone in the 4 ports that have bulb holders, so add either 2x 24cm led strips or a continuous one around the whole inside of the binnacle. Drivers pod neo wedges T5, aircon neo wedges T4, but you wont get a direct replacement for the wiper symbol or the hazard. HTH Also i dont find the neo wedges for the aircon that good a spread of light, however white is probably the best colour to give the best effect spread.
  9. Real shame you couldnt find anyone nearby to store it or you could have bought it back and sold it straight on to a member for parts lol
  10. Why didnt they offer you the chance to buy it back for parts?
  11. I agree defo the Golf will be easier to sell on and for better money IMO
  12. Happy Birthday mate, hope its a good one
  13. Looks brown and blue to me and ive just had mine tested lol
  14. No worries mate, there as a back up if you need :thumbup1:
  15. I got some NA injectors, all in spec if you need one, let me know. NA are red 270cc and TT are Brown 370cc
  16. Welcome to the club and your right the zed is different to anything else and i agree it does feel special
  17. Hot water wouldnt touch the O rings as they are sealing the injector in place lol, however, i remember Jeff did a write up a while back, using narrow mole grips around the housing of the top of the injector rather than the pintle in the centre. I wiggled mine a little, turn left then right a bit and it popped out. Remember the injectors have been in there a bloody long time, so you need to crack the seal of the rubber to free it up, a light tap or wiggle, also try holding the part of the injector where the plug goes on, chance of less damage. Having the engine warmed up will help
  18. The resistor is 1 mega ohm (1000K ohm)
  19. RE knock sensor, i too had a new sensor when i fitted my engine but still showed code 34, so put the resistor back, its most likely the crappy cheap sensor from ebay thats no good.
  20. Yes too low soz, i knew what i meant lol, although its probably not the pedal at issue but the clutch plate or try re bleeding the slave and check the pin is moving far enough to dis-engage it
  21. Your clutch biting point is too high, ie the plate is not fully disengaging hence why its trying to pull away, it could be seized or the wrong clutch. You can still use an NA clutch assembly with a TT box.
  22. I used to have a rear window louvre on my capri when i was 17, dont think it suits the zed though :scared:
  23. Just need to change your speedo now for a proper one that goes to 180
  24. Certainly does mate and thanks for your support
  25. 3 hours aint bad though, it took me that long to get to Croydon from Portsmouth the other week, bloody trains, i hate em
