  1. Ouch, what a pain in the ass lol, crap design really that you need to get the bottom timing cover off to get to the one bolt hidden by it. Although with the engine out when you had it i would have replaced it as a matter of course lol.
  2. I have had my other halfs 4 year old and 10 year old in the back with lap belts with no problem. I tried the booster seat, but wouldnt sit right in the bucket of the seat, but the booster is to enable the normal seat belt to go across the shoulder of the child, so that doesnt matter or work with the booster seat.
  3. I used to have the lap belts but i changed them to inertia belts, the holes and threads are already in place for the rears, so you can change them really easily. You will need to take the the rear panels out next to the seat and if you have it, pop the plastic grommet in the side window cover for the top bolt to fit, if not you can drill the hole, you will see the cut out hole on the rear of the panel. Funnily enough i found getting a baby seat in the front seat easier with the belts on the door as you have more length on the belt than when its on the B pillar.
  4. You take off the maf and bung the hole with the leak detector, connect to an air line with a little pressure and it will pressurise the vac system, so you can hear/feel any leaks.
  5. Looks fantastic Paul, whats next on the list to do lol
  6. If they drove around town then i doubt it would have been going fast enough and i find with mine, once up to temp it will go into final gear at lower speeds, oil is then thinner with the heat.
  7. The autobox is a 4 speed box, so 3 gears plus overdrive. The auto wont go into the final gear until up to temperature or over 45mph. The powers switch holds the gear longer so will rev higher before change, the hold button is for wet weather and pulls away in second gear. If you floor the accelerator the power light comes on automatically without using the switch. The OD button is like the 4th gear, off around town and on the twisties for better response and on for cruising Occasionally the oil strainer in the box can get clogged causing gear change/running problems or weak solenoid pressure in the box, so as part of a service schedule its recommended to drain the gearbox oil, take of the sump and clean out the strainer/filter of any debris or gooey fluid. You wont be able to drain all the fluid as the torque convertor tends to hold a few litres on its own, so worth doing another box oil change after a few hundred miles to help the old stuff flush out. HTH
  8. Pack the rear of the hole with grease and use a dowel or drift and give it a bang, the force of the grease is supposed to help push the bush out, but last resort chisel lol
  9. You need the manual pilot bush, so need to remove the bushing from the auto engine. I have a manual bush if you want it, my engine thats going into my car was already from a manual and has it in place.
  10. A bit difficult without seeing it, but i think the long cable with the 2 pins is for seat belt retraction tention when the belt is/was on the door.
  11. The 4 cables are for : feed/live, black is ground and you have 2 neg pulses, one to open and one to lock, the colours are on the diagram.
  12. :happybday: Have a great day:happybday:
  13. Your lock mechanism in the handle might need some lubrication or worn making the movement tight for the solenoid. By using the key you are creating more force when turning the mechanism than the solenoid may be giving out.
  14. I would suggest changing the VVT springs, there are 2, one for each intake cam, really easy to replace, the only bugger is having to remove the cam cover, which means top water pipe off to gain access. Mine is just the same at the minute, so i have put new ones in my new engine going in so i dont have to worry in the future. It sounded pretty sweet the last time i saw you, so i doubt it will be too serious.
  15. Does it make the same noise at say 3000revs? might be your VVT springs.
  16. Ive always found doing it online, i never end up with the quote stated, so i always phone up. I use a company called A-quote based in Andover and they have usually been very good with finding me the most reasonable quote. Im with Hero at the minute, but no doubt that will change again when the renewal date comes round lol.
  17. There is no way on gods earth would i pay that for an air filter :hammer: Ive tried cheapies and not so cheap and i dont feel or see the difference, it filters air :whistling:
  18. Its on the same circuit as the cabin light, so if thats on, then you have a different problem
  19. I used a hair drier a stanley blade and a couple of screw drivers to lever up, mine was grey sealer.
  20. IIRC they will not ship to the UK, the question has been asked before in the past. Would need to be shipped to an address say in the US then to the UK using a known contact to do it. If your old man can get there and have a chat with them, he might be able to get make some headway in getting stuff here.
  21. And from a Micra IIRC:thumbup1:
  22. Throttle cover bolts are M6 x 12mm with a 1.0mm pitch.
  23. :happybday: have a great day :happybday:
