  1. i can only echo everyone else's comments about how fantastic the meet, the cars, the people and the weather was this weekend. awesome, despite the sun burn. regarding other awards: Yes, there were a few others in the initial list, but they were dropped out to be more car focused, considering the event type. However, i do think we should have a bunch of member related awards like that towards the end of the year, along with Car of the Year, etc. It's hard to include those in the AGM (despite being the ideal place) because the best time for the AGM style meet is the middle of the year. I like the idea of a calendar ticker on the top somewhere as well, but it needs to work for web and app users, and be visible to people that don't see the front page much. maybe a link/hover/popup between the logo and banners. we can discuss with Lee about how to get that up and running, and what would work. my thinking cap is already on for next year, taking on board many of the AGM comments, and the committee will have a busy time discussing the ins and outs :-) thanks to everyone for showing that the club really is a great place to be, and needs everyone to contribute to make it better. btw, if anyone who attended did not get the metal Z memento, let me know and i will post one out.
  2. pdf attached, as i couldnt do it last night, so Gary had to improvise :) Coventry-Show-2016.pdf
  3. the meet start time of 10am is because i think that is the time that we can get into the area. i dont think we can get access earlier than that.
  4. currently it is in the cat test category Joel, once the tester enters the vehicle details and age, the machine selects that test apparently?
  5. not muscle cars then? ;-)
  6. definitely a growing trend... any takers?
  7. the zed failed mot on emissions cat test. mentioned the cat exemption as highlighted by Lexx previously. cheers @Lexx tester had a read up, agreed on the detail, and retested with a pass. he did try to call them to clarify, but they dont work saturdays. he will speak and get it clarified for next year though, as he said the software does not allow for it and he didnt know about the exemption details for 92-95 registered vehicles.
  8. what do you think? there must be a market for it? :-)
  9. so Japfest have announced another weekend date, including camping, the same weekend as JAE, with camping tickets at £13? No love lost between those 2 organisations then? I guess something to tempt the southerners into not going to Newark, as it's in Kent. http://www.japfest.co.uk/japfest-motorsport-heroes-0
  10. the ukip sheep will not let him leave, they will rally him up to come back, like they did last time. he is just an attention whore who needs to feel validated by people. with all of the posts i have seen saying he deserves a knighthood and other rubbish like that, he will just wait for the "ukip love" to wash back over him and announce that the people want him to stay.
  11. yes mate, great weekend hooning around Leicestershire on Saturday with a bunch of about 30 other Triumph riders :-) annual meet, with 1 guy riding over from Belgium for the 2nd year running.
  12. ok guys. rooms all sorted and table booked. can book in from 2, unless they had a busy friday, so 3 is preferred. but i need to be there first to for them to charge on arrival, so i will be there by 2. our table is booked for 7pm.
  13. Gaz will let you know what it is, but will check on getting the list updated, lol. welcome in. there is an upcoming meet and club AGM in 2 weeks time at Coventry Transport Museum ;-)
  14. i am staying at the hotel this weekend, which is why i wanted to give them the food order and confirm our table. i will als confirm all of the room details with them and get the checkin time. will be their standard check in times i expect, but you might want me to checkin first and pay for the rooms. ;-)

  16. i would nominate you @groover as my hero for travelling up from IOW and manning the stand all weekend :) so you can have pride of place on the stand this year, on a pedestal, as part of the stand theme
  17. any hero is valid, personal, film, industry, or the act of heroism, etc :) http://www.necclassicmotorshow.com/2016-show-theme-revealed-heroes-and-heroines
  18. ok guys (tagged), can you get your orders in please, as above, you can PM them over. i will be onsite this coming weekend (2nd/3rd July), so i can give the restuarant manager the food details to secure our group table for 16 currently i think :) https://www.brewersfayre.co.uk/pub-restaurant-menus/Leicestershire/Marina-Hinckley.html
  19. all of those that are eating at the hotel saturday night, can you please look at the menu posted on the top of page 3 of this thread, make your choices and send them to me by posting here, or pm or email, and i can pass it on to the restaurant in advance. they specifically asked for this, when i made the group booking, so they could be well prepared for us when we turn up. we can all still pay separately, but they will make sure they have the food available and so we can all be served at the same time. i will tag everyone who is mentioned on the list for food, when i am not posting from my phone...
  20. for anyone else that might want a room but had not committed yet, i have a few left. any that have not been confirmed with me by next weeknd will be released, as i am staying at the hotel next weeknd and will finalise all of the confirmed bookings while i am there. thanks
  21. Hi Lexx, do you have a copy or a link to the specific guidelines, as i had a similar discussion last year, when my zed failed a few times on that, until it eventually passed. As the MOT is due again soon, it would be good to arrive already armed with the info..
  22. they should all be there, once you go into the PM part of the site, the sent items folder should contain them.
  23. the moderation i see is generally when people are offensive, racist or abusive, whether deliberately or drunkenly, for which there is no place for that here. the bans i see are as a result of the above, or through the outright intent to scam members. thread clean ups happen at the request of thread starters, or when they go way off topic, or when someone has a legitimate complaint about the content, not just a dislike or disagreement. i regularly use a few forums, one if which is more heavly moderated, and one with very little. the latter very often descends into arguments, threats and name calling, like a playground or a rowdy pub. not a good place when that happens. the former does seem oppressd at times, and is not always a good place either. i think we have a fairly even keel in that respect, and have the right balance. you cannot please all the people all the time. but you cannot let it descend into a free for all shithouse either
  24. There is no little "clique" of people that can and cannot post "what they like". Almost every ban is a result of someone being offensive, not opinionated. The problem here is not being too scared to post something for fear of being banned, but for fear of being moderated or the thread being removed. Shouts of "Freedom of speech" and "name and shame" are all well and good for the people that do not have a duty to remain within the law for the publishing of this content. The moderation team and committee are aware of this legal position that the club must maintain, and have to follow guidelines wherever necessary. Any derogatory or damaging posting against a business must have some physical or documentary evidence to support it, otherwise it cannot be considered as fact by the club, being the publishing medium of that content, whether the posting member is known or hiding behind anonymity. The posting may be 100% factual and correct, but the club cannot prove that itself. I am fully aware of how annoying it is for people not to have an accurate rating of suppliers, or a clear "danger list" published of people to avoid, especially when it could cost you a lot of money if you choose the wrong supplier. A measure of how "reliable/trustworthy/honest" a supplier is could well be their willingness to partake in these type of conversations and argue their point, maintain decorum, discuss the nitty gritty of a customer gripe publicly, rather than immediately revert to a legal position. Believe me, there are a LOT of cowboys that send a legal letter immediately to try and shut a conversation down, because they genuinely have something to hide and are NOT interested in defending their bad workmanship. Fortunately, we do not get so many of these, but in the past, this happened a lot. A lot of these people went out of business long ago. There are always 3 sides to every story, "yours, theirs, and the right one", and it is difficult to get the right one without knowing ALL of the facts. In some cases, you will have to rely on what you read, or revert to private conversations to get more information/opinions.
