  1. Today I will mostly be here, so let me now if anyone wants to catch up. Won't be in the zed, and will be looking out for the do's and dont's of things to change on the zed :-)
  2. i applied, dont think i have seen a pass yet. but, i wont be able to attend, as i hadnt realised it was the same day that i am off to Cadwell in the afternoon ready for mon/tues on track. i forgot that we were going the day before.
  3. for everyone that is meeting up for the meal on the night before, then we will need to provide our requests the week before, to make it easier for them to serve us all together as a group in the reserved area we have. so, here is the menu, if you want to start thinking about what you want, and i will start collating the details in a few weeks :) https://www.brewersfayre.co.uk/pub-restaurant-menus/Leicestershire/Marina-Hinckley.html
  4. for some dedicated track instruction, should be fun :-D

The numbers have been dwindling for a while, hence the poll about whether to attend this year, and the mixup on plots. There are always a small dedicated group of people that do attend, and it will be good to see if they will be going again this year. It might also be worth approaching Adam who organised Japfest, to see if they want to share the space as before.

the option is there, but no prices yet. i am sure i saw it discussed on their facebook a while ago. it is mentioned in the faq as well, so i guess they are encouraging people to get weekend tickets, before they decide on day pricing.

This. ^^^^ unfortunately. If you go for the whole weekend, from Thursday, and you are not taking your family, then it's fairly good value for 3 nights camping with entertainment. But when you go just for the day, and you can only get Saturday day tickets this year, it gets more expensive, especially as a couple/family. You can go Sunday for free, and watch everyone pack up though. In addition, going as a family for me is out, as there is no way I can take my son out of school for 2 days to go to a car show. As well as having to book my own holiday time off as well. So I can turn up friday night, miss 2 days entertainment, and pay the same. For the younger owners, with no real commitments, bringing themselves and some mates, like I and many others used to do when it was at Billing Aquadrome back in the 90's and 00's, then all well and good, but it just doesn't have that same appeal after 20 years. My main reason for going is to meet up with other members, some who I may not have seen for a while, but for all the reasons above, it's hard to justify for me. But I 100% applaud your wanting to turn it around Paul,, and I hope there are some members that feel they might want to give it another go for you. Actually, maybe it's also the camping that doesn't interest me so much any more either....

  9. Nice one Gary, just beat me to it. Lol.
  10. Yes, he is right, saw the details on the JAE site a few hours ago myself. I didn't make it to the reps meeting this year due to other commitments (serious family illness) and with no NEO and no REO attendance, we therefore missed the plot publishing at the time. These were booked soon after the last show, but with a request for a different area, as the requests have to be submitted well in advance normally. However, when the prices were announced, and after the general feedback on the new show location after the last one, we decided not to promote it as a club this year. This means that we won't be supplying marquee, power, etc. However, as the plots are booked, then any member is welcome to attend and use the stand/plot as they would normally, so please feel free to do so. This would have been announced after the reps meeting, if we had known. I was already writing an announcement to this effect this evening, but you beat me to it.
  11. How many times did you read and re-read that before posting it?
  12. Drove it around a bit, and took it back to meet its previous owner for a while as well :-D
  13. this looks good for me too. do we need to fill in a car registration form?
  14. i should have had banners with me, but i only remembered when i was nearly there. had been out all day on saturday, so did not get a chance to dig them out of the shed and get prepared. as a z-club stand, the turnout was impressive, including our club. when you look at the evo's, scooby's etc stands, they cover all of the various incarnations, much like z-club try to do, so their stands always look bigger. if you split them down into evo iv's, evo v's, evo vi's for example, they would be smaller turnouts. of the z's, the 350z is the current affordable modifiable car of choice, hence they have more members, of which more of them will attend events. this is just the way that all car clubs go, as the models get older. it comes down to the dedicated hard core enthusiasts to keep the faith. with our club, this enthusiasm dips and peaks. it has always been difficult to find someone willing or able to take on the organisation of club stands at all of these events, because not many people attend all of them. this is why we have regional organisers, to help organise things locally. but when people stop attending, then organisers stop organising. but also, as shows become more commercial, the entry prices increase to stupid levels. turn up on the day, and pay £25 per person, to walk round a massive car park with a couple of trader stalls? after a while, this gets a bit deja vu if anyone has ideas and wants to help turn this around, then step up, talk to me and the committee, lets work something out. this is why we are focussing on an annual club specific event, to try and encourage some club spirit back, and meet with members to discuss how to move forward. come to coventry, bring your ideas, bring your enthusiasm, and make a difference
  15. I first saw one in 1990 or 1991, which was given to Dave Price as a company car when he was Nissan Motorsport team manager. I think it might have been the first one in the UK. We were at the wedding of one of his daughters, as he is a long time family friend of my mum. The design was just light years ahead of any other production car around at the time, I wanted one from that point on, and bought my first one in 1998.
  16. This is the biggest celebrity loss that I am truly sorry to hear and hits me personally. Gutted just doesn't say enough. Loved his music since hearing his first album, For You, as a kid when i just turned 9, long before purple rain album hit the airwaves. Lifelong fan. No choice but to complete my back catalogue now, as I had been a bit slack and have a few gaps. Radio1 playing a tribute hour at the moment, finishing at 9.
  17. there seems to be quite a few celebrities that have chosen to battle their illnesses in private, so that it comes as a bit of a surprise to the public when the news breaks.
  18. got my email and printed the tickets off. looking forward to the day, not so sure about the 5am start though
  19. Riding up the M11 last night, approaching Stansted, and on one of the road crossing bridges, i spot someone on the wrong side of the railings, hanging over the southbound carriageway, looking like they were ready to take a plunge. i hit the phone button on my scala, voice dial 999, and pull over the hard shoulder about 1/4 to 1/2 mile further up. the operator answers, puts me through to the police, and it just rings, and rings, and rings. the operator comes back on, apologises,,and says she will try another number, and it rings, and rings, and rings. i spot an ambulance on blues going southbound during this time. the operator comes back on, apologises again, and says, she will try yet another line, so i tell her that hopefully its not too late, as i just saw an ambulance going that way...., she apologises again, and then it rings, and rings, and rings. she comes back on again, and says she will find some other numbers to try, while its still ringing, ringing, but then eventually it gets answered once they took the details, the police handler says, ah, i think we might have that reported already, but i dont really know, so i will log it for you.. wtf? glad it wasnt me on the sharp end of a life threatening situation!!
  20. yep, no problem. will send you over my details on pm over the weekend.
  21. cheers peeps. been a relaxing day, as i am on holiday :-) charging myself back up ready for the 10 hour drive home again! lol
