A Z sold ...
Picking it up tomorrow with a fresh coat of paint and different rear spoiler. Will arrange to pop over in it on an upcoming weekend, if it won't be too painful...

NEC 2016 - Bring your Zed
wow. what a thread. lol. personally, given the stand space, i would include a body modified version, a motor sport version, as well as oem and subtle versions, as long as the quality of them was considered best in class by the club. they highlight exactly what is possible with the cars, and also how cherished the cars are by their owners, regardless of how their taste has driven the result. but as has already been said, some of these variations may actually be out of place for the type of event and not reflect the classicness of the show i would also include the roughest version we could find, which clearly indicated all of the problem areas and could be used to highlight how good the restorations are in our club. with classic also comes restoration. but underlying ALL of that, is the car show also propose a theme for each show, which we should try to include. we have missed the theme references in previous years, as it was not obvious in the site pack. so if there was a sport, or film, or other specific theme, then it would be easier to include specific modifications. imho it should be a club member decision as much as possible, bearing in mind the quality of car preferred. however, any member that wants to volunteer their car MUST understand the commitment and as a club we cannot afford to have people back out at the last minute, because it is unfair on other members who could have committed but were not selected.

Hankook Ventus Sport K104's
Fair point Pete, and knowing that i myself would never buy and fit 10 year old tyres onto a car, i am surprised that i didnt answer as such. :( I must have been on a different train of thought. Although i have owned and driven cars with older tyres, i would never purposefully buy them. On my motorbikes, i would never even consider a tyre more than 3 years old. Agreed.

Hankook Ventus Sport K104's
general advisory practice for tyres is replace at 5 years old, so 10 year old tyres are past their use by date. but i know very few people who actually bother with that ;-) as long as they have been stored indoors, they are probably fine, but the rubber may not be as pliable as new tyres

Hankook Ventus Sport K104's
not tried that specific model, but had Hankooks on a few different cars now in the dry they were great, and mileage was good, but i dont find them that good in the wet, and they always seem noisy on the road. personally, i wouldnt consider them for a daily driver, but would use them for a weekend/summer car.

Tyres
i generally use http://www.camskill.co.uk when ordering car tyres, as they always seem to have the best prices and stock availability, and deliver promptly. But i used national tyres http://www.national.co.uk in an emergency when i was up in scotland, and they were also very very well priced. you also get them cheaper if you order online for fitting at a branch, rather than ordering directly in the branch (some company management initiative..lol). The branch manager told me that, so i ordered online while i was in the reception. I recently used http://www.openeo.co.uk for the first time after being recommended, to get 2 sets of bike tyres, and also found excellent prices and delivery was good too. i notice they supply car tyres as well, but have not used them for that. using camskill and openeo means you will have to pay to get the tyres fitted elsewhere, which is fine if you have someone that will do that for you. not all tyre places like fitting tyres they havent supplied.

NEC display car for 2016
Steve, that is awesome, and should have pride of place somewhere.... we have discussed some different ideas and plans for next year, but ultimately, it depends on a) how large a stand we get allocated after applying b) how many owners can commit 100% to the show but that car could take up a stand all on its own!

NEC 2015 and A VERY big 300zx.co.uk thank you........
once the stand is setup on Thursday, you are not allowed to move the vehicles around on the other days, so it was not possible to do once the news was known

Classic show at NEC
nice one Lee, great to hear from you buddy.

got a show car that can get to NEC by 10am today? 12/11/15
yeah, tis a shame on the sequence of events. sods law. how about being the first car on the list for the 2016 show instead? (well, first after whatever Lee has managed to sort out in that time) gives you time to fix the minor little niggles you were worried about ;-)
-
sad news from Lee :-( but damn lucky too
that being the lorry wheel... ;-)

its a shame, but worth a try. many thanks. last year, there was no way we could have got onto the stand late. this year, we are right next to a main access way. no way of knowing at the time. anyone immediately local might still be able to make it on, if they want to try?

stuck in accident traffic on m6, probably with a few other show goers, so might be lucky and still get access for a bit longer?
