auto to manual.
Ive built up the parts i need for my conversion over the last year, so have kept a large initial outlay down apart from £500 for the conversion parts: gearbox, flywheel, starter, brake master cylinder, front prop piece, the gear selector came with it, bellhousing cover plate. Since then bought a single lightweight prop, new clutch, gearbox mount, bushings for the gearstick and going for a lightweight flywheel next. Going to do it myself, but if i had the money in one hit, i would take it to zedworld. The wiring is straightforward http://pexcom.com.au/z32cms/e107_plugins/content/content.php?content.359 http://www.300zxclub.com/showthread.php?t=85616

Changing the gearbox oil on a early 1989 (G) zed. help needed!
No, Do as Jeff suggested, removing the lower oil cooler pipe to drain. If you just remove the sump, without draining, please video it :biggrin::lol::lol:

If the chip has a map which has raised the limit, then you should be fine, are you sure its not already de restricted? It would be best to get the car on consult ( diagnostics) to tell what chip its fitted with, will also tell you if it is restricted or not.

Uk clocks will get rid of the speed limiter, stage 3 chip= nothing if its still limited :whistling: The stages refer to the mods carried out, ie, exhaust, manifolds, air intake, uprated, injectors, turbos. The stage settings can be a bit misleading and open to interpretation to who is selling it. The car would need to be mapped to suit the mods you have and done by a pro, like John Dixon. If the ecu is chipped it would have also been de restricted as part of the mapping.

Changing the gearbox oil on a early 1989 (G) zed. help needed!
The gearbox holds about 5 litres of oil, but there will be acouple of litres in the torque convertor that wont come out

Clutch pivot ball failures
What would you advise to lubricate the parts in the bell housing before refitting to the car?
-
import zx
It is restricted, by the speedo, basically will only manage 112mph. You can buy a kph to mph convertor, attach to the rear of the dash, splice into the speed sensor feed and you will be delimited. Or change the resistor R10 on the board. The other way is to purchase a set of UK clocks and or have the ECU chipped. HTH

Changing the gearbox oil on a early 1989 (G) zed. help needed!
If it hasnt got a sump plug, then its pumped or syphoned through the gearbox dip stick, which is where you would put new oil in too. You can get the syphon pipes with a valve on that you wiggle for it to work. Or take it to a garage with the facility to do it. There are several litres of oil in the sump, so i wouldnt just go and undo all the nuts lol, you and everything else will be covered.

F.A.O anyone who,s changed heater matrix
Take a look at the link in thread 20 i posted, they have cut the pipes and reconnected using hose and jubilee clips, eliminates the pain of undoing the bolt in the firewall that holds the pipes in place.
